After all the elders had checked it, Derrick volunteered to be the first to try it.
He directly sat cross-legged on the ground, imitating the man in the scene Mr. Fool showed him. He opened several lunchboxes one by one, then took out a bottle of something called rum. After uncorking it, he poured the golden liquid into a glass.
A slightly pungent alcoholic smell instantly filled the entire room. He froze for a moment, looking at Chief Colin with a bit of helplessness.
Chief Colin felt it for a moment, detecting no negative effects from the smell. He then looked at Elder Lovia, who was most skilled in flesh and blood magic.
Lovia gently shook her head, then, as if pondering her words, she spoke with a slightly broken and fluctuating voice:
"No problem, but don't drink too much. This is somewhat like the wine mentioned in records; drinking too much will make you 'drunk'."
After receiving confirmation from Chief Colin and Elder Lovia, Derrick finally relaxed completely. He hadn't expected this thing called rum to have such a strange taste, completely different from the normal food he had imagined.
He picked up the glass containing the golden liquid and took a big gulp.
"Cough, cough!" The stimulating taste and sensation in his mouth made him unable to stop coughing. Most of the liquid was swallowed, while a small part was coughed out.
His expression was slightly contorted, the stimulating sensation in his mouth rushing straight to his brain. Under everyone's worried gaze, he said in a hoarse voice:
"The taste is so strange, a bit stimulating to the throat and brain... After a while, there's a strange sweet feeling in my mouth again."
Derrick struggled with his words; in his daily vocabulary, there was no term or expression for "aftertaste."
Once the taste in his mouth subsided, he tried other foods.
He could only determine which animals some of the more well-preserved ingredients came from, based on his knowledge from general education textbooks.
Although the man in the explanatory video had introduced them, many of the words he heard were pieced together, and Leyton and Klein had prepared many types of dishes, so he only remembered a small portion of them.
Is this fish? This should be from a bird... I have no idea what animals the rest of this meat comes from, and are those green and yellow things vegetables?
He first tried a bite of grilled fish. Although the dishes were mostly cold due to the long delay, the rich and varied flavors still surprised him. It was a delicious taste he had never experienced.
Under the gaze of everyone from City of Silver, he quickly finished all the opened food, still looking at the remaining dishes with some reluctance.
No, I can't eat them all by myself.
He admonished himself silently, then stood up from the ground, savoring the taste of the dishes he had just eaten. He couldn't help but lick the corner of his mouth and say:
"Chief, these foods are all fine, and they are very... um... delicious."
Derrick racked his brain but could only come up with the adjective "delicious."
Colin nodded gently, then his gaze fell on the remaining dishes.
"I'll try them too."
Perhaps out of curiosity, or perhaps out of caution, Lovia suggested she try them again.
The others had no objections. Lovia then imitated Derrick's previous actions and casually opened a few lunchboxes.
Like Derrick, she first paused, then quickened her swallowing.
On the Golden Dream, Leyton was writing a letter to Mr. Pulak Eggers of the Numinous Episcopate.
When Mr. Pulak Eggers left Backlund, he had expressed a desire to lead some members to leave the Numinous Episcopate and focus on developing the economy of the Southern Continent, to break free from the state of being colonized.
A Sequence 3 Ferryman, if I can get his help, then establishing a new belief system in the Southern Continent will become much smoother.
Leyton, deep in thought, suddenly saw many grayish-white mists emerge around him. Within these mists, crimson light rose, condensing into the image of The Sun Derrick praying:
"Respected Mr. Fool, please help me convey to Mr. Tower that I agree to his trade. Besides the food exchanged for the Druid formula, if we still have needs, can we exchange for them with Beyonder ingredients and other items?"
Heh... A stable source of materials has been secured... Leyton sighed inwardly.
Immediately, he heard The Sun Derrick begin to describe the Druid's potion formula:
"Main ingredients: The heart of a Silver-White Battle Bear, a complete characteristic of a Spirit of the Lake;
Supplementary ingredients: 20 ml of Golden Sonia Spring Water, 10 ml of Crown Jellyfish venom, one Golden Crown Sunflower, a pair of Silver-White Battle Bear eyes;
Ritual: Master the living habits and physical structures of multiple common animals and three Beyonder creatures."
Leyton wrote down the entire Druid formula, then, through prayer, asked The Fool to convey his agreement to the food trade with City of Silver.
He then summoned his Book Messenger, and after it finished praising the God of Knowledge, he wrote down the Druid's potion formula and threw it into the Spirit World.
After organizing his thoughts slightly, he picked up his fountain pen again and continued writing the letter to Mr. Pulak Eggers:
Dear Mr. Pulak, I apologize for not replying sooner. Many things have happened in Backlund recently, which I believe you, even in the Southern Continent, must have heard about.
During the recent great smog incident, I met Mr. Azik, whom you mentioned in your last letter. His condition doesn't seem too good; he has forgotten many past memories, but he is gradually recovering them.
I have also recently left Backlund and am currently drifting at sea. Perhaps in some time, I will head to the Southern Continent.
I wonder how your plan for developing the Southern Continent's economy is progressing. If you are not averse to the spread and popularization of knowledge, I believe we will have much in common.
I wonder how you view the issue of those Southern Continent colonizers.
Your friend, Al Tines.
Folding the letter, Leyton simply arranged a ritual to summon Mr. Pulak Eggers' Messenger.
The Messenger, which resembled a wriggling water plant with limbs, quickly appeared. Its tentacle-like feelers rapidly intertwined and distorted, forming the image of a long-haired woman holding a fluffy long dress.
After she curtsied to Leyton with her skirt slightly lifted, a fissure tore open in her chest and abdomen, and a pale, corpse-like arm extended out, taking the letter from Leyton's hand.
Miss Messenger once again transformed into wriggling water plants, and her figure quickly vanished into the Spirit World.
Watching Miss Messenger depart, Leyton's gaze became distant for a moment, then returned to normal, and he murmured:
"I wonder if Mr. Pulak Eggers has any thoughts of unifying the Southern Continent. Probably not... Such a matter of establishing a nation should be left to the Black Emperor..."
In the Raging Sea, on the White Agate.
Klein, in his Gehrman Sparrow persona, calmly glanced at the chattering Danitz in front of him. His gaze swept around the room, finally landing on his leather suitcase, then he nodded his chin in that direction:
"Wash the dirty clothes inside."
Danitz's expression, in the middle of a lengthy monologue, instantly froze... Damn it! It's bad enough that I'm irritated by a poker face and a rabbit every day, and now you want me to wash your clothes!
He felt his sanity was about to be swallowed by the surging anger. He wished he could set the entire ship on fire right now.
He stared at Gehrman's cold, expressionless face, took a breath, opened his mouth, and took another breath.
Finally, reason triumphed over the anger in his heart. His flushed face relaxed, and his lips twitched, but he couldn't manage a smile:
"All of them?"
"Only the dirty ones. Just brush the coats."
Klein almost burst out laughing at Danitz's expression management. He maintained his persona and replied coldly.
Then he turned to look at the desk nearby. Bugs Bunny was holding a pitch-black quill pen and constantly writing and drawing on a light yellow piece of paper. He had no idea where this rabbit pulled out the paper and pen from.
Taking a deep breath, and having managed his own expression, he asked:
"Do your clothes need to be washed?"
Bugs Bunny stopped writing when he heard this. He turned to glance at Danitz, then looked at his own high-end custom suit, and hesitated, shaking his head:
"No, I brought cleaning scrolls. These are specially custom-made clothes; what if he ruins them with his rough washing?"
Danitz's expression, which he had just managed, froze again, twisting for a moment.
Klein's lips twitched, and he quickly suppressed his smile. He looked at Danitz with some sympathy. If Bugs Bunny had consumed the Hunter potion, a Provoker at this stage could easily digest the potion with just Danitz.
Calm down, don't lose control, calm down, don't lose control... Danitz kept repeating these two phrases in his mind, lowering his head, avoiding looking at Bugs Bunny, otherwise he would have been unable to resist burning this rabbit to death.
He gnashed his teeth and walked to Gehrman Sparrow's suitcase, opened it, and took out the clothes that needed cleaning.
He had just started busy in the washroom when he heard the doorbell ring loudly.
Klein opened the door and found it was Donna and Denton, the siblings. He stepped aside to let the two little ones into the room.
Then they saw Bugs Bunny, dressed in a suit and top hat, writing with a black quill pen, and Danitz washing clothes in the washroom.
"What a beautiful rabbit!" Donna exclaimed in surprise, looking at Bugs Bunny.
"Where's the servant?" Denton subconsciously asked, looking at Danitz, then his gaze was also drawn to Bugs Bunny on the desk, no longer paying attention to Danitz who was washing clothes.
"It's a handsome rabbit!" Bugs Bunny stood on the desk, hands on hips, correcting him.
"It... It... It can talk!"
"How amazing!"
Donna and Denton's eyes widened, looking curious yet afraid to approach.
Klein saw that Bugs Bunny didn't show any disgusted expression, so he turned to the siblings and smiled:
"You can go talk to it, but you can't just touch it casually. You have to ask for its permission. That's polite!"
"Really?"
"Can we talk to you, Mr. Handsome Rabbit?"
Donna's eyes widened, and she looked at Bugs Bunny cautiously, asking.
Denton also nodded, promising:
"Mhm, mhm, we won't... we won't just touch it randomly."
Bugs Bunny tilted his head, then stood up on the desk. He skillfully took off his hat and bowed, then rubbed his paw against the brim of the hat, and mist quickly emerged in the room.
These white mists rapidly gathered together, forming a large rabbit image.
"You two play with it. I still have to write letters."
