The Velvet Castle was no longer a castle. It was a riot arena.
Pillows rained like meteors. Fireballs burned banners to ash. Daggers clinked against enchanted teacups hurled as improvised grenades. The Wife Congress Riot had officially entered its voting phase.
And by "voting," I mean attempted assassination by projectile democracy.
"Proposal: Rei marries ME immediately!" Seraphina shouted, hurling a holy ballot box that exploded in blinding light.
"Objection!" Drakana roared, spitting dragonfire across the chamber. "Ballot tampered by angels!"
"Rei belongs to eternity!" the Vampire Bride shrieked, flinging daggers shaped like roses. "I cast one million votes, signed in blood!"
"Your blood doesn't count!" Lilia snarled, holding up a scroll of magically notarized documents. "Only legal votes matter! And I registered Rei's signature while he was unconscious!"
Rosette the maid leapt across the room, striking with pillow-daggers. "Motion to silence the competition… permanently."
