Chapter 296 - Chapter 296: Burning the Evil Fortress

Blood Magic involved blood transplantation magic: merging magical creatures' bloodlines with oneself to gain their abilities.

Abilities such as Parseltongue, Metamorphmagus powers, and Veela charm all originated from blood magic. So did divination talents, blood curses, and even the Dumbledore family's remarkable summoning of phoenixes.

There was even a legend in the magical world that wizards' origins lay in ancient humans transplanting magical creatures' bloodlines, or interbreeding with humanoid magical creatures like Veela, thus gaining spellcasting abilities.

This theory explained the unique magical talents possessed by wizards. The Slytherin family's Parseltongue, the Dumbledore family's bond with phoenixes, the Trelawney family's gift for divination—all stemmed from this idea. Other abilities, like animal or plant affinity, could similarly be traced back to magical bloodlines.

Of course, this theory was scorned by pure-blood families in the magical world as absurd nonsense, rejected by the majority.

But now with this blood magic knowledge, perhaps this legend wasn't entirely unfounded.

What delighted Kael most was that with this blood magic, he could not only merge other bloodlines to gain other races' abilities, but also enable ordinary people to merge with magical creature bloodlines, thus gaining spellcasting abilities.

This way, he could create a wizard race unique to him in Middle-earth!

At this thought, excitement surged through Kael. Finally, he wouldn't be alone anymore.

Everyone has a sense of belonging. Kael, though he had two cities and tens of thousands of subjects, was surrounded only by ordinary people. Being a wizard, he naturally sensed a barrier separating him from them.

His relationship with elves was good. Ultimately, though, they weren't his race. He could never fully integrate into elven society or truly become one of them.

As for Gandalf, Radagast, and other "wizards," though called wizards, they were essentially Maiar demigods.

So Kael belonged neither to ordinary humans, nor to elves, nor to "wizards" like Gandalf. Now that he could create his own people, the isolation that had haunted him for so long would finally end.

As Kael's most intimate lover, Arwen sensed his joy from within. She looked at him, puzzled, and said softly, "Kael, is there something making you happy?"

Kael snapped back to the present. Seeing Arwen's concerned expression, his smile brightened as he squeezed her hand. "I just had an unexpected discovery, a great surprise sufficient to change Middle-earth's situation!"

Though Arwen didn't know the details, seeing Kael so happy, she was happy for him too.

After the banquet ended, Kael and Arwen stayed in the palace.

The next day, Ecthelion II buried the White Tree seed Kael had given him at the roots of the withered White Tree, hoping it would germinate and bring new vitality to Gondor.

But obviously, this dream was unlikely to be realized in his lifetime.

After he passed away, even during his son Denethor II's regency, this White Tree seed never showed movement, disappointing them greatly. They thought it would never germinate.

Only when Sauron was defeated in the future and Gondor welcomed a new king would this seed buried underground for nearly a century reawaken, breaking through the soil to take root and grow.

Of course, this was a matter for much later.

Kael and Arwen both witnessed the seed's planting. They could sense the seed had fallen into slumber. Even after watering it with fountain water, they saw no signs of awakening.

But neither spoke of this. Then, accompanied by Denethor II, they toured various buildings and sights in the royal city.

They stayed in Minas Tirith for a week before formally taking leave of Steward Ecthelion II. Once more in their carriage, they followed the road northward.

Crossing the Pelennor Fields, they came to Osgiliath on the Anduin riverbank.

This was once Gondor's earliest capital, spanning the Anduin. A year ago, Mordor's army poured from Minas Morgul fortress in full force, raiding Osgiliath and marching on Gondor's capital.

Only after Gandalf and Rohan's aid were Mordor's armies repelled, allowing Gondor to recapture western Osgiliath.

But the eastern district east of the Anduin, because Gondor's forces were insufficient to hold it, had to be regretfully abandoned.

A year later, signs of war still lingered in western Osgiliath, though the great bridge spanning the river had been repaired.

As for why repair the bridge, essentially giving Mordor the opportunity to cross and attack the west?

Besides Gondor being unwilling to abandon the eastern district, it was also to concentrate the Mordor army's attack pressure on Osgiliath, where Gondor troops were stationed.

Kael and Arwen's arrival wasn't blocked. The defending general personally invited them as guests.

Kael successfully completed his objective here, obtaining the Vanishing Cabinet's manufacturing process.

After finishing, as they were preparing to leave and continue north to Rohan, they happened to encounter nearly a thousand orcs emerging from Minas Morgul, attempting to raid Osgiliath.

Gondor's garrison, well-trained and skilled, repelled these orcs. Obviously, such situations often played out here.

But seeing these orcs, Kael suddenly had an idea.

"Arwen, wait here for me. I'm going somewhere briefly to give these orcs a fitting gift," Kael said softly to Arwen.

Arwen didn't stop Kael, nor did she ask where he was going. She only softly instructed, "Then be careful. Remember not to put yourself in danger."

Kael nodded, kissing her forehead. "I know. I'll be back soon."

With that, he transformed directly into a phoenix, disappearing in a flash of fire.

When he reappeared, he had already arrived above Minas Morgul fortress.

Minas Morgul was located in the Ephel Dúath mountains, the stronghold at Cirith Ungol pass leading to Mordor. Originally named Minas Ithil, it was Minas Tirith's sister city. After Sauron's forces captured it, it was renamed Minas Morgul.

The sudden appearance of Kael's phoenix form above Minas Morgul drew immediate attention from Mordor's soldiers.

They all shot arrows at the phoenix, attempting to shoot it down.

Kael shifted back to human form, his flying cloak keeping him airborne. Without hesitation, he released Fiendfyre toward the fortress.

This time, Kael had no intention of controlling the Fiendfyre. With destructive intent, he unleashed fires everywhere.

Uncontrolled Fiendfyre spread like wildfire, raging unchecked and continuously devouring Mordor soldiers in the fortress.

Within moments, various screams filled the air.

The Fiendfyre grew increasingly fierce, taking forms of fire dragons, Balrogs, and basilisks, burning all combustible things, even attempting to turn on Kael.

Kael snorted coldly, directly repelling the Fiendfyre trying to turn on its master.

Then his gaze turned toward Minas Morgul's highest tower. He used Blasting Curses to destroy the tower, exposing the Nazgûl hidden inside.

As Mordor's outpost stronghold, Minas Morgul's strategic position was crucial, so having a Nazgûl stationed here didn't surprise Kael.

The exposed Nazgûl treated Kael as a deadly enemy. Not daring to face him directly, it immediately hid in the wraith-world.

After all, two Nazgûl had already fallen by Kael's hand. The Nazgûl now feared him.

But Kael's purpose this time wasn't the Nazgûl. After achieving his goal, he immediately Apparated away.

He left only overwhelming Fiendfyre rampaging through Minas Morgul, devouring tens of thousands of Mordor soldiers and reducing them to ashes, while still spreading toward the surroundings.

Thunder rumbled. From Mordor's center, pitch-black clouds rapidly spread. In moments, the black clouds covered Minas Morgul. Accompanied by lightning and thunder, ominous black rain fell, emitting sulfur and acidic odors.

The originally fierce Fiendfyre, drenched by the black rain, rapidly wilted, gradually shrank, and extinguished.

The surviving Mordor soldiers also weren't spared. They were corroded and melted one by one, dying agonizing deaths.

Minas Morgul instantly became a forbidden land. Even buildings were continuously corroded and collapsed.
