Chapter 2 - Breakfast

Odette

"Hey, get up," I hear Anna's voice through the thick veil of my dreams, but the moment I try to move, my entire body aches, protesting.

I spent last night fixing that floorboard myself because no male omega wanted to do it for me, and I'm not sure how many hours I slept, but it was clearly not enough.

"Odette, get up!" Now, Anna pulls the blanket off my body, exposing me to the biting morning chill of our room. The other omegas like to sleep with the windows open at night and by the morning, the entire room turns into a freaking fridge.

"Ugh," is the only sound I manage, but it's enough of a sound for my friend to continue with whatever she started with.

"Come on, lazy butt, it's your turn to surve the Alphas today, remember?"

I frown in disdain. Yeah, I remember, but I wish I could forget about it.

The triplet Alphas of our pack are my tormentors, and every time I have to face them, it never ends well. Kael, Ronan, Lucien... They are so different and yet, they share one crucial flaw––they are cruel to me. For no apparent reason.

They had been cruel in the past, and they are still following their roles in this timeline, too.

"Yeah, yeah," I finally groan miserably in response, forcing my body to get off the bed. "Is there any hot water in the shower?"

"Yes," Anna nods and throws my uniform to me. "I made sure no one went in after me, so you'll be good."

I smile, catching my clothes mid-air.

Anna is the only girl I can trust here. Before I died, she was my only friend, and now that I am back... I feel the same. I don't think she was involved in my death, she is way too simple for anything so precarious.

Once I'm out of the shower and dressed in my uniform, I stand in front of the mirror and check my reflection. My fingers automatically reach for the strange crescent-shaped pendant hanging on my neck.

I did not have it in the past. When I woke up again a few days ago and found this thing around my neck, I panicked. I thought that someone had framed me and I'd be accused of stealing.

But then, as my fingertips brushed over its surface, I felt strangely calm again. It almost felt as if I had always had it with me. So I decided to keep it. And luckily, even though everyone knew how poor I was, no one asked for it.

It's like they all think I've always had it. And I guess... It's alright to keep it for now.

Leaving my room, I go straight to the kitchen to get the Alphas' breakfast. When they ask for me first thing in the morning, it always means that they need me to bring them breakfast in bed.

"Take this tray and bring it to the Alpha," Sophia, the pack's cook, growls at me as she hands me the antique wooden tray, carved with beautiful flower patterns.

I bit my lip, my hands shaking lightly as I accept the tray. It happens every damn time. I can't even look at this tray without feeling empty and betrayed.

This was Luna Stefanie's favorite piece. Luna Stefanie was the Alphas' mother.

"What are you waiting for?" Sophia's voice cuts through my consciousness like a lightning bolt. "Move your ass this instant!"

"Yes, sorry," I manage through gritted teeth, hurrying out of the room.

I don't need more trouble with the maids now. No more than I already have.

As I go upstairs to the Alpha floor, I can already feel my knees shaking.

I could never get used to facing them in the past, but now that I have gone back in time... somehow it feels even worse.

The first one I have to face today is Kael, and the closer I get to his bedroom, the clearer the reason for my anxiety becomes. He is not alone. He is with her.

Bracing myself for yet another session of mental abuse, I suck in a deep breath and finally knock on the wooden surface of the tall door. I've done it before, I can do it again.

A loud, happy giggle erupts right away, Selene's vibrant voice responding to my intrusion, "Come in!"

I sigh loudly and push the door open, prepared for whatever is waiting there for me.

What I see, however, goes beyond my wild expectations.

Both naked and sweaty, Kael and Selene's bodies are connected together, their glistening skin almost melting into one another.

Selene's straight, flowing hair is a mess of tangles and waves, sticking heavily to her sweat-covered back.

Her long, slender arms are wrapped around Kael's neck as she arches her back while receiving his loud, wet kisses.

I flinch when the alpha's dark eyes pause on me, my gaze immediately falling down to the floor.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know," I mumble under my breath. "Should I come back later?"

"No," Selene replies right away, her voice cold and commanding. "But you will have to wait a little. As you can see, we are not done yet."

She giggles at Kael, while the latter just smiles back at her and nibbles at her long neck, his fingers traveling down her flat belly until they finally stop before moving inside her, sending a jolt through her body.

She gasps in a fake expression of ecstasy, while I just keep standing there, my ears folding from the filthy cacophony of sounds I am forced to endure.

I feel disgusted. They usually never go this far. Sure, I've watched them make out and touch one another multiple times, but this is the first time I have to endure such an excessive play.

If the idea was to make me feel crushed, then I tip my hat to their cruelty.

Well done.

So I stand there, scared to move my eyes even an inch higher because I might catch a glimpse of their bodies shuddering in climax. I wish I could cover my ears, but I wasn't told to put the tray down, and I don't think making even a single move without Kael's permission will do me any good right now.

Finally, Selene's chest erupts with a loud moan, and I thank the Moon Goddess that it ended so quickly.

"Come here," I then hear Alpha's voice, and start walking toward the bed, my eyes still lingering on the floor.

"Give me a napkin," he commands again, and I do as I'm told.

Involuntarily, my eyes snap to his hand as it accepts the napkin, and I realize what it was for––he needed to wipe Selene from his fingers.

I struggle to suppress my disgust, and luckily, it works.

Kael throws the dirty napkin on the floor, and this time, I can barely stand still. He did it on purpose because he knows I will have to pick it up myself once he's done with me.

"Did you bring orange juice?" Selene asks me, and I simply nod.

"Yes, would you like some?"

She snaps her fingers at me like I'm a trained animal. "Give me the glass."

I do exactly that and wait for her to finish drinking, my eyes firmly glued to the rest of the things placed on the tray.

"Ugh, what the fuck?!"

Suddenly, Selene scowls angrily, and I automatically tilt my head up to ask her what is wrong, but I can't, as all I see is that same glass flying right into my face.

I don't know how I manage to retain my balance when the glass hits me in my right temple. My ears are ringing, and I know I'm bleeding because I can smell the blood.

I don't feel anything yet, but soon, I'm sure it will hit me.

"Pulp!" Selene squeaks. "You know I hate pulp! How hard it is to fucking memorize that!"

Yes, I know she hates pulp in her juice, everyone does. So I am not surprised a glass of juice with pulp appeared on the tray I was supposed to bring here.

The cook knew that Kael would be here with Selene. Once again, I was set up.

And how stupid am I? Even in my second chance at life, I still can't get a hold of my situation.
