Chapter 109 - The final truth

Keith's POV

The door to Kieran's room opened and Eleanor slipped out, her movements hurried, almost fleeing.

"excuse me," she said as she passed me and Kayden in the hall, her head down.

My gaze narrowed, locking onto the closed door. Why was she coming from Kieran's room? A cold knot tightened in my stomach. Wait. Did she see it? Did she see the face?

Before I could intercept her, she was gone. Kayden didn't hesitate, pushing the door open and stepping inside. I followed, my posture rigid, prepared for the worst—for the sight of my brother hunched and broken, hiding that monstrous visage.

The scene that greeted me was… wrong.

Kieran was sitting calmly on the edge of his mattress. His face—his own face—was fully visible, clear of the curse's distortion. Worse, there was a sense of placid satisfaction about him, a tranquility I hadn't seen in him before. This should be impossible, and yet, its not.
