Chapter 269 - Chapter 269: Magical Cloak

Kael received the cloth bundle from Arwen's hands and carefully unwrapped it.

Inside lay a cloak of deep black, like a fragment torn from the night sky itself. Light falling upon its surface seemed to be absorbed completely, unable to reflect at all.

Across this piece of captured darkness, countless tadpole-sized runic symbols had been embroidered densely with gleaming mithril thread. They resembled silver stars scattered across the heavens, distributed in precise patterns that formed mysterious, array-like designs.

The entire cloak had been woven from the giant spider Shelob's spider silk, then decorated with mithril thread in intricate patterns. Arwen had even woven strands of her own silver hair into the fabric, enhancing its magical stability while neutralizing the spider silk's inherent dark attributes.

This Invisibility Cloak had taken nearly a year to complete. Under Arwen's exquisite weaving and embroidery skills, it had become something truly magnificent and mysterious. The countless star-like runic symbols possessed genuine magical power, making the entire cloak appear extraordinary—a work of art and enchantment combined.

The Invisibility Cloak felt remarkably light, almost weightless in his hands.

Kael held it reverently, his face showing unmistakable joy.

He looked at Arwen with tenderness and deep gratitude. "Thank you, Arwen. Without you, this Invisibility Cloak could never have been created." Much less woven so quickly and with such perfection.

The cloak required weaving runic symbols into every single inch through the fabric itself, without any errors whatsoever. If even one thread was woven incorrectly, the entire piece would need to be scrapped and the work started over from the beginning.

Even a highly skilled weaver would need at least one full day to properly weave a single runic symbol with the required precision.

The entire Invisibility Cloak required at least tens of thousands of individual runic symbols. At normal speed, working continuously without rest and making no errors at all, it would take at least three years to complete.

Yet Arwen had helped him weave the Invisibility Cloak in less than a year—an incredibly impressive feat.

Moreover, her technical skill was extraordinarily superb. Even humanity's greatest master weavers could not reach such levels of artistry and precision.

Facing Kael's heartfelt gratitude, Arwen gently shook her head, her eyes full of starlight and warm smiles.

"Between us, no thanks are needed. I'm simply happy I could help you with something so important."

Hearing her tender words, warm emotion surged through Kael's heart. He pulled her into an embrace, burying his face in her fragrant hair. "I don't know when Gandalf will return from his travels," he mumbled against her shoulder. "I can't wait to marry you properly."

Arwen was momentarily flustered by his sudden embrace, but hearing his earnest words, her body softened as a brilliant smile bloomed across her beautiful face. Her whole being seemed to radiate a gentle, loving glow.

She tenderly stroked his broad back, offering comfort. "I've always belonged to you, Kael. We have a long future life together ahead of us—there's no need to rush."

After spending precious time with Arwen, they reluctantly parted ways.

Kael brought the newly completed Invisibility Cloak that Arwen had woven and returned to Isengard first.

On the open platform atop Orthanc Tower, Kael drew a precise seven-pointed star array on the stone floor using dragon blood as ink. Then he carefully placed the Invisibility Cloak at the magical circle's center.

Though the cloak had been woven, it still needed proper activation and massive magical power infusion to "charge" it fully, awakening the invisibility enchantments woven into every thread.

Activating the Invisibility Cloak and ensuring it would never fade required tremendous concentrated magical power.

But this crucial step did not trouble Kael. Not only did he possess the Philosopher's Stone—alchemy's highest achievement—but he also had access to other sources of immense magical power.

Kael retrieved the frost dragon's massive heart and placed it within the array's boundaries.

As the ancient frost dragon's heart, it contained tremendous accumulated magic, more than sufficient to serve as a "power bank" for the activation circle.

As Kael activated the magical array with a pulse of his wand, the frost dragon's heart began having massive amounts of magic continuously extracted from its tissues. After being filtered and refined through the Philosopher's Stone's alchemical perfection, this extremely unstable raw magic flowed steadily into the waiting Invisibility Cloak.

Simultaneously, the array not only drew from the frost dragon's heart but also, amplified by Orthanc Tower's inherent power, continuously attracted natural magic from all directions across the land.

Under this continuous magical infusion, each tadpole-shaped runic symbol embroidered on the Invisibility Cloak was sequentially illuminated, becoming dazzlingly bright—truly resembling stars coming to life.

Days passed in patient waiting.

On the seventh day, when the very last runic symbol finally blazed to life, the dark cloak became covered with countless glowing stars, radiating breathtaking beauty.

The massive frost dragon heart, completely drained of every drop of magic, withered entirely. It crumbled to ash and scattered in the wind.

The Invisibility Cloak now brimmed with magical power. Each runic symbol and woven thread formed complete magical circulation pathways that would continuously absorb external magic. Even after a thousand years, it would remain pristine and never fade.

The cloak itself had essentially become "alive" in a sense—even if damaged, it possessed the capability to self-repair over time.

When the runic symbols' brilliant light finally converged and settled into a soft glow, the Invisibility Cloak's creation was complete.

Kael cast Tergeo to clean the dragon blood from the stone floor, then approached the finished Invisibility Cloak and picked it up with careful hands.

The cloak instantly unfolded, floating weightlessly in the air as if supported by invisible hands.

One side of the Invisibility Cloak displayed densely packed runic symbols forming various mysterious geometric patterns—like the night sky dotted with countless points of starlight, magnificent and mesmerizing.

The other side appeared completely invisible to the eye. Even when bright sunlight shone directly on the cloak's surface, the light passed straight through it to fall on the ground behind, as if the fabric didn't exist at all.

Kael eagerly draped it over his shoulders, exposing the invisible side outward.

His entire body vanished from sight except for his head floating mysteriously in midair. Even when he looked down at where his body should be, he saw only emptiness and the stone floor beneath.

Not only was he visually invisible, but heartbeat sounds, magical fluctuations, even his scent were all completely shielded.

Kael retrieved a palantír to view himself through the seeing-stone's power. The ancient artifact could not display his image either, as if he had ceased to exist entirely.

Now Kael finally felt truly reassured.

This Invisibility Cloak genuinely deserved to be counted among the legendary Deathly Hallows, said to hide the wearer even from Death itself.

The palantíri could ignore obstacles like space, mountains, and solid walls to find anyone's image across vast distances.

Kael had worried about the Invisibility Cloak might not shield against palantír detection and magical tracking.

The current results indeed lived up to its Deathly Hallow reputation perfectly.

With this Invisibility Cloak, Kael no longer needed to fear Sauron's detection through the seeing-stones.

He even entertained thoughts of sneaking directly into Mordor while wearing the Invisibility Cloak, then casting the One Ring into Mount Doom's fires to eliminate Sauron once and for all, saving everyone considerable trouble.

But Kael only considered this briefly. Besides Tom Bombadil, who seemed immune to its influence, only hobbits possessed any natural resistance to the One Ring's corrupting power.

He was willing to lend the Invisibility Cloak for such a mission, but currently no suitable candidate existed who could successfully carry the One Ring to Mount Doom for destruction.

Bilbo now lived a peaceful retired life in Rivendell. Kael had no desire to ask his old friend to risk dangerous adventures again at his age.

As for the future hero Frodo Baggins, he had not yet been born.

Finding other suitable hobbits proved even harder.

Most hobbits lived simple, peaceful lives in the Shire, actively disliking adventures and anything that disturbed their comfortable routines.

Moreover, even hobbits were not entirely reliable against the Ring's influence.

Not all hobbits possessed purely innocent natures. Those distant relatives and greedy neighbors who coveted Bilbo's estate and wealth—if they encountered the One Ring, they probably could not resist its temptations long before being utterly corrupted.

Like the Ring's previous owner Gollum, originally a hobbit himself.

After finding the One Ring during a fishing trip with his cousin, he murdered his companion to monopolize the precious Ring, then fled into the Misty Mountains' depths, ultimately becoming corrupted into a twisted, monstrous creature.

Even the future protagonist Frodo, upon finally reaching Mount Doom after an exhausting journey, had been seduced by the One Ring at the crucial moment, wanting desperately to keep it for himself.

Fortunately, while fighting Gollum over possession of the Ring, it had accidentally fallen into Mount Doom's molten lava, successfully destroying the One Ring and completely eliminating Sauron's power.

The One Ring's corrupting power grew exponentially stronger and its influence deeper the closer one came to Sauron himself.

No one could truly guarantee resisting the Ring's overwhelming influence. Accidental exposure would essentially deliver the One Ring directly to Sauron on a silver platter.

That would be utterly catastrophic for all free peoples.

Currently, with the One Ring safely in Tom Bombadil's hands and protected by the Fidelius Charm, it remained far more secure than any alternative. There was no risk of Sauron obtaining it to regain his full terrifying power.

This was precisely why Gandalf, Elrond and the other wise council members were not rushing recklessly to destroy the One Ring despite knowing its danger.

Reining in his scattered thoughts, Kael looked down at his body-concealing Invisibility Cloak and flipped it to wear the star-emblazoned side outward instead.

The black cloak dotted with countless points of starlight made Kael appear far more mysterious and imposing.

Even more remarkably, the enchanted cloak actually lifted Kael gently into flight. The collar and back centerline clung comfortably to his body, while the wide hem spread dramatically like bat wings, enabling smooth aerial flight.

Kael had referenced the Marvel film Doctor Strange's magical Cloak of Levitation combined with traditional broomstick enchantment craftsmanship to add this flying capability to his Invisibility Cloak.

The cloak did not drag or pull Kael but instead made him feel light as if affected by Wingardium Leviosa, then guided him to move swiftly through the air with practiced ease.

The Invisibility Cloak's flight speed proved extremely fast, accelerating from complete standstill to 150 miles per hour in just ten seconds—matching the magical world's legendary Firebolt racing broom speed.

It also freed both of Kael's hands completely, allowing full combat capability during high-speed flight.

Like a child with a wonderful new toy, Kael flew continuously through Isengard's skies, adapting to this exhilarating new method of flight and testing its capabilities.

He even attracted Aslan's attention, who followed eagerly, chasing and racing playfully through the open sky.

For this remarkably multifunctional cloak integrating both invisibility and flight, Kael decided to simply name it the Magic Cloak.

He planned to wear it constantly from now on—it would prove useful at any moment for both travel and concealment when needed.

With the Magic Cloak finally complete, Kael did not linger at Isengard. He activated his Portkey to transport to far eastern Rhûn.

He planned to visit Blue Wizard Rómestámo while obtaining the Araw cattle horns needed for his Felix Felicis potion.
