Chapter 12 - -- Chapter 12: Everyone thought he was evil

(Not talking to mortal and thinking he'd disrespect himself….I mean come on)

The Sacred Pressure ended.

For a few seconds, everything was just... quiet. Even the clouds looked like they were holding their breath.

The Nascent Soul elder slowly opened his eyes.

They were pitch black—like two creepy holes that could suck you in.

Yeah, it was kinda terrifying.

He looked around the empty field. Bodies were everywhere. Most were already teleported away. Only one person was left... barely awake, still hanging on.

Up on the peak, the Grand Elder(of the outer sect) stood up so fast his back almost cracked.

His mouth dropped.

"...No way. Don't tell me—OLD FRIEND?!"

And that's when the crazy part started.

BOOM.

Life essence—you know, that super important energy old cultivators have—exploded out of the Nascent Soul elder like a volcano. A giant wave of power rushed across the sect.

People in the valley felt it instantly.

Foundation Establishment cultivators who were stuck for years suddenly broke through to Golden Core.

Even elders were like, "HUH?!"

Nobody knew what was happening.

Well… nobody except the Grand Elder.

He wasn't excited.

He wasn't happy.

He was crying.

"You IDIOT!" he shouted. "You didn't even tell me! You just went and did this?!"

The Nascent Soul elder smiled. "I told you... it was for the sect."

"You didn't have to DIE for it!"

"I'm not dying..."

He closed his eyes.

"I'm being sacrificed."

(...Which, honestly, sounds the same thing. Yun Wao would've totally said, "Bro, that's literally the same.")

His body started glowing. Like actually glowing. Not sparkly fairy lights, but that intense I'm-about-to-disappear-forever kind of glow.

Everyone froze.

Even the cocky cultivators were dead silent.

Even the squirrels in the trees were like, "Dang... respect."

And then—he vanished.

The Grand Elder dropped to his knees.

No words.

Just pain.

His best friend... gone.

---

Meanwhile, back in the pressure field...

One person was still awake.

Barely.

Shaking.

Breathing like he ran five marathons.

But still conscious.

---

So... who was it?

Yun Wao?

Han Yu?

That random guy with no lines?

Still don't know.

Awww… feel bad for you.

See you next chapter😎
