"You're an idiot, Grayson," Mailah whispered, her voice cracking slightly. "An absolute, grade-A idiot," she repeated, poking him in the chest one more time for emphasis. "And if you think that a five-minute speech and a mildly impressive telekinetic party trick are going to erase a month of psychological warfare, you are deeply, profoundly mistaken."
Grayson blinked, his hands still holding hers. "I didn't think it would erase it. I thought it was a start."
"A start?" Mailah pulled her hand back, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at him with eyes narrowed to sharp slits. "Oh, no. You don't get off that easy. If you think you can just saunter back out of the shadows, flash those ridiculously good cheekbones, and sweep me off my feet, you've got another thing coming, demon boy."
