Chapter 9: Golden Brilliance.... Lost(4)

" Sol please get up! They're coming for us!" Lora's distressed voice easily snapped him back to reality.

This was not the time to sit down and feel regret. This was the time to...survive.

Jumping on to his feet, he immediately unsheathed the blade strapped to his waist. He silently thanked goodness that he always had his sword by his side.

" Lora, once again, I'm sorry. I promise to fix my mess. I won't let you get hurt!" He pointed the tip of his sword facing the ceiling of the tunnel, as he gripped the hilt tightly with both hands and stood in front of her, ready to protect her from any harm.

Seeing this, Lora couldn't help but smile. * As stupid as he was, he still knew how to fix a mistake and capture a girl's heart,* she thought, as a smile blossomed on her face.

Clank, clank!

Soon they were surrounded by about twenty soldiers, each releasing a menacing aura.

Sol was shaking from head to toe as the auras from battle hardened men pressed down on him. Even if he was scared, he was still determined, he wasn't going to let them kill him, nor Lora.

But then a soft and delicate hand fell on his shoulder, calming his shaking body," my love. You aren't yet strong enough to fight these people. Let me do that for you,". Lora's soft and melodious voice resounded through his mind.

[ Flashwind Severance]

A sword arc suddenly came out of nowhere, slicing off the head of three guards all at once.

Shock!

Everyone felt nothing else but shock. Especially Sol. He was the most shocked. He knew Lora was strong, but how was it possible that just one of her sword strikes was able to kill three people all at once.

At this moment, Solarien felt a wave of three strange emotions.

First, he was suprised

Second he was elated that she had finally called him her lover.

Third, he was ashamed. Just earlier this morning, he was reeling in the joy of finally being able to beat her, but now he realized that she had been going easy on him since the very first day. He was a prince who had only faced fake hardships. This alone made him want to die.

The worst of it all, he still had to hide behind her back so as to not die. A man being protected by a woman. It was the kind of embarrassment where he would have preferred death instead.

" Sol, don't be scared," Lora said again, her voice calm and resolute.

" They are all guards, meaning that their profession would be warriors, and at most, their vein rank would be at the 2nd rank of the Dormant realm. They aren't much stronger than you. So stop shaking and start fighting!"

Shatter!

It was like glass breaking on a hard but smooth surface.

Dormants weren't really much stronger than average people. The only thing that sets them apart is the fact that they have profession.

But for Dormants of the warrior profession, they were much closer to the common man, unlike other professions like elementals and arcanist.

Other than the fact that they could weild a sword much better than a farmer's boy, along with the fact that they have a great physical body compared to the masses, Dormants of the warrior profession aren't really as impressive as the other professions. That's why most of them just become guards and protectors of actual nobles.

* She's right! Stop standing and start fighting Solarien!* He thought deeply in his mind, as he flashed forward with great speed. It was a technique he had learnt, while training with Lora, he had found many ways of increasing his speed by just looking at her. Then again, Lora was an elementalist with the wind attribute at the Dormant realm, so it was expected for her to be much faster than a regular man.

Tightening the grip on his sword even more, Sol charged forward into the team of soldiers. Today, he had to survive. He had to win, for today would mark as one of the most important days of his life.

Today would be the day that would decide his life and death.

HE HAD TO LIVE!!

" You all want me dead, right? Then come and kill me!"

" Stay in formation and attack!" One of the knights said, as he could feel the impending danger when facing these two. A prince and a servant.

It was a bit weird to be scared of them, but what choice did he have. He had already picked a side, and so there was no turning back.

He couldn't underestimate them, as he had no idea what kind of treasures the child of the strongest person in the world could be holding, so they all had to be cautious around him.

CLANK!!

Soon, the sound of sword clashing against sword was heard, as the scent of blood and iron thickened in the air.

••••••

" Send word to our spies, I want to have an update on Micheal and Nivea," Henry exclaimed, slamming his hand on the table in the dinning hall.

He hadn't expected that his plan of killing Sol would be eliminated by a palace insect with delusions of loyalty.

He couldn't let Sol live. If he did, then his plan would be ruined as there would still be royal blood alive somewhere in the world, and that alone would always make him angry and annoyed.

He wanted all of the Althurions to be wiped out so as to be granted the royal blood by Alzuras.

In this world, strength is everything, and you have to gain it through hard work.

But having royal blood is like taking a shortcut. And although it is a power controlled by a patron god, the patron god cannot take or change the royal blood unless the bloodline of the former wielder of the blood is dead, and the royal blood returns back into the possession of patron god, allowing him to grant it on to someone else.

The only other way for him to take the royal blood without killing Sol, is if Sol denies the blood and destroys all connection he has with his patron god.

But knowing Sol, he would so no such thing. At least not yet. So there was only the option of killing him left.

This was his main prize, and so to gain it, Solarien had to die. If he lived, then he, Henry, would have no royal blood even if he became the king of the empire.

" Find him! Find him!!! I want his body by sunrise!!"

Today was a dangerous day. A day that would be soaked in blood and rain.

Today would not be the rise of Solarien, nor the day of his fall, but the fall of "her". The fall of the only companion.
