"Ms., can you see me?" The doctor's voice was the first thing I heard when I opened my eyes.
"Can you see me? I want you to tell me how many fingers I am holding up." He held up three fingers.
"Three," I mumbled.
"Okay, good." He brought the penlight to my eyes, and after examining them, he mumbled some words to the nurse.
"Her motor reflexes are also good. Observe her for a few more days, and if she remains in a stable condition, we'll discharge her."
"Yes, doctor," the nurse replied, writing in her book. The doctor left, and the nurse moved closer to me. She smiled. "Hello, you underwent a minor surgery, but you're okay now. Your friend wants to speak to you; I'll let her in. I'll wait two hours before I bring your meal."
She patted my shoulder and left the room. The door opened, and Ruby entered, wearing a mask.
"You are okay now," she smiled at me.
"Hmm, what are they talking about?"
