Leyton went out and gathered all the materials needed for the Gravedigger potion. Fortunately, only common materials were missing, making them easy to acquire.
Following Sia's potion formula, Leyton quickly concocted a bottle of thick, light green liquid.
Leyton looked at the potion in his hand and sighed, "This potion is really looking more and more like poison!"
He called over the crow, who was currently acting as a tool-bird beside Bugs Bunny, and handed it the potion, asking again, "This is the Sequence 8 Gravedigger potion. Are you sure you've digested your Sequence 9 potion?"
"Digested, it was digested the moment I drank it," the crow flapped its wings, its eyes fixed on the potion in Leyton's hand.
Leyton nodded, then simulated the magical ability of the Water Domain, controlling the potion to pour into the crow's mouth.
With the previous experience, this crow was no longer afraid. It directly tilted its neck back, catching every drop of the potion.
Afterward, the crow seemed to lose itself, standing still. Aside from the feathers on its tail lengthening, there were no other changes, as if it hadn't been affected by the potion at all.
However, under the gaze of Leyton's Eyes of Mystery Prying, he clearly saw the crow's body becoming stronger.
After about three to five minutes, the crow's eyes returned to normal, but the feathers on its tail had not completely reverted to their previous length; they were about one-third longer than before.
"Boss, I think I saw a really big bird. No matter how much I looked up, I could only see its feathers," the crow said, somewhat confused.
"Hmm? Anything else?" Leyton was a little puzzled; this shouldn't be a normal advancement phenomenon.
The crow shook its head, "Nothing else."
Leyton took off the glasses on his nose and carefully used his Eyes of Mystery Prying to examine the crow in front of him. He couldn't see any abnormalities; the only change was that the feathers on its tail had grown a bit longer.
Leyton put his glasses back on and continued to ask, "Are there any signs of your Gravedigger potion being digested?"
"No, not at all," the crow shook its head.
"Alright, go familiarize yourself with your Beyonder abilities first."
Leyton did not continue to ask further questions.
After the crow left, Leyton summoned his messenger and sent a blank piece of paper to Sia. He also tore a blank piece of paper from a book for himself.
After a short wait, a line of text appeared on the blank paper in front of Leyton:
"What's up? Have you already given your crow the Gravedigger potion?"
Leyton quickly picked up a pen and wrote down his crow's problem on the paper:
"It has already consumed the Gravedigger potion, but this time, it hasn't digested at all. Also, during its advancement, it saw a giant bird, but it didn't see the bird's full appearance, and after the advancement, the feathers on its tail grew a section longer."
In a manor in the Southern Continent, Sia frowned as she read the content on the paper. After a while, she wrote:
"I understand. I will help you investigate this issue and let you know once I have an answer."
"Didn't you say before that ordinary people could also become Spirit World Sorcerers? Is there a mature system now? If so, I can help you promote it!"
Leyton didn't expect Sia to immediately bring up the topic of Spirit World Sorcerers, so he had to write, "I'll go ask and let you know once I find out!"
Sia's reply was quick: "Alright, let's talk next time. Sis is going out."
"Oh, and by the way, practice your handwriting when you have time; it's too ugly to look at."
Leyton silently looked at his handwriting on the blank paper, then compared it to Sia's writing. He then tossed the blank paper on the table into the air, sending it into the Spirit World.
"Indeed, I should practice my handwriting," Leyton murmured.
Thinking of Sia's earlier question, Leyton suddenly wanted to try if Mr. Hughes's animal avatar existed in Backlund.
Deciding to act on the thought, Leyton immediately recited Mr. Hughes's honorific name: "The Dependents of knowledge and wisdom, the ancient guardian, the eye that perceives the world, the sage seated in the sky, the guardian of rationality and knowledge."
After reciting this honorific name, nothing happened around him. Leyton waited for a while longer in the study.
A blue-gray short-tailed cat suddenly jumped in through the window. Leyton and the cat stared at each other for a while.
"Are you Mr. Hughes's avatar in Backlund?" Leyton's Eyes of Mystery Prying didn't detect anything special, so he tentatively asked.
"You called me just to confirm this?" The short-tailed cat said in a very impatient tone.
"Your temper is quite different from that crow," Leyton said with some curiosity, ignoring the other party's tone.
The short-tailed cat, squatting on the ground, gave a disdainful look: "I'm not an angel of the Error pathway; I can't integrate all my avatars. I only leave such an avatar in some important places."
"They usually act according to their own will. Only when there are important matters do I put a part of my consciousness into the avatar to synchronize information, but the avatar's own personality and habits do not change because of this."
"Like now?" Leyton asked curiously.
"Yes, this cat's current state is a part of me."
"What do you want from me?"
Leyton felt the short-tailed cat's tone growing more impatient, so he didn't continue the topic and instead said, "Can ordinary people join the Spirit World Sorcerer system now?"
The short-tailed cat changed its squatting posture and licked its paw: "Yes, but the upper limit is still very low, roughly equivalent to the level between Sequence 9 and Sequence 8. They can use the power of the Spirit World for simple divination and some trick-level magical abilities."
"And they require potions to stabilize their mental state and increase their body's adaptability to the power of the Spirit World."
Leyton was not surprised by this; a completely new system wouldn't appear so easily. This progress was already quite fast.
"In terms of potions, the Church of the Earth Mother is more skilled, aren't they? Can't we seek their help?"
When potions were mentioned, Leyton's first thought was the Pharmacist Pathway. Lilith, as the Earth Mother, should have the most say in this area.
"Who do you think was fighting in the War of the Gods back then?" The short-tailed cat's tone was exceptionally disdainful. Leyton even thought it might jump up and claw him.
Leyton fell silent. Could he say he had forgotten this part of history? Of course not, otherwise, he would be facing a history exam: "Although the two Churches have animosity, these two deities shouldn't care about such things, right?"
"Do not presumptuously speculate on the thoughts of deities!" The short-tailed cat seriously warned Leyton.
Leyton had no choice but to change his approach and spoke again, "Then can we find the Sanguine? They belong to the Pharmacist Pathway, and Sanguine Barons are also called Potion Professors. They should have a lot of research on potions."
"Not yet!" The short-tailed cat did not explicitly reject the suggestion.
"Do not use this honorific name in Backlund. This is the place of that tyrant who thinks with his limbs more than his brain, and of the Night. If my avatar left here is discovered, it could very likely lead to a War of the Gods."
After warning Leyton, the short-tailed cat turned and jumped out of the window, leaving.
Leyton originally had many more questions he wanted to ask, but the other party didn't give him any chance and simply turned and left.
"It seems the reason it appeared was entirely to tell me not to recite that honorific name in Backlund. Is there something wrong with that honorific name? It's just an angel of the God of Knowledge; it shouldn't lead to a War of the Gods!"
Leyton was somewhat puzzled, but the short-tailed cat had already left.
Leyton rose from the armchair, preparing to go out and purchase a batch of materials.
There were still several Beyonder characteristic remaining, and Leyton wanted to try to Exploit them to create special items with Beyonder abilities.
As a neighboring pathway to Savant, Leyton felt that the Mystery Pryer pathway, which represents knowledge of the mystical side, should also be able to create some special mystical items.
This was the inspiration Leyton gained from Roselle's use of the ability to "bestow tangible power upon abstract knowledge" to create blasphemy cards. Although he didn't have the abilities of the Knowledge Emperor, he could pray to the Hidden Sage.
"If combined with the ability of Mystical Reenactment, there should be unexpected gains. Unfortunately, I can't advance to Sequence 4 yet."
Leyton sighed, even more eager for Sequence 4. He had been coveting the abilities of a Mysticologist for a long time.
