Time goes by.
Half of 2008 has passed in the blink of an eye.
Kara hasn't acted as a hero since that nearly botched plane rescue.
Today, Kara goes by the alias Kayla Parker and attends Midtown High School, while Clark is still doing his daily routine.
As Superman fights crime, there is Clark who continues to develop the Parker Group.
.....
"Carl, let's go. Aunt May told me that I'm going to attend the Stark Group's dinner today. Is that true?"
At the end of the school day at Central City High School, Kara skipped out of school like a normal junior high school student and got into the passenger seat of Clark's luxury car.
"That's true. The Stark Group is about to start close cooperation with the military, so they invited our family to participate."
After Kara sat firmly, Clark started the luxury car. With the roar of the engine, the brother and sister drove away amid the envious gazes of their classmates.
"Stark Group? It's the arms trade again, right?"
After living in human society for nearly half a year, Kara has learned a lot of experimental things, and for people living in New York, the Stark Group can be completely regarded as an experiment.
"Yes, arms trade. After the Ten Rings Gang incident two years ago, various countries were stimulated by the Ten Rings Gang and began to research new weapons. The United States naturally chose the well-known genius in the country, Tony Stark."
"It's impossible for Tony Stark to provide weapons to the whole world by himself."
Clark nodded.
"It's not that Stark Group can't do it, but other countries won't directly seek cooperation with Stark Group. Stark Group's arms and Parker Group's new materials are not the same concept."
The conversation between the siblings was not like the conversation between a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old boy or girl, but there was nothing they could do. After all, they were Kryptonians. Most of the things that ordinary people regarded as topics of conversation were not worth mentioning in the eyes of Kryptonians.
Only such major national affairs could arouse the interest of two people in communicating.
"Other countries buy new materials from me. They can check the performance of the materials themselves and use them in appropriate places according to the performance and their own conditions. But arms are different. Not to mention that the United States will never allow Stark Group to sell the most advanced weapons to foreign countries. Even if it sells them, will other countries dare to use them?"
"Even if they do buy, they will only buy it from the US government for the second time, not directly from the Stark Group. Those are weapons, weapons used in war. No country would rely on Tony's personal reputation to determine the variables of war."
Hearing this, Kara thought for a while and soon remembered the recent news about the establishment of cooperation between the United States and Britain and France.
I guess just as Clark said, Britain and France purchased a certain amount of arms through the United States as an intermediary.
As for the other two countries, they did not cooperate with the United States, but simply increased their orders for new materials from the Parker Group.
They do not intend to rely on the Stark Group to iterate their weapons, but instead intend to develop new weapons through new materials and their own capabilities.
Thinking of this, Kara suddenly felt uneasy.
"Karl, you said they were developing new weapons, why?"
"..."
Clark was silent.
He heard the hidden meaning in Kara's words and knew that this was an unavoidable contradiction.
If the most obvious contradiction on Earth is the terrorists in third world countries, then a large number of US foreign operations are carried out in the name of anti-terrorism.
Clark would not get involved in these things as Superman.
After all, one or two people is a crime, one or two thousand people is a rebellion, and ten or twenty thousand people...that's a revolution.
Clark does know who is right and who is wrong between the terrorists and the country, but this is not something he can interfere with as Superman.
But those terrorists have unstable funds, and some of them don't even know about the Parker Group's new materials.
Do they need to ask countries to step up production of new weapons?
So, needless to say, what exactly these new weapons were created for?
"Karl..."
Looking at her cousin's slightly sad expression, Kara felt a little reluctant. She had had an idea a long time ago, but she had never said it out loud.
"Why don't we..."
"Kara, stop talking."
Clark interrupted Kara.
"I grew up on Earth, I love this planet, and no matter what, before things become unchangeable, I am willing to believe that humans can change."
Looking at Clark's determined eyes, Kara knew that it was useless to continue persuading him because her cousin had his own judgment.
However, Kara is not worried. As a Kryptonian, all they have is time. It doesn't matter whether humans change or continue to be stubborn.
If this last compatriot and cousin of his insists, what would it matter if he stays with him until the extinction of mankind?
The yellow sun of the solar system alone can burn for at least 50 billion years. What they lack the least is time.
....
In silence, the two soon arrived at the building where Stark defeated the party and saw Benjamin and May waiting downstairs.
After Clark presented the invitation, the family quickly entered the banquet hall.
"Mr. Parker!"
"I didn't expect Mr. Parker to be so busy and come here."
"You may not know this, but Mr. Richard used to have a good relationship with Mr. Stark, and now, Mr. Parker is naturally the same."
He was surrounded by chairmen of other companies.
This is a banquet hosted by Tony Stark, the richest man in the United States. Naturally, only the chairman of a company is eligible to be invited to attend.
Naturally, these people all know the Parker Group, which is currently the second largest company in the United States after the Stark Group.
Even many of their companies need to rely on Parker Group's new materials.
Everyone agrees that only by establishing a firm cooperative relationship with the Parker Group can their company keep up with the trend of the times.
Naturally, when they saw the Parker family come in, everyone gathered around them.
Benjamin smiled. Now that two years had passed, he naturally understood that the Mr. Parker these people were talking about was not himself, Benjamin Parker, but his child, Clark Parker.
Without staying there to disturb everyone's conversation, Benjamin took May and Kara and went somewhere else.
Naturally, there were some people on the road who wanted to establish contact with Clark through Benjamin, but they were all rejected by Benjamin.
He has already retired. He can't stand the devilish working atmosphere of Parker Group now, and he doesn't want to manage Parker Group anymore.
