Chapter 10 - 10. Scabbers! What's wrong with you Scabbers?

"Fear Descends!" Ivan waved his wand and pointed it at Scabbers' head.

"Squeak! Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak!"

As soon as the spell took effect, the gray-black rat immediately went crazy. Its tightly closed eyes widened in an instant, and it let out an ear-piercing scream.

Then, with a forceful push of its paws on the table, the entire rat rolled off the table as if flying, knocking over many cups and decorations along the way, and scurrying around the dormitory.

Seeing that the effect was so good, Ivan was finally relieved.

He hadn't expected that the principle of the Fear Charm and the Patronus Charm were exactly the opposite. The latter required the caster to recall beautiful and happy things, while the former required the caster to imagine a terrifying thing or experience and stuff it into the mind of the target.

It was like a reverse Legilimency, but with a terrifying twist.

When casting the spell on Scabbers, Ivan had envisioned a scene of Scabbers being chased by a black dog.

Perhaps because Scabbers was dreaming before the spell was cast, the power of the Fear Charm combined with the dream, and the effect of this dark magic was much stronger than Ivan had imagined.

While Ivan was happy that he had successfully cast the Fear Charm, Ron and Harry, who had heard the noise in the common room, also barged in at this moment.

Looking at the mess in the dormitory, Harry almost thought he had come to the wrong place. He was about to ask a question when Ron saw the gray-black rat scurrying around the dormitory.

"Oh, no! Scabbers, Scabbers! What's wrong? Scabbers!" Ron shouted in despair, rushed into the dormitory in a few quick steps, and pounced on Neville's bed, trying to catch the gray-black rat that had just run past.

But at this time, Scabbers was frightened by Ivan's magic and regarded Ron as the black dog in his dream. With a "swoosh," he burrowed under the bed from the gap in the edge of the bed, making Ron search for a while.

"Ivan, what happened here?" Harry asked, looking at Ivan, who was standing in front of the table.

"I'm just practicing a spell here." Ivan shrugged, then said a little guiltily. "As you can see, there may have been a little accident."

Harry looked at Ron, who was under the table, covered in dust and ash from the rat, and had gained nothing. He felt that this accident was not small at all, and finally sighed helplessly.

"Then we may have to catch a rat all night."

Fortunately, the final situation was not as bad as Harry had thought.

After the three of them tossed around for a while, Ivan, remembering that he was a wizard, seized an opportunity to use the Levitation Charm to levitate Scabbers, who was planning to hide under a book, along with the book, and the farce was finally calmed down.

In the next few days, Ron sulked for several days. Ivan, feeling guilty, naturally had to apologize and bought some Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans for Scabbers as spare food. With Harry's persuasion, Ron stopped dwelling on Scabbers' matter.

It is worth mentioning that Hermione, after hearing about this, directly mocked Ron for valuing a rat more than a friend, and the two even had a fight, resulting in Ron almost being driven crazy.

Ron became more and more concerned about Scabbers, even bringing him to class usually, always feeling that someone wanted to harm his rat.

Ivan continued his life of going from the classroom to the library to the dormitory, reading through some basic books, barely gathering enough opportunities to use the Academic Master Experience Card again. With the accumulation of these days, the proficiency of the spells Ivan knew had improved a lot.

This led to the professor's grades being a level higher than before in class!

Except for Professor Binns, who taught History of Magic and always gave a general evaluation, Ivan had received Outstanding marks in other classes.

Especially in Charms and Transfiguration classes, because Ivan's Transfiguration Charm and Levitation Charm had successfully broken through to the second level.

Once, he transformed a piece of wood even faster than Hermione, which stunned both Harry and Ron.

However, it was not so easy to upgrade again, because every time the level of a spell was raised by one level, the proficiency required for the next upgrade would be doubled.

In addition to studying, Ivan was also looking for the location of the Room of Requirement, as a place to test the power of spells in the future.

It was always inconvenient in the Gryffindor common room.

Unfortunately, after reading the original book so many years ago, Ivan had long forgotten, only remembering that it was opposite a tapestry, so he hadn't found it for several days in a row.

It wasn't until Friday of the second week that Harry received Hagrid's invitation letter that Ivan's regular life was broken.

Of course, good news comes with bad news.

The bad news was that this Friday they had to take two Potions classes with Slytherin.

"I wish we could skip this morning. Potions Professor Snape is the head of Slytherin. George told me to be careful."

In the corridor, Ron and Ivan were talking about the inside information they had heard from their two older brothers, while not forgetting to feed Scabbers, who was on his right hand.

"It can't be that bad, can it? Professor McGonagall is also the head of house, and I haven't seen her show any favoritism." Hermione couldn't help but retort.

"It's not just me who thinks so. Many older Gryffindors say so!" Ron was very dismissive of Hermione's statement, and turned to Harry and Ivan.

"You think so too, right? Professor Snape is always so gloomy. There are even rumors in the school that Professor Snape used to be a dark wizard."

When talking about the rumors, Ron obviously lowered his voice, lest others hear him.

"Impossible, Professor Dumbledore wouldn't let a dark wizard come to the school." Harry shook his head.

Although at the opening banquet, Harry felt that Potions Professor Snape seemed to dislike him a bit, but in the past few days at school, the professors who taught the various subjects were all pretty good.

Snape couldn't be that bad.

Hermione also nodded repeatedly, and Ron had no choice but to turn to Ivan.

Ivan was holding a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean and teasing Scabbers. Hearing the conversation, he glanced at Harry.

"I don't know if Professor Snape is targeting Gryffindor, but he is definitely targeting us."

Speaking of this, Ivan was also a little depressed. It was estimated that there was no possibility for him to get an Outstanding grade in Snape's class.

After all, love me, love my dog, and hate me, hate my dog. Even if Snape gave him a bad review after class, Ivan wouldn't be surprised.

Harry was a little confused by Ivan's look, and really didn't understand what Ivan meant.

"Are you saying Professor Snape hates Harry?" Hermione frowned, guessing his thoughts from Ivan's previous look at Harry.

Ivan praised Hermione's quick wit in his heart, but he certainly couldn't tell the truth, so he shook his head. "I'm just suspicious. Don't you think Professor Snape's eyes are a little strange every time he looks at Harry?"
