CHLOE'S POV
True to his words, Keith arrived exactly after 30 minutes. We are currently in my room discussing about the project.
"Don't you think it's too... revealing?", he spoke with raised brows. Well we were arguing over the design I chose for my dress.
"No, I don't", I countered. The dress was a backless and strapless with a deep V-neckline. It was also bodycon with a slit that went up till mid thigh.
"Think about it. You wearing this dress that day and all the eyes that are gonna be on you. I mean you're really pretty but in a dress like that, people are gonna think that you're a slut"
Ok, I hate to admit that he is right.
Why!!!
Wait, did he just call me pretty?!!!!!
My cheeks are burning up right now.
" Ok, fine, I'll come up with a better design", I caved in.
" Good, cos I wouldn't want other guys to flirt with you"
" Why?"
" Because you're my friend and no friend of mine is gonna end up with a jock"
" O-k", I said unsure of how to reply.
We fell into an awkward silence that I wish would end but I actually didn't know what to say.
" Uhmm... I was wondering if maybe we could get the fabrics and start making the outfit"
" You're right, let's go"
" Ok, but are you planning on going in that?", he asked as he gestured to my clothes and then it hit me.
What I was wearing wasn't actually proper to wear outside.
" Just gimme a few minutes to change"
" Ok", he stood up and left the room.
I went into my closet and rummaged through until I found something nice and simple.
Casual floral knee-length dress with spaghetti straps and flats. I left my hair in a messy bun as it still looked nice and didn't even bothered to wear makeup. I picked up my phone and head downstairs.
" I'm ready!!", I announced as I came down the stairs.
Keith stared at me for a long time before speaking.
" Ok, let's go then", he said and walked out the door. I grabbed my keys, walked out the door and locked it before meeting up with Keith who was already in his driveway.
" What are you doing?", I asked as he walked past his car and went into his house.
He didn't answer me and just went straight in. I stood there by myself, thinking about my sister who is yet to call me and let me know about her whereabouts and wellbeing.
Looking at the situation, she is acting like the rebellious teenager who ran away with her boyfriend, making me the mom who is worried sick about her daughter.
"A penny for your thoughts?", Keith pulled me out of my thoughts and I really didn't hear his footsteps.
"Let's just go", I dodged his question changing the topic. I didn't want to talk about Jess, cos I'll end up being a crying mess.
"Ok, well since the shop is just a few blocks away, I thought maybe we could walk. It's ok if you don't want to"
"It's fine", I said and started walking.
Maybe the weather could help clear my head.
Keith caught up with me and we walked in a comfortable silence.
============================
After about 5 minutes of walking we arrived at FLORA'S FABRICS, a well-known fabric store that had almost everything a fashion designer could think of.
"So, what are the fabric colors again?", Keith asked, rubbing the nape of his neck.
"Black and vermillion, and you should get them. I'm gonna get the rhinestones and a few other things for my dress", I spoke and left without waiting for his reply.
I walked round that aisle, until I spotted the perfect kind of rhinestones I want, heart-shaped and diamond-like.
I picked about 16 bags of the rhinestones and grabbed the glue needed (a lot) and headed towards the counter.
"Hey, Misha", I greeted the lady at the counter.
"What's up, Chloe?", she beamed. Misha is a lady in her mid-fifties and she has been working here for over a decade.
"I'm good, you?"
"I'm happy seeing you here. What happened? Why'd you stop coming?", she asked, her eyes filled with concern and worry.
"Nothing, I just couldn't bring myself to start making dresses again but here I am", I tried to smile.
"I've missed you and your clumsiness", she joked.
"Ha ha, very funny. I just came to drop these and get more"
" Okay, dear", she said and I left.
I was walking in the aisle of fabrics when I spotted Keith and a girl talking. It seemed like the girl was flirting with him but he wasn't interested.
Poor her, she doesn't seem to understand that he isn't interested.
I walked towards Keith and took the fabrics from him.
"I'll just take these to the counter"
"Ok", he said smiling and then turned to the girl.
"Samantha, this is my girlfriend", he spoke, making me look at him like he has 3 heads.
He winked at me, as a signal for me to play along. I had no choice but to do it.
"Yeah, this cutie here is my loving boyfriend", I smiled sweetly at her, while she was busy glaring daggers into my head.
"Anyways, I could give you my number if you wanna hang out later", she batted her obviously fake lashes at him.
Doesn't she give up!!!
" I'm good. My little pumpkin and I are perfect for each other", he replied wrapping his arm around my waist.
I tensed up at this act but couldn't bring myself to say anything.
Stop it, you flipping butterflies!!!!!
"He's right, dear. This cutie right here is taken", I smirked and pecked his cheek. He seemed surprised but quickly regained himself and waved 'goodbye' to Samantha.
She reluctantly left, but not without glaring at me.
Stupid bimbo!!!
I chuckled before walking over to the counter with Keith following closely behind me.
"Misha, add these to the list to", I spoke to the woman, who was staring weirdly at Keith and I.
"What's wrong?", I asked out of curiosity.
"Nothing", she replied rather quickly.
"Are you sure?"
"Not actually, I just have a question in mind"
"Which is?"
"Are you two dating?"
