"Hey! Kanos, do you need a hand?" Gion, standing to the side, wore a solemn expression.

She had heard of Katakuri's reputation. With a bounty of 600 million Beri, his true strength far exceeded that figure.

He was the strongest member of the Big Mom Pirates, second only to Charlotte Linlin herself.

"No need, Vice Admiral Gion. Just protect the warship. I'm… quite interested in this guy."

As Atlas spoke, he used Moonwalk to approach Katakuri, his entire body clad in Armament Haki.

A rapid succession of explosive bursts erupted beneath his feet, each blast's recoil propelling him forward at incredible speed.

"What an arrogant Marine. But harming my family is unforgivable. Are you prepared to die?"

Katakuri's expression remained cold. He showed little concern for Oven's death, yet sorrow and resentment flickered deep in his eyes.

"Adjutant! Inform the helmsman to move away from this area and rendezvous with Commodore Atlas from a safe distance!"

Hearing this, Gion stopped trying to dissuade him, silently ordering the warship to withdraw so it wouldn't hinder Atlas.

"Yes, ma'am!" the adjutant answered sharply.

Katakuri noticed but didn't interfere. His Observation Haki told him the only person here worth his full attention was the man before him.

As for the other Marines—hah!—they were nothing but small fry, except perhaps the female swordmaster.

"Katakuri, I think you're overestimating your strength," Atlas taunted mercilessly.

He was the kind who never backed down in a battle of wills. No matter what, he wouldn't show weakness in words.

The moment he finished speaking, his expression hardened. A terrifying aura erupted from him, pressing down directly on Katakuri—Conqueror's Haki.

Katakuri, unwilling to yield, unleashed his own overwhelming Conqueror's Haki. Instantly, black and red lightning crackled between them.

The sheer force knocked out fish in the surrounding waters and even some passing Sea Kings, their eyes rolling back white.

Fierce winds whipped Atlas's "Justice" coat wildly in the air.

After a stalemate of several dozen seconds, Atlas's willpower slowly gained the upper hand, forcing Katakuri's Haki back into his body. Round one—Atlas wins.

Katakuri said nothing, instead levelling his trident, Mogura, at Atlas.

The weapon spun violently, extending toward him with a series of deafening sonic booms—Mochi Thrust.

Unafraid, Atlas's face remained calm as flames burst from his palm. The massive pillar of explosive fire met the trident head-on—Soru: Explosion.

Swoosh! In the next instant, Atlas slipped through the fiery blast, reappearing behind Katakuri.

But just as he prepared a decisive strike, Katakuri's body shifted sideways, perfectly evading the blow—Observation Haki, the ability to see the future.

Atlas felt a pang of frustration. The future held infinite possibilities, but against someone who could glimpse it, there were almost no openings—unless his Observation Haki far surpassed Katakuri's, or his physical power completely overwhelmed him.

Even so, excitement glimmered in Atlas's eyes. A battle against such a strong opponent was worth every moment.

Finger Pistol!

He unleashed dozens of strikes in an instant, each aimed precisely at Katakuri's body.

Swish! Swish! Swish! The rapid blows tore through the air, piercing dozens of holes in Katakuri's form—yet no blood spilt.

Katakuri's Special Paramecia Mochi-Mochi Fruit allowed him to mimic a Logia's elemental transformation.

Combined with Observation Haki superior to Atlas's, he could predict the exact spot where every attack would land.

What a pain… Atlas cursed inwardly. I still have no idea how Luffy beat this guy in the original story. Unreal.

"Birdlime Mochi!" Katakuri's hand extended a whip of mochi, coated in heavy Armament Haki, lashing toward Atlas.

Atlas didn't even resist, letting his opponent have his move.

Boom!

An explosion erupted from his body, blowing the mochi whip into powder.

"Is this a child's toy, Katakuri?" Atlas mocked, then ignited another explosive burst beneath his feet, obliterating Katakuri's pirate ship into a spray of splinters.

Wreckage floated helplessly across the sea.

"Damn it! Is this guy not a Devil Fruit user?" Katakuri growled, now suspended mid-air. Destroying the ship had forced the fight into the sky.

Most strong fighters knew techniques like Moonwalk—common in the New World—but maintaining them quickly depleted their stamina.

"Your attacks can't hit me, Marine!" Katakuri called out, trying to shake Atlas's confidence.

"Ara ara… let's see if your fists can keep up, Katakuri!"

"Explosion: Battery!" A massive pillar of explosive flame roared toward Katakuri.

"Peerless Donuts!" Katakuri's arms morphed into multiple mochi limbs, each coated in Armament Haki, striking the flames from every direction while retreating backwards.

Boom! The shockwave blasted him over ten meters away.

Soru: Godspeed—Explosion! Before Katakuri could recover, Atlas charged in with terrifying velocity.

"I can't see him!?" Katakuri's heart sank. He couldn't track Atlas's movement. No wonder this man had defeated Oven.

"Iron Fist: Armament—Explosion!"

"Peerless Mochi Blade Bullet!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! The thunderous impacts churned the sea into towering waves.

"Are you kidding me? Is this a battle between monsters? To think he can fight Commodore Atlas on equal ground!"

"Of course! That's the pride of the Charlotte Family! But Commodore Atlas is as reliable as ever!"

From a distant vantage, the Marines watched in awe. Even at this range, the battle's aftershocks shook their bones.

Kyros, now in a Marine uniform, murmured with a conflicted look, "What kind of monster have I been recruited by?"

"Damn it… fighting in the air severely limits my Devil Fruit abilities," Katakuri thought, regaining his composure despite the disadvantage.

His Observation Haki locked firmly onto Atlas.

Suddenly, Katakuri's long leg split into several limbs without warning, each one hardened with Armament Haki as they struck toward Atlas at extreme speed. "Willow Mochi!"

Atlas's Observation Haki was already active. His body instantly flattened until it was as thin as a sheet of paper, swaying with the air currents created by Katakuri's strikes, effortlessly evading every blow.

"Although my Observation Haki isn't as refined as Katakuri's, it has at least reached an advanced level. As for Armament Haki, there's little difference in quality between us," Atlas thought, calmly analysing their strengths as he slipped through the barrage of kicks.

Katakuri was famed for his peerless Observation Haki, yet his Armament Haki was by no means lacking.

Seeing Atlas evade his Willow Mochi so easily, Katakuri's gaze darkened. His leg instantly transformed into mochi, coated in Armament Haki, and was rapidly compressed. Using the recoil as propulsion, he launched himself toward Atlas.

"Grilled Mochi!"

As he charged, the upper part of Katakuri's arm morphed into compressed mochi. Flames roared to life around it, the entire limb sheathed in jet-black Armament Haki. Like a rocket-propelled warhead, the strike threatened to rip the very air apart.

The deadly blow pierced straight through Atlas's body—only for the figure to shatter like a mirage. An afterimage!

Katakuri's Observation Haki screamed a warning. A torrent of mochi surged from his body, wrapping him completely, while a dense layer of Armament Haki reinforced the shell.

"Damn it! How can he be so fast?" Katakuri clenched his teeth. Just as Atlas was troubled by Katakuri's Future Sight, Katakuri himself found Atlas's speed, explosive power, and raw strength extremely difficult to counter.

"Bursting Fist: Armament!"

The soft voice seeped through the thick mochi layer, setting off alarm bells in Katakuri's mind. His muscles tightened, and the mochi armour thickened even further.

Boom!

The impact rocked the air, but Atlas's expression didn't change—Katakuri had anticipated the attack and fortified his defence. When the smoke cleared, a blackened sphere of mochi remained, which soon disintegrated into powder, carried away by the howling sea wind.

"Such frightening mastery of Observation Haki… You can predict nearly all of my moves, can't you?" Atlas said grimly, twisting his neck to loosen his muscles.

Swoosh! Before Katakuri could respond, Atlas closed the gap, ready for a brutal, close-quarters exchange. Katakuri reacted instantly, his arm shifting into mochi and hardening with Armament Haki. Though his Haki lacked the overwhelming density of Atlas's, he could still fight on equal terms for extended periods thanks to his Future Sight.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Armament-clad strikes crashed together with metallic screeches. Atlas occasionally used Life Return to expand his arms, the thick muscle fibres generating terrifying force. Katakuri, in contrast, moved like a many-limbed beast, producing countless Armament-coated tendrils. Guided by his future vision, he blocked every strike with perfect precision.

"It seems Atlas has finally met his match…" Gion observed from a distance, her Observation Haki focused on the battle. Though Atlas appeared to be on the offensive, Katakuri's ability to foresee the future left him unable to land a decisive hit.

Gion didn't know about Atlas's monstrous healing factor, but her slender fingers had already drifted to the hilt of her sword, Konpira. Even if Atlas had asked for a one-on-one fight, she couldn't just stand idle if the situation turned dire.

High above the battlefield, the clash reached a fever pitch. Atlas appeared slightly more battered, yet no serious injuries marked his body. Katakuri looked almost unchanged from when the fight began, save for the occasional shake of his numbed fists.

"Damn it… I can't use my fruit's Awakening up here," Katakuri cursed inwardly. The Mochi-Mochi Fruit's Awakening allowed him to assimilate his surroundings, transforming objects into mochi for him to control—but in midair, there was nothing to work with.

Was Atlas strong? Without question. His physical techniques, raw physique, and mastery of Haki left almost no weaknesses. Katakuri wondered what his chances would be without Future Sight. The answer was unclear—but certainly far lower.

"Marine, I acknowledge your strength… but harming my family is unforgivable. You will die here!"

"Sliced Mochi!"

Katakuri's arm expanded to a gigantic size, covered in sharp barbs like a spiked mace. Coated in Armament Haki, it spun at high speed. The flexible mochi allowed the spiked weapon to swing wildly like a flail, aimed straight for Atlas's head.

"Bring it on!" Atlas roared. Using Life Return, his already massive body swelled to over five meters tall. The muscles on his back twisted into a demonic visage, each fibre infused with black and crimson Armament Haki. Two strange markings extended from the corners of his eyes to meet at his forehead. His entire body radiated explosive, overwhelming power.

"Life Return: Armament—Martial God Body!"

Bang!

Atlas's colossal fist smashed into Katakuri's spiked club. Both were pure strength techniques—but with the Ox Talisman enhancing his power, Atlas held the clear advantage.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A volley of deafening sonic booms erupted around Katakuri. Overwhelmed in the contest of brute force, he lost control of his trajectory and was sent hurtling through the air.
