Chapter 101: Watching the Ninja World Video and Answering Questions
Without mercy.
The question was already confrontational, almost like pointing a finger at someone's nose—Was Kumogakure planning to attack Konoha?
The Raikage, A, acted like he didn't hear the insinuation and laughed, "My father was surrounded and killed by tens of thousands of Iwagakure shinobi. Can't I bring a few guards to protect myself?"
Onoki might've looked honest, but he was by no means someone to swallow his anger. He sneered, "The Third Raikage launched a surprise attack deep into the Land of Earth. It was only natural that he was killed."
Just mentioning it made Onoki almost cough up blood.
You, Kumogakure, lost just one Kage, but we, Iwagakure, lost tens of thousands of shinobi, nearly wiping out an entire generation. And you have the nerve to talk about hatred in front of me?
Once Konoha is destroyed, you're next.
Onoki's heart turned cold as he silently vowed.
Even before the game event began, the tension had already reached a boiling point.
"You trying to die, old man?"
The Raikage slowly removed his straw hat. Lightning Release chakra flared out, causing his carefully styled hair to spike straight up.
Not to be outdone, Onoki's right hand suddenly became encased in a layer of hard stone.
Hiruzen Sarutobi seemed to enjoy watching the drama unfold, but still stepped in with a fake show of diplomacy. "Let's not fight, you two. The Rinne Game exam is more important."
This immediately dampened the hostility between them.
With the orders from the village leaders, the number of registered shinobi visibly shot up.
"Sorry, I need to excuse myself for a moment," the Kazekage suddenly said.
Beneath the white veil covering his face, his tongue moved like a windshield wiper—clearly showing his excitement.
Only those who registered for the Chūnin Exams were eligible to participate in the Rinne Game.
In theory, none of the Five Kage qualified. They could only sit in the stands and observe.
But... he was Orochimaru!
He had already disguised himself as a female shinobi from Kusagakure and had followed the official registration process. Didn't that mean he was eligible to participate?
After leaving the viewing platform, he stared at the glowing screen in the center of the exam arena and silently thought, Register.
[Dear player, you have successfully registered for the event [Battle for the Title of Ninja God]. The event is about to begin. Please do not leave.]
Black text appeared before his eyes.
Orochimaru's heart leapt with joy. He quickly snuck back into the changing room and swapped into the Kusagakure ninja outfit.
With his forehead protector properly in place, he confidently walked down the stairs.
"Stop. Who are you?"
A ninja dressed in ANBU gear suddenly appeared.
He was responsible for guarding the area around the Five Kage and prohibited any suspicious individuals from approaching. The Kusagakure ninja before him seemed highly suspicious.
"You're quite lucky,"
Orochimaru grinned, his smile sending chills down one's spine like he had discovered a delicious new ingredient.
Before the ANBU could react—
A massive black shadow suddenly appeared behind him. The figure was so tall its head scraped the corridor ceiling.
A rotting stench filled the air.
A stiff, undead hand grabbed the ANBU's neck and easily lifted him up, slamming him into the wall with inhuman strength.
Its bloated right arm, covered in festering sores, looked like a grotesque tumor. Poisonous corpse toxins flowed from its nails into the punctured skin.
The ANBU's blood turned black.
He struggled to break free, but the corpse poison had already polluted his chakra, rendering him incapable of using any jutsu. In moments, his body was dissolved into a pile of rotting flesh.
"Now you're just fuel for the ghoul."
With a minor ghoul bloodline, Orochimaru easily controlled this iron-bodied, corpse-poison-infused undead creature.
Once he dismissed the ghoul, Orochimaru blended in with the other exam candidates in the arena, waiting for the event to start.
[Registration closed. Total participants: 1,800.]
"So many people?!"
"500 reward points and a registration fee of fifty million yen?! Shinobi are really this rich now?"
"They're all backed by noble families and their villages. With such high rewards, I'd join too, no matter the cost."
The arena was buzzing with chatter.
Then, the ground suddenly began to tremble. The already expansive dueling arena began to stretch even further outward.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.
The solid earth was torn apart by an invisible force, forming countless square tiles.
A tower-like structure emerged. All candidates stood at the base, where the most tiles were. The farther up the tower, the fewer the tiles, until only ten remained—marking the finish line.
A massive die, glowing like a miniature sun, spun in the sky.
"Dear players, I will be hosting today's game event as your Game Merchant."
"The rules are simple: roll the die, move forward. Whoever reaches the finish line first wins."
A gigantic figure filled the sky. He reached out to grasp the die and smiled politely, bowing slightly to the shinobi in the arena.
Of course, chaos was the most profitable business.
Just from registration fees alone, nearly a million reward points had already been earned.
"What a terrifying entrance."
The Raikage looked up, stunned.
A figure the size of a mountain, capable of reshaping the land with ease... he could probably destroy Kumogakure without breaking a sweat.
Hiruzen Sarutobi deeply regretted it. If you'd shown up like this from the start, even Danzo wouldn't have dared test your patience. Now Konoha suffers needlessly.
Mei Terumi covered her mouth.
She remembered how she had vowed to bite the merchant to death after getting scammed. Now, even if she used her Lava Release at full power, she probably couldn't even scratch him.
Fang Yi smiled. "Now then, please roll your dice."
Clatter, clatter...
All the players hesitated briefly before throwing the dice that had suddenly appeared in their hands.
Some tried to manipulate the dice with chakra—but it didn't work. They were met with red warning messages. Violators would be disqualified.
Unexpectedly—
The dice didn't land on numbers, but on various random outcomes.
"It's a monster!"
One player from Takigakure rolled the die and suddenly, a skeletal soldier clad in armor and wielding a spear appeared on his square.
Before he could react, the skeleton thrust its spear into his chest.
[Eliminated!]
Within a short time, countless players were eliminated before even completing the first round.
The monsters came in all forms—blue-faced zombies, fog-shrouded ghosts...
"My reward points!"
Eliminated players were instantly teleported out of the arena, collapsing to their knees outside, utterly devastated.
They weren't dead, but it felt worse than dying.
Especially for the ninjas from small villages—fifty million yen was a colossal sum to them.
"Dead last—watch your back!"
Sasuke easily defeated the monster on his tile and turned to look at Naruto's square.
A strange golden glow floated at the center.
Naruto scratched his head and laughed. "Sasuke, are you worried about me?"
"You big idiot."
Sasuke said flatly, glancing at him coldly.
"Congratulations to player [I Will Be Hokage] for triggering a Golden Critical Hit on your first roll of the Fate Die!"
Fang Yi looked at the golden glow on Naruto's tile in surprise.
He sighed to himself, As expected of Uzumaki Naruto—he doesn't even need to wear a lottery shop uniform to hit the jackpot.
