Chapter 2 - A Glimpse of Fate

Lily's mind wandered as she walked home, her thoughts consumed by the breakup she had witnessed between Jasmine Knight and the mysterious man. Who was he? What had led to the breakdown of their relationship?

As she turned a corner, she noticed a sleek, black car parked by the curb. Suddenly, it hit her – this was the car she had seen the man getting into after breaking up with Jasmine. Curiosity got the better of her, and she hid in the shadows, peeking out to catch a glimpse of the driver.

Just as she was about to get a good look, the driver glanced up, and their eyes met. Lily's heart skipped a beat as she realized she had been caught staring. The man's piercing gaze seemed to bore into her soul, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.

Lily felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she quickly looked away, trying to play it cool. But it was too late. The man had already seen her, and she could sense his curiosity piqued.

As she turned to leave, Lily heard the car door open, and the man's footsteps followed her. She quickened her pace, wondering who this enigmatic stranger was and why she felt such a strong reaction to him.

Little did she know, their paths would cross again soon, changing the course of her life forever.

The man's eyes seemed to gleam with a mixture of amusement and annoyance as he looked at Lily. "Little Yellow," he said, his voice low and smooth. "You seem to be curious about my personal life. Let me tell you something about Jasmine. She broke one of the most important rules of our... arrangement."

Lily's curiosity was piqued. "What rule?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The man's expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with a hint of danger. "The rule that she should never develop feelings for me, no matter what happens. And yet, she did. And that's why it's over between us."

Lily felt a shiver run down her spine as the man's words hung in the air. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of arrangement he had with Jasmine, and what kind of person he was to dictate such rules.

The man's gaze seemed to bore into her soul, as if searching for something. "You're quite curious, Little Yellow," he said, his voice low and husky. "I like that."

The man's laughter was mocking, but Lily stood her ground, her eyes flashing with determination.

"I bet you're regretting breaking up with Jasmine," she said, her voice steady. "One day, you'll fall in love, and it'll be your downfall."

The man's laughter only grew louder, his eyes glinting with amusement. But Lily wasn't deterred. She took a bold step forward, her heart pounding in her chest.

"I want to sign that contract," she said, her voice firm. "I'm willing to take the risk. And I'll make sure you fall for me."

The man's expression changed, his eyes narrowing slightly as he reached out to caress her hair. "Little Yellow, it's like you don't know me," he said, his voice low and husky. "Where I live is hell, and you're too small to be there."

But Lily was undeterred. She smiled up at him, her eyes sparkling with challenge. "You're scared," she said, her voice taunting. "You're trying to back out because you might fall in love with me."

The man's laughter was mocking, but he reached into his pocket and pulled out a business card. "Meet me at my house if you're so brave," he said, his eyes glinting with challenge. "Let's see how long you last."

And with that, he turned and got into his car, driving away and leaving Lily standing alone, wondering what she had just gotten herself into.

Lily walked home, the business card clutched in her hand. As she entered her apartment, she stared at the card, the man's name and address embossed on it. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she thought about meeting him at his house.

She walked over to the mirror and gazed at her reflection. Her eyes seemed ordinary, her nose was slightly crooked, and her skin was smooth but not flawless. She couldn't help but compare herself to Jasmine Knight, the beautiful singer who had been broken up with by the same man.

Lily's thoughts turned negative. "What's the point?" she thought to herself. "I'm not pretty enough, not talented enough. What could he possibly see in me?"

She tossed the business card onto the table, feeling a sense of doubt wash over her. Maybe she was foolish to think she could ever catch his attention. Maybe she was just a joke to him.

As she turned away from the mirror, her eyes fell on the business card again. Something inside her sparked. She picked it up, her fingers tracing the embossed letters.

"No," she thought to herself. "I'll show him. I'll meet him, and I'll make him see me."

The man, CEO Julian Blackwood, walked into his mansion, his footsteps echoing through the grand hallway. He made his way to his study, the dim lighting and leather-bound books a familiar comfort.

As he sat behind his desk, he couldn't help but smirk, recalling the encounter with Lily. "Little Yellow," he whispered to himself, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.

He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he replayed their conversation. Her boldness and determination had caught him off guard, and he found himself intrigued.

Julian's smirk grew wider as he thought about her conviction that she could make him fall in love. "How... entertaining," he thought to himself.

He leaned forward, his eyes glinting with anticipation. "I'll give her a chance to prove herself. Let's see how long she lasts in my world."

With a flick of his wrist, he activated the intercom. "Rachel, make sure the guest room is prepared for... Little Yellow. She'll be visiting soon."
