"Hey! Marine, if you don't put in more effort, you're going to lose!" Glennon parried another of Kyros's attacks. While he didn't look completely at ease, he was definitely in better shape than Kyros.
"I won't run away like a coward, pirate!" Kyros knew there was still a small gap in strength between him and the fencer before him, but he was certain he would not be the one to lose!
When two paths cross, the brave one prevails!
In the original story, during Doflamingo's invasion of Dressrosa, Kyros had nearly managed to assassinate him and had seemingly defeated an officer of the Donquixote Family.
But, in truth, aside from Vergo, most of the Donquixote officers were fodder.
Before Doflamingo became a Warlord, their bounties were generally not even over 100 million.
Therefore, the fact that the current Kyros could fight Glennon to a standstill was a testament to the effectiveness of his Marine training.
--Grove 24, Sabaody Archipelago--
This was home to the largest restaurant on the islands. At this moment, a tall woman sat brazenly in the centre of the restaurant, with the helpless but silent owner standing beside her.
A stack of plates taller than the owner was piled on the table, and staff were still continuously bringing more food.
The woman, Ularasova, seemed to accept all of it, grabbing the food with her powerful hands and shovelling it into her mouth, swallowing it down in just a few seconds.
"My… my lady, do you require more food?" the owner asked, choosing his words carefully, afraid of displeasing the gluttonous pirate before him.
Yes, a pirate. The owner had long since recognised this bizarre-looking woman as the pirate "Gluttonous Woman," with a bounty of 120 million Berries!
He had given up hope of her paying the bill; he would be lucky to keep his life. But Ularasova ignored the owner's quiet inquiry, simply continuing to devour the food before her.
" Buuuurp! "
After a long while, having finally filled her seemingly bottomless stomach, Ularasova patted her slightly bulging belly and let out a satisfied burp.
"Um… ahem… your food tastes pretty good!" As she stood up, Ularasova seemed to remember something and turned to give the owner a proper review.
"As… as long as you are satisfied," the owner squeezed out a pained smile, fawning over her.
"Hey! I think you forgot to pay."
Just as Ularasova's left foot crossed the restaurant's threshold, a heavy hand landed on her shoulder, and a light question was whispered in her ear.
"Is that? Vice Admiral Atlas!"
"Huh? How do you know?"
"Heh heh! I was lucky enough to see him in action when he was cleaning up the pirates. The Vice Admiral's heroic figure is forever etched in my mind."
"Damn! What a lucky guy! He's just as young as the legends say…"
The appearance of Atlas caused an immediate uproar in the crowd. In the hearts of the many civilians of Sabaody, he was no different from a god who had come to save them.
"I'm a pirate. Do I need to pay for food?" Ularasova retorted instinctively.
"Is that so? Then you can pay with your bounty. Consider this your last meal."
As he spoke, Ularasova felt a terrifying pressure envelop her. Every pore on her body screamed of death.
I'm going to die! Alarm bells shrieked in her mind. Like a cornered cat, her hair stood on end!
Swoosh!
Acting on pure instinct, Ularasova activated her Devil Fruit ability.
Her body instantly shrank, becoming as light as a skeleton, and in a moment, she had slipped from Atlas's grasp.
"Who are you?" Ularasova's expression was grim. She had never felt so close to death.
"Hmm? A strange Devil Fruit ability…" Atlas ignored her question, instead sizing her up with great interest. Emaciated; the word perfectly described Ularasova now.
Her once-tight clothes became loose, and her formidable figure vanished, leaving what looked like a layer of skin stretched over a skeleton.
Her cheekbones protruded sharply, and even her once-passable face had disappeared.
"Of course! I ate the Muscle-Muscle Fruit! I am a Muscle Human!" Ularasova raised her head proudly. At the same time, she activated her ability again.
Her body inflated like a balloon, instantly filling out with muscle.
The bulging muscles grew savagely until she had transformed into a terrifying, ten-meter-tall monster made of tumours.
"What a powerful-looking body. It's a pity your brain is probably made of muscle, too."
"Hahahaha! Today, I'll let you feel what true power is!"
Bang!
With a deadpan expression, Atlas kicked out! Ularasova's wild laughter froze on her face. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, and her thick chest caved in.
Her entire massive body was sent flying, perfectly avoiding the surrounding buildings as it soared into the distance!
What kind of monster is this! Ularasova felt her entire worldview shatter. No one had ever been able to send her flying so easily in this state.
A sudden, inexplicable panic seized her heart. Will we… be able to leave Sabaody today?
"Hmm, not bad. The direction was just right!" Atlas raised his right hand to his forehead, feigning surprise. "It seems my control over my strength is pretty good." He then scanned the crowd of onlookers, a gentle smile on his face.
"Alright, everyone, you can disperse. There's nothing more to see here. By the way," he said to the owner, "you can come to the Marine station to collect the payment for the meal. Her bounty should be more than enough…"
"Of course! We must listen to Vice Admiral Atlas."
"That's right, we'll leave the pirates to you, Vice Admiral. The peace of Sabaody depends entirely on you, Vice Admiral Atlas…"
The crowd was very cooperative, showering Atlas with praise before dispersing.
"Time to get to work again," Atlas sighed. "I should find a way to get all these restless fellows in one place. It's a pain to have to run around putting out fires."
He stretched his body slightly, his joints letting out a series of thunderous cracks.
--Sabaody Archipelago, Grove 21, a bar--
"It's quite crowded. Excuse me… could you buy me a drink? You… piece of sea trash!"
A cold voice cut through the crowd of onlookers. All eyes turned to the source. A tall, handsome Marine with a sharp gaze, around 20 years old, stepped out from the crowd.
"A Marine Vice Admiral? It couldn't be… that man, could it? It must be. He's the only one in all of Sabaody with that kind of presence!"
German, sitting at the bar, naturally noticed the commotion Atlas was causing.
He pushed back his messy, long hair, his eyes looking somewhat hazy as he smiled at the approaching Atlas. "Is this… a drink for my final moments?"
"What a fierce gaze. You truly live up to your title as a Supernova with a bounty of 220 million Berries," Atlas said, looking German up and down.
Then, his tone shifted, and his expression became cold. "But… what gave you the courage to be so arrogant in front of me?"
Swish!
As he spoke, Atlas's hand became a blur, arriving in front of German in an instant.
Smack!
A slap, carrying a terrifying shriek, landed heavily on German's face, followed by a dull, muffled thud.
"So, you're a Logia user."
"How…"
"Interesting!"
Atlas looked at the pile of sludge on the floor. Bubbles occasionally rose from the mud, and the bar floor was rapidly decomposing, a strong smell of decay filling the room.
"This guy is a rare Logia-type Devil Fruit user! No wonder his bounty is so much higher than the other Supernovas. This young Vice Admiral is in for a tough time."
"Heh heh heh! It's just a Logia fruit. You shouldn't underestimate our Vice Admiral!"
"I heard Vice Admiral Atlas defeated a Warlord-level pirate back when he was a recruit."
"For real? Is he that strong?"
A Logia, hailed as the strongest of the three Devil Fruit types, was on full display. But there were knowledgeable people in the crowd who knew that Logia's abilities were not invincible.
Gurgle… gurgle…
The sludge on the floor shifted, quickly reforming into German's grim-faced figure.
"That was fast. I almost didn't have time to turn into my element. But… you can't beat me. I am… a user of the Logia-type Swamp-Swamp Fruit!"
Although the slap had scared him, German had been virtually undefeated since obtaining his Devil Fruit.
Even among the Supernovas, he was one of the strongest. In his eyes, the elemental form granted by his Logia made him invincible.
"It seems I'm being underestimated. What a… frog in a well,"
Atlas said, speechless at German's taunting expression. He had only thrown a casual slap, and somehow it had given this guy the illusion that he could win.
"Let's take this outside. It would be a pain for me if we broke anything in here." Atlas looked around, his gaze finally settling on German.
"What the hell does that have to do with me? I'm a pirate…"
Before he could finish, a long leg wreathed in Armament Haki came flying at him. How is he so fast? German screamed internally.
His eyes caught a blur, but his brain couldn't react. His body, like a malfunctioning machine, could only watch as the shiny military boot grew larger and larger in his vision.
Bang!
"Well, that was pretty accurate. It seems I have some talent for soccer,"
Atlas said, nodding in satisfaction as he watched German's battered body fly precisely out the door without even damaging the frame.
"Are you… kidding me! What was that black stuff just now? Why couldn't I become an element for that split second?"
Outside the bar, German, with a clear boot print on his face, looked at Atlas, who was slowly walking out of the bar.
His previous nonchalance was gone, replaced by the look of someone facing a formidable enemy.
Clack!
The crisp sound of leather shoes on the hard ground echoed in German's ears. Each step felt like it was stomping on his heart, and cold sweat dripped from his forehead.
"Looks like I need to speed things up. It's almost dinnertime," Atlas said, completely ignoring the tense German as he looked up at the sky with a troubled expression.
"Stop looking down on me, you bastard Marine!" German was enraged, his anger overpowering his caution.
Although this Marine was terrifyingly strong, he, a Logia user, was no pushover!
"Question!"
A large crater instantly appeared in the hard ground, cracks spreading out in all directions as a sonic boom erupted.
"Here we go!"
Another horizontal kick!
Whoosh!
A terrified German was once again sent flying. As for the direction, Atlas naturally had it all figured out.
"Hmm… good. At this speed, it should be about right. Time for the next one."
"Hiss~ who was it again?"
"What a coincidence. Why don't you two stay? Allow me to treat you to a meal."
Sanchez, who was about to make a tactical retreat, was startled. He instinctively looked up at the large tree above.
"A Marine!!?" x2
On the once-empty tree branch now stood a Marine in a white suit and a "Justice" coat. Sanchez and Outlook were horrified.
Although they had been focused on each other, their instincts as pirates meant they always kept a part of their attention on their surroundings.
But this man had appeared above them without a sound, which sent a chill down their spines.
"Hey! You two are quite rude."
"I just invited you to… eat!"
With that, Atlas leapt down. Boom! A huge cloud of dust billowed up. Atlas slowly walked out, his sharp face revealed.
"It's just that… this meal might not be so easy to swallow."
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Outlook couldn't stand this seemingly neurotic Marine any longer and was the first to speak.
"Everything I said… is the truth."
