The sun rose marking a brand new day, a brand new beginning as Jason stared into the horizon as the ship continued toward the Kalos Region.
Jason: "Finally, my journey to becoming the Pokemon World Champion starts today, this is the moment where I become a man. When the masses look back, they'll remember the name 'Jason…"
Mrs.Enid: "I'm so proud of you Nathan!"
Jason's monologue was interrupted by Nathan's parents on the phone, completely ruining his vibe.
Nathan: "Thanks guys, I'm just really happy you're so mature about this whole thing."
Mr.Enid: "Well you were always going to leave the ness, this process makes it much easier."
Nathan: "Thanks dad, I'll be sure to send half of whatever money I make to you guys."
Mr.Enid: "Oh don't worry about it, just focus on doing the best job possible, have fun, and keep your friend Jason on a leash."
Nathan: "You don't have to tell me twice."
Jason: "You know I'm right here?"
Mrs.Enid: "Anyway, me and your father have to get going, make sure to call us after your first day alright."
Nathan: "Sounds good, I love you guys, bye," Nathan hangs up his phone. "Sorry, I just wanted to let my parents know that I'm good."
Jason: "It's fine, it's what loving parents do."
Nathan: "I'm assuming you haven't called your mom yet?"
Jason pulls out his phone to see 35 missed calls from his mom, before he mutes her number and deletes all of her voicemails.
Jason: "No…I'm not talking with her until I accomplish my goal."
Nathan just looked at Jason concerned but out of respect, didn't say anything.
Captain Charles: "Alright boys, we're approaching Coumarine city, Welcome to the Kalos region you two."
Jason and Nathan eyes beamed with excitement as the city view became closer and closer, along with Wingulls and Taillow's flying above them with both boys staring in awe as to their shock a Wailord appearing next to them as massive waves pushed the ship as Wailord rose to the surface as Jason and Nathan screamed.
When they arrived at the city pier, both Jason and Nathan were sea sick and exhausted from the Wailord encounter.
Captain Charles: "Sorry for that boys, but you're welcome for a pretty smooth journey until now."
Jason: "What…ever."
???: "Looks like you two boys certainly had an eventful trip here."
Both Jason and Nathan got up to find a tall middle-aged woman, Long dark blue-hair, light brown eyes, and a long white lab coat, without a doubt, this was Professor Hazel.
Jason: "She's so beautiful."
Nathan: "That's our professor so keep it in your pants, please!"
Professor Hazel: "Excuse me?"
Nathan: "Nothing, It's an honor to meet you Ma'am, I'm Nathan Enid and this idiot is my best friend, Jason Suketami."
Jason: "Nice to meet you boss, you're looking at the future world champion!"
Professor Hazel: "You two are certainly enthusiastic, I have a strong feeling we're going to get along excellently. But first, hop on the SUV because we're going to Lumiose city."
Jason: "Yeah! The start of Glory!"
Nathan: "And Adventure!"
With that, Jason and Nathan happily followed Professor Hazel to her SUV as they drove out of Coumarine city. Little did they know a certain figure they knew good and well had watched them leave.
Pierre: "Alright, now that those incompetent fools are gone, I think I should start building a team fit for a king!"
After Driving through the bumpy dirt roads of Route 13, The group finally arrive at Lumiose city, Jason and Nathan stare in awe as their eyes dart from left to right, admiring the architecture and large buildings as if they were little kids again. Eventually they arrived toward her lab as they got out of the SUV.
Professor Hazel: "Make yourselves at home, Mi casa es su casa."
Jason turned to the kitchen as he noticed the freshly done breakfast on the table.
Jason: "Is that?"
Professor Hazel: "Yeah I figured you boys haven't eaten anything through your ship ride, so I prepared breakfast, enjoy you two."
Immediately Jason dashed toward the table and started eating the omelet as Nathan sighed and joined him.
Jason: "Best…Job…Ever."
Jason and Nathan ate breakfast within 7 minutes.
Professor Hazel: "Alright, now that we've gotten that out of the way. It's time to get the two of you started."
Nathan: "Wait, do you mean?"
Professor Hazel: "That's right, pick your first starter pokemon."
Professor Hazel then pulled a cart containing three pokeballs and inside each of them contained the starter pokemon: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. While Jason and Nathan stared in awe, they knew exactly who they were going to choose.
Nathan: "I'm going to choose Fennekin."
Nathan then grabbed the middle Pokeball and immediately Fennekin came out of his Pokeball and started rubbing his cheek against Nathan's.
Professor Hazel: "Awww, you two look so adorable together."
Jason: "Congrats on your new partner Nathan, now it's my turn…I choose Froakie."
Jason then grabbed the Pokeball on the right as Froakie came out of it, Out of excitement Jason grabbed him and lifted him up.
Jason: "What's up partner?"
Froakie then blasted Water Gun right towards Jason's face out of annoyance.
Professor Hazel: "Right, I forgot to mention that Froakie has a reputation of being difficult with trainers."
Jason: "Thanks for the heads up."
Froakie then slipped out of Jason's hands and landed Pound on his face.
Jason: "Oh You little!"
Froakie then laughed as he ran, Jason's blood boiled as he began chasing Froakie as Nathan, Fennekin, and Professor Hazel observed Jason chasing Froakie back and forth with Froakie firing Water Gun and his back bubbles as if they were watching a cartoon episode.
Nathan: "As entertaining as this is, what's our first job professor?"
Fennekin yelped in agreement.
Professor Hazel: "Oh yes, since it's your first day, I want the two of you to head toward Route 5 and record every single Pokemon you find, and if you can get them all, you'll earn 5000 Pokedollars."
Nathan: "Sounds good to me Ma'am, you can count on us."
Jason: "FINALLY, HA HA HA HA!"
Jason laughed as he caught Froakie in a vase as Nathan and Fennekin stared genuinely concerned.
After receiving their Pokedex's and Rotom Phones, the two friends headed toward Route 5 as Nathan walked smiling with Fennekin on his shoulder while Jason dragged Froakie who was tied up in string as he refused to get back into his Pokeball, and Jason didn't want Froakie escaping his grasp again.
Nathan: "Looks like you and Froakie are getting along real nice huh?"
Jason: "Shut up, Nate!"
The two then stopped as they noticed a Plusle and Minun in front of them. Nathan immediately scanned them on the Pokedex and took photos of the both of them.
Nathan: "Hey Jason, you think you could deal with those two while I continue searching this route?"
Jason: "Leave me and my water type starter against two electric types with a clear disadvantage, Sure why the hell not!"
Nathan: "Thanks man."
Nathan walks off.
Jason: "Screw you!"
Jason then took a breath as he cut the string he had Froakie tied up in as Froakie jumped on his face ready to battle, while Plusle and Minun just danced completely ignoring the both of them.
Jason: "Alright Froakie, When they cheer for each other their sparks get stronger so be careful."
Froakie just croaked annoyed by Jason.
Jason: "Alright, use Water Gun."
Froakie used Water gun, but on Jason, He then jumped to the side as Plusle and Minun charged with Spark directly at Jason as the conducted water made the electricity even more painful as he fell back with Plusle and Minun fleeing and Froakie laughed at Jason.
Jason: "No wonder all of your trainers left you, because you're nothing but a little, disobedient pest, When I haven't even done anything to you and yet you're an irritating shit stain!"
Froakie got even more mad as he hit Jason with Pound as he ran off into the route.
Jason: "GET BACK HERE!"
But Froakie was long gone.
Meanwhile Nathan and Fennekin have been recording Data on Abra, Doduo, Gulpin, Bunnelby, Skiddo, Pancham, and Furfrou.
Nathan: "Looks like I'm missing 1 more, Guess we're on a roll huh Fennekin?"
Fennekin yelped in agreement, both of them noticed Jason walk toward them as he had a downcast, annoyed look on his face while his fists were clenched.
Nathan: "Are you good?"
Jason: "No I'm not, cause Froakie ran off."
Nathan: "Really, what happened?"
Jason: "Look I may have blown up at him, but can you blame me!?"
Nathan: "All things considered, no. But still he's your partner and you need to be on the same level you know?"
Jason: "Kind of hard when he's being a rebellious teenager!"
Nathan: "Doesn't that sound like a certain individual you know the best?"
Jason thought for a moment before realizing…
Jason: "Good Arceus, I guess I gave off a pretty bad impression. how do I connect with him?"
Nathan: "Well first, you need to be sincere, apologize and talk to him not as a trainer but as a friend. But most importantly, be Genuine!"
Jason: "Okay, got it. I'm going to go find him, Thanks Nathan."
Nathan: "No problem, if you find the Final Pokemon in this route let me know."
Jason then ran off in order to find where Froakie ran off to, finding his bubbles stuck on tree's giving him an idea of Froakie's trail. Thoughts ran through Jason's mind as he thought about how he would apologize to Froakie Hey Froakie, i've been a little harsh so I wanted to apologize…no that's pathetic, come on Jason, think! He then stopped as he noticed Froakie provoking a group of 5 Scraggy's.
Jason: "What is he doing?"
The Scraggy all got mad as Froakie jumped back prepared to fight them all.
Jason: "Either that Froakie is stupid, or has some massive Pokeballs."
The first Scraggy charged with a Low Kick, but Froakie used leer to lower his defense before landing a Pound, the other four Scraggy charged with Low kick, but Froakie dodged them all while landing Leer to lower their defenses while landing Pound and Water gun on each of them. Jason starred, impressed by how skilled Froakie is.
Jason: "Wow, He's definitely not an ordinary Froakie."
But then the Scraggy all smirked as they all landed Payback on Froakie and since Froakie landed attacks on all of them, the attack damage was doubled. Froakie collapsed from the combined pain as all 5 of the scraggy's jumped back before they charged with a headbutt. Before they could hit Froakie, Jason jumps in grabbing Froakie and taking all 5 headbutts. While he did wince in pain, Jason ran while carrying Froakie in his arms as the Scraggy chased after him.
Jason: "Sorry to spoil your fun, but I gotta get you out of here."
Froakie just watched the determined face on Jason as he continued to sprint onward with his legs moving rapidly without stopping. However one of the Scraggy's caught up and landed a Headbutt on Jason's back. The shock of the pain caused Jason to get on a knee as he gently put Froakie down as the rest of the Scraggy's caught up, and when one of them goes to land a Low Kick on Froakie, Jason punches one back to the shock of Froakie as the Scraggy's new target was Jason.
Jason: "Listen Froakie, Nathan's nearby this route, Find him and get him over here, I'll buy you as much time as possible."
Froakie was hesitant but another one of the Scraggy's charged with Headbutt but Jason countered with a knee.
Jason: "DO WHAT I SAY FOR ONCE, LET ME PROTECT YOU AND GO!"
Froakie then ran away to find Nathan, scarred and worried. Jason then smiled as all of the Scraggy began attacking him with Low kicks and Payback's but Jason just stood and took all of their blows. Meanwhile Nathan's patience snapped as he had encounters with the exact same Pokemon he's already recorded.
Nathan: "UHHHHHHHHHHH, Why is this harder than it has to be!?"
Nathan and Fennekin then noticed Froakie running toward them with a look of urgency on him, Froakie then croaked at Fennekin as Fennekin gained a scarred expression as he yelped at Nathan.
Nathan: "Wait…Jason's in danger!? Froakie, show me where he's at!"
Without hesitation, Froakie dashed toward Jason's location with Nathan and Fennekin running after him. Froakie then saw Jason knocked out with the Scraggy's surrounding him, out of urgency Froakie ran faster and faster and tackled the group learning Quick Attack.
Nathan: "JASON!"
Nathan and Fennekin caught up as Fennekin joined Froakie's side while Nathan checked Jason's condition.
Nathan: "He's alive, but beat up badly."
Nathan then gulped as the unrelenting Scraggy's showed up again as the realization that he's going to have to battle all 5 scraggy's."
Nathan: "Alright…I guess this is going to be my first Pokemon Battle."
Fennekin noticed Nathan shaking rapidly as his heart raced, but Fennekin Barked at him, causing Nathan to snap out of it as Both Fennekin and Froakie stared at him with determination in their eyes, as Nathan locked it.
Nathan: Fennekin, use Ember. Froakie, use Water Gun."
Both Froakie and Fennekin jumped in the air to use their attacks hitting the Craggy horde. One of them went to use Low kick but Nathan commanded Froakie to use its back bubbles to block the attack, reducing the damage. Froakie then used Quick Attack on two Scraggy's knocking them out. One of them went to land another Payback, But Fennekin landed a Scratch on him then an Ember knocking the 3rd Scraggy out. Froakie and Fennekin then landed 1 final Ember and Water Gun on the final two, knocking them out. Immediately, Nathan recorded the Scraggy on his Pokedex, as his eyes widened as he saw that he's recorded every pokemon on Route 5.
Nathan: "Alright, first job successfully done! I couldn't have done it without you two."
Fennekin barked in happiness as he jumped up as Fennekin rubbed his ears against Nathan's cheeks warming them up, until they started burning him as Nathan yelped in pain.
Nathan: "Okay, let's get Jason some medical help, Froakie?"
Both Nathan and Fennekin turned to see Froakie resting next to Jason as all of his energy was drained from fighting all those Scraggy's.
Nathan: "Welp, no one said this was going to be easy."
Nathan groaned as he lifted Jason's heavy body up and dragged Jason and Froakie back to Lumiose City with Fennekin following the three of them, finding humor in the situation.
Jason's eyes weakly opened as an unbearable headache hit him.
Professor Hazel: "Oh thank Arceus, you're alright!"
Jason: "What happened?"
Nathan: "Well you got knocked out from tanking so many hits from the Scraggy's, don't worry thanks to Froakie and Fennekin I was able to fight them off, I guess I'm more skilled at battling than I first thought huh?"
While Nathan stood in pride, a sudden realization hit Jason.
Jason: "Where's Froakie!?"
Professor Hazel: "He's at the Pokemon Center getting treated…"
Jason dashed past them both and left the Laboratory.
Jason: "I'M COMING FROAKIE!"
Nathan: "Wait, you're not fully healed yet dude!"
Professor Hazel: "Has your friend always known for putting other's safety over his own?"
Nathan: "Not really…I guess I must've rubbed off on him."
Nathan then ran to catch up to Jason.
Jason barged through the Pokemon center walls after running across the city to find it. His eyes darted across the area until he found Froakie who had finished being tended to by Nurse Joy.
Jason: "Froakie!"
Froakie dashed toward Jason as they hugged each other with Jason crying uncontrollably as Froakie just smiled and accepted his warm embrace.
Jason: "Thank you so much for healing Froakie, how much will it cost me?"
Nurse Joy: "Oh it's actually not going to cost you a thing."
Jason: "Say what?"
Nurse Joy: "At pokemon centers, we heal and tend to Pokemon free of charge."
Jason stared at her for a solid 5 seconds before getting on the floor and uncomfortably hugging her thigh.
Jason: "YOU ARE AN ANGEL SENT FROM THE HEAVENS!"
Seeing the uncomfortable expression on Nurse Joy's face, Froakie used Pound on Jason, knocking him back.
Jason: "For once I deserve that…Actually Froakie, let's go outside, I need to talk to you."
While Froakie had a confused look on his face, he followed Jason as they went outside, Jason and Froakie stared at each other as night fell upon Lumiose City.
Jason: "Look Froakie I ... .I uhhhhh…I…Im Sorry."
Froakie: "Fro?"
Jason: "I'm sorry for being so hostile when we first met and calling you a shit stain. I never really bonded with Pokemon in the city I was raised in, so this is all completely new to me, But when I saw you battling all those wild Scraggy's, I realized 'no wonder he's difficult with trainers' because you want a trainer that can bring out your true potential right?"
Froakie shook his head up and down, answering Jason's question.
Jason: "Figured as much, Look you clearly enjoy battling and I want to become the Pokemon World Champion, so…I would be honored if you'd be the 1st member of the Future world champions team."
Froakie stared at Jason as sweat rolled down Jason's head anticipating Froakie's answer, but then Froakie grabbed his pokeball from Jason and then passed it toward him.
Jason: "I'll take that as a yes."
Froakie croaked happily.
Jason: "Welcome to the team, Froakie."
Both Jason and Froakie laughed as Nathan, Fennekin, and Professor Hazel watched with a sincere smile on their faces. Jason then noticed that Froakie was holding a mysterious blue stone, Froakie passed it onto Jason to get a closer look.
Jason: "What is this thing?"
