Chapter 83: Mendi's Reminder!
The day of the Demon God Pillar Rank Challenge of the Love Demon God, Sidi, had arrived.
The location: a massive arena at the center of Demon City.
This arena was personally protected by the Star Demon God Vashak, and the shield encasing it could withstand the impact of up to 700,000 spiritual power.
This challenge was open to the public, allowing any demon to enter the arena and witness the battle. However, due to strict limits, not many could actually attend.
Though theoretically open, only those of at least the seventh level had a chance to qualify. Without backing from a Demon God, demons below that level had no right to enter.
A Demon God Pillar Rank Challenge was a once-in-a-century event.
The closer a Demon God Pillar ranked toward the top, the more terrifying the power it contained, and the stronger the amplification effect it provided to its wielder. Most importantly, each pillar inherited the strength of its previous master, making them nearly unchallengeable without great opportunity or fortune.
As expected—
News that the Eleventh Pillar, Love Demon God Sidi, was challenging the Tenth Pillar, Lightning Demon God Pal, quickly spread like wildfire.
The arena, capable of holding 100,000 spectators, was filled to the brim.
A sea of demons swarmed the seats.
After all, this wasn't just any battle—it was a top-ten Demon God showdown!
In the best viewing area stood a raised platform.
Upon that platform were three thrones—for the Sun, Moon, and Star Demon Gods.
Below them sat sixty-nine chairs, one for each of the other Demon Gods.
Nearly all who could attend had shown up.
The top forty Demon Gods were present in full force.
Except for a few low-ranking Demon Gods still guarding the frontlines of the war with humans, almost every pillar-holder had arrived.
Even the candidates for Demon God Pillar succession were all gathered.
Though their seating wasn't assigned, there was an open zone reserved for successors—an area with a broad, unobstructed view of the arena.
Naturally, Yue Ye and Leng Xiao, as royal witch princesses, had full access to this space.
Lin Ze, Leng Xiao, and Yue Ye arrived together.
But as soon as they stepped into view—
They instantly became the center of attention among all the successors.
Of course, it wasn't Lin Ze himself that drew their gazes.
It was Leng Xiao, standing next to him—the daughter of Demon God Emperor Feng Xiu.
The moment she appeared, every successor rose from their seats and bowed respectfully:
> "Welcome, Your Highness Leng Xiao!"
Today, Leng Xiao had shed her usual liveliness. She nodded calmly, her posture befitting the dignity of her royal status.
After all, her behavior here represented the face of Feng Xiu, the Demon God Emperor.
Leng Xiao scanned the seats of the successors but didn't see her brother A Bao.
So, she guided Lin Ze and Yue Ye toward an empty space nearby.
> "Sister Yue, Lin Ze—let's sit here."
Lin Ze smiled and said:
> "Sister Xiao Xiao, maybe I shouldn't. After all, you're a princess. It might not look good if I sit beside you in public."
He didn't want to bring unnecessary trouble to Leng Xiao in such a formal setting.
Yue Ye chuckled:
> "His Majesty's seat is facing this direction anyway."
Hearing this, Leng Xiao looked toward the high platform opposite them—and sighed.
Helpless, she sat in the front row by herself.
Lin Ze and Yue Ye exchanged a glance and took seats behind her.
However, as soon as the three of them settled down, the attention in the area shifted again—this time fully onto Lin Ze.
This was the first time many of them had seen him in person.
And more importantly—
He seemed very close with Yue Ye.
Everyone knew that Yue Ye was known for her cold and untouchable demeanor—a cold queen figure whom almost no man dared approach.
But this man...
Not only did he walk in beside Leng Xiao, but he also sat next to Yue Ye.
In the past, they had never seen Yue Ye or Leng Xiao socialize closely with any male—except for A Bao, Feng Xiu's son.
And yet, Lin Ze wasn't just close—he was sitting so close to Yue Ye that they could brush arms with the slightest movement!
Clearly, their relationship wasn't simple.
Though Lin Ze had attended a banquet seven years ago, he was still a child then. The changes in the years since had made him almost unrecognizable.
Just then, Lin Ze suddenly sensed hostility directed at him.
He turned and saw a blue-skinned inheritor with blue eye bags and lips glaring at him.
> "Sister Yue, who is that guy?" Lin Ze asked quietly.
Yue Ye replied:
> "Him? That's Lightning, the inheritor of the Lightning Demon God."
> "Why? Did something happen?"
Lin Ze shook his head.
> "Nothing. I was just curious."
> "Well, this is your first time meeting the other inheritors. Let me give you a quick introduction before the battle starts."
Yue Ye began introducing the surrounding inheritors one by one.
But before she could finish, new figures continued entering the viewing area.
Soon, a man in white robes appeared.
His eyes were covered by white cloth, his hair was long and silver-white, and his vision seemed entirely unaffected.
Seeing the newcomer, Leng Xiao's eyes lit up as she looked behind him and asked:
> "Mendi, where's Brother A Bao? Weren't you with him?"
The man was Mendi, inheritor of the Star Demon God Vashak, and he was almost always with A Bao.
Mendi replied softly:
> "Your Highness Leng Xiao, His Highness A Bao is accompanying His Majesty."
Leng Xiao blinked in surprise but didn't ask further.
She had originally wanted to introduce Lin Ze to A Bao.
Mendi then stepped past Leng Xiao—and unexpectedly sat next to Lin Ze.
Lin Ze raised an eyebrow at this.
Before he could speak, Mendi said quietly:
> "Lin Ze, you shouldn't have come."
The words immediately made Lin Ze frown—and Yue Ye and Leng Xiao's expressions also changed slightly.
> "What do you mean by that?" Lin Ze asked calmly.
Mendi responded:
> "Originally, everything would've gone smoothly without any trouble. But your presence... will alter the outcome. If you leave now, you can avoid unnecessary disaster."
Lin Ze chuckled.
> "Mendi, are you threatening me?"
Mendi shook his head.
> "No. I just want to avoid pointless conflict."
> "Well, I appreciate the warning," Lin Ze said, "but now you've got me curious—what kind of conflict are we talking about?"
Mendi sighed softly:
> "I've already said what I needed to."
With that, Mendi said no more.
