Chapter 109: Tobirama Senju's Questioning
"Truly disgusting… manipulating the dead like this."
Bloodied and bound by trees, the Raikage A, along with Ōnoki—whose arm had been severed by Flying Thunder God—knelt on the ground, panting heavily.
Standing before them were the legendary "God of Shinobi," Hashirama Senju, and the former speed demon of the shinobi world, Tobirama Senju.
"What's going on here, Monkey?"
Dressed in a black bodysuit with a blue chestplate, silver hair, red eyes, and three crimson markings on his face, Tobirama's icy gaze landed on Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Half of his body had already been destroyed, and his regeneration was slow.
Fortunately, the two Kage were in no condition to continue the fight, and the battle had reached a temporary stalemate.
Beside him stood Hashirama Senju, long black hair flowing behind him, clad in a similar bodysuit but with red armor—The God of Shinobi.
Even reanimated, the chakra he radiated was terrifying enough to send chills down any spine.
"Tobirama, don't speak with such a tone. It's too disrespectful."
Hashirama's face was grim. Though unclear on the situation, seeing Konoha engulfed in flames beyond the Four Violet Flames Barrier unsettled him deeply.
He glanced at Ōnoki, who tossed a recovery potion to A, and frowned. "Even after all this time, the shinobi world is still plagued by war?"
He had divided the Tailed Beasts among the five great villages. Was that still not enough?
"Big brother, I told you long ago—let me mark every Tailed Beast with Flying Thunder God Seals. The moment they reached the other villages, I'd teleport Madara to each one, have him control them with his Sharingan, and destroy the four villages to unite the world..."
"Shut up!"
Hashirama snapped in fury. "Peace can't be achieved through violence, Tobirama. Don't you get that yet?"
"Idiot!"
Veins bulged on Tobirama's forehead. He showed no mercy toward his brother. "You sealed all the forbidden techniques I created into scrolls! If Konoha's shinobi had learned my jutsu, how could Iwa and Kumo possibly suppress us now?"
If it weren't for this fool of a brother, things wouldn't have come to this.
Hashirama scratched his head. "Tobirama, your techniques are too dark. Playing with the dead isn't something shinobi with weak wills should learn."
"Enough bickering. The battle's not over."
Hiruzen Sarutobi's eyes turned to Raikage A and Ōnoki. The two were recovering rapidly.
Tobirama frowned. "Those potions they drank—are they made by the new generation?"
"Intermediate Healing Potions," Hiruzen said grimly. "After you passed on, many things happened. The Fourth Hokage died sealing the Nine-Tails. I took over as Hokage again. And then came the Samsara Game…"
He quickly summarized the events.
Tobirama was skeptical—until he saw, outside the Violet Flames Barrier, a golden figure even more immense than Susanoo, blotting out the sky.
Since when?
They couldn't even perceive the Game Merchant until Hiruzen explained his existence?
Tobirama's eyes narrowed. "So the shinobi world has truly changed in incredible ways."
"Huh?"
Only then did Hashirama catch on. "The Nine-Tails was sealed?"
He nodded to himself. The Nine-Tails was indeed the most dangerous of the Tailed Beasts—even he could've been injured if caught off guard.
"Monkey, what about the Uchiha?"
Tobirama asked suddenly.
He had keenly noticed that, amidst the chaos, not a single Uchiha had shown up. Had they all betrayed Konoha?
Hiruzen hesitated. "There… is no more Uchiha clan."
"I knew it. The evil Uchiha would never remain loyal to Konoha."
"They were exterminated…"
"What?!"
Tobirama's face froze in disbelief. When he heard it was Itachi Uchiha who carried out the massacre, he nodded slightly. "I'd like to meet that young man someday."
No wonder the other villages were circling like vultures—Konoha's Uchiha were gone.
It didn't matter, though.
The Senju Clan had once defeated the mighty Uchiha. Wait… why couldn't he sense any Senju chakra either?
Hiruzen's eyes flickered. "Tsunade is at the Senju compound. She should arrive soon."
Tobirama's expression darkened. "And the rest of the Senju?"
"After your death, the Third Shinobi World War broke out. The Senju clan… gave their lives to protect Konoha."
"I see. War is such a troublesome thing."
Hashirama looked pained, but he didn't dwell on it. No clan could last forever—not even mighty ones like the Senju or Uchiha.
Tobirama, however, grew increasingly cold. His eyes scanned the battlefield again.
"What about the Uzumaki? Given Konoha's alliance with Uzushio, they should be helping us."
"Second Hokage, the Land of Whirlpools was destroyed long ago…"
Outside the barrier, an excited ANBU—upon seeing the resurrected Hokage—blurted out the truth.
Sweat beaded at Hiruzen's temples.
Tobirama's gaze was icy. He merely said, "Monkey… you've really let me down."
With his political intuition, he immediately sensed the secrets behind the tragedy.
But as Hiruzen was the Third Hokage, Tobirama chose not to expose him in public.
For now, their priority was ending the crisis.
Tobirama's gaze turned sharp.
"Fourth Raikage. Ōnoki. Never thought the brat who peed his pants in front of Madara would become the Tsuchikage. Time really is something."
"Now, now," Hashirama interjected. "Ninja should fight honorably—"
"Big brother, shut up!"
Tobirama snapped, scowling.
Ōnoki, feeling his chakra surging back, showed no fear and smirked. "With this inferior version of Edo Tensei, your strength is far from peak. I doubt you can stop us."
Jiraiya, just as he was preparing Sage Mode, was interrupted and struck down by Dust Release. Hiruzen had to sacrifice himself to buy time for Enma to reverse summon him to safety.
Mei Terumi shook her head with a soft smile. "The First Hokage is charming… pity he's too old."
After Tobirama's revival, she'd joined the fight on the side of A and Ōnoki.
If the battle ended too quickly, Kirigakure wouldn't have time to act. She needed to control the tempo.
Tobirama dropped his battle stance and stood calmly. "Tsuchikage, Raikage, Mizukage—let's talk."
"The territories you've taken from the Land of Fire—Konoha won't pursue them. We'll allow you to leave safely. Let this matter end here. What say you?"
The Uchiha and Senju clans were gone. The Uzumaki, masters of sealing, were also extinct.
The Hyuga? Not worth mentioning.
Their enemies had special equipment from the Samsara Game. If Konoha didn't make a clean break, the entire village would be devastated.
Those lost territories… they didn't have the strength to reclaim them anyway. Preserving the village came first.
Tobirama sighed inwardly.
When had Konoha ever been forced to suffer such humiliation?
