Chapter 11 - I don't like you

Lydia's POV

"Mate?" I asked myself as I kept looking at the guy who was staring at Felisha like a psycho. Then I remembered what my mother told me about mates. So… Felisha is getting married soon? I thought, shaking my head in pity. This world is so cruel! What if she doesn't like her mate, huh?

I watched as Felisha's face twisted in anger. "Mate?" she said with a smirk, and he nodded, moving closer to her.

"I finally found you," he said with a warm smile, and Felisha laughed mockingly.

"I don't like you. How can my mate be a mere soldier in this fucking pack!" she roared in anger. I watched her in disbelief.

"Please don't say that," the guy spoke, his voice laced with urgency. I stood there unable to mutter anything, because the whole thing was just strange to me.

The guy moved closer to Felisha while she moved back, avoiding him, and they did that until Felisha had nowhere to go as her back was on the tree we sat under. The guy got very close to her, like he'd kiss her, making me narrow my eyes. And then, before I could intervene, Felisha slapped him hard on his face, causing him to be shocked.

"Mate?" he said in disbelief, and Felisha pushed him back, creating a distance.

"Don't call me that… I can't have a weak mate like you!" Felisha retorted.

"N-no, let's figure it out," the guy said, like he was in pain. I watched them, unable to say something, like I was watching a horror movie.

"I, Felisha Braxton, reject you as my mate."

His face froze immediately after he heard her words. Then he clutched his chest.

"No… you don't mean it…" he replied, gritting his teeth, and then he shouted in pain, falling on the floor, clutching his chest harder. Immediately, a shiny bracelet appeared on his hand and Felisha's hand and the bracelet broke off their hands, its pieces creating a clicking sound as they touched the ground.

"Wha—" I wanted to say but was interrupted by his loud shout. He was struggling, struggling like he'd die soon.

"Felisha, save him! Do something!" I spoke as I looked at Felisha, only to meet her cold and pained gaze. She too was clutching her chest, but it looked like the guy was more in pain than she was.

I watched the guy, who was now behaving like a mad person, and immediately his bones started snapping as he transformed into a wolf, howling loudly before running out of our sight. Then Felisha knelt down with a loud thud, hissing.

"Are you okay?" I asked her in concern as I watched her still clutching her chest in pain.

"I will be okay," she replied, then looked directly at me, her cold eyes bringing chills to my bones. "If he dies," she added, and got up.

"Let's go," she said, leading the way, as I limped behind her. We parted ways without saying anything, which was totally strange to me. What's even wrong with Felisha?

I questioned as I headed to my room, still limping. When I got there, I lay on my bed in deep thought, and I remembered what Felisha said about her mate being weak. If perhaps I find my mate, should I reject him if I consider him weak?

I questioned myself, and immediately I heard a familiar annoying voice.

"We can't reject our mate," Delia said, causing me to roll my eyes.

"That has nothing to do with you, Delia," I replied, then I heard a low chuckle belonging to her. "What's so funny?" I raised my brow in question, clearly getting irritated by her.

"Nothing is funny, but we can't reject our mate. Rejecting a mate is not something you just do if you want. You must have a good reason. But I guess Felisha is just too selfish and wicked, because I see nothing bad in her mate, yet she rejected him. She doesn't know she just changed her fate."

"Don't you dare call Felisha wicked!" I defended Felisha, annoyed by Delia's remark.

Then again I heard her laugh, this time in mockery. "You know the truth, yet you want to act ignorant. You should be careful around her," Delia warned.

"I am done receiving lectures from you. Just shut up!" I retorted in anger, and then there was total silence, making me sigh in relief.

"Having problems with your wolf?" came a familiar voice, which startled me.

"Judith…?" I spoke in surprise. She made a shush sign to me, making me press my lips together.

"You're not permitted to call me by my name. What if any of our superiors hear you? You'll be in big trouble. I guess you've caused a lot of stir since you came here, so don't add more to your plate," she advised me and walked close to my bed.

"Are you just coming in?" I asked, looking around, and she nodded in reply.

"You were so focused on talking to your wolf that you didn't notice my arrival," she spoke with a soft giggle, causing me to smile shyly.

"Yes… she's so annoying and stubborn," I replied, and I could feel Delia roll her eyes.

"Don't dare bad-mouth me!" she screamed in my head, causing me to laugh in disbelief.

"You're silly," I spoke out loud, causing Judith to widen her eyes in amusement and silently point at herself.

"Me?" she spoke.

"Ah~ not you, it's my wolf," I corrected myself, which made her smile.

"Oh… then you should go easy on her, at least try understanding her," Judith advised, and I could feel Delia jumping in happiness, causing me to roll my eyes and Judith got the wrong idea again.

"No! it's not you," I said, waving my hand with an awkward laugh.

"Ah… haha, no problem. How is your leg?" she asked, looking at my leg.

"Umm… it's kind of better now," I replied with a smile.

Immediately, I felt a slight burn in the place where the necklace pendant rested on my neck, and I gasped in pain. Instinctively, I touched the necklace, and my body jerked as I entered into a blurry trance.

"Kai… Kai… Kaido…" I heard a voice trying to pronounce a name, but it wasn't complete, and everything began to spin. I began to see the man in my dreams, but it was all blurry yet I knew he was the one. Then I heard it again.

"K… K… K…" before I snapped back to myself with a deep inhale and exhale.

"K!" I spoke out loud before looking up, only to find Judith staring at me in the most weird way.
