Chapter 9 - Fractured Loyalties

The cold night air bit through their clothes as Jade and Kelz ran down the narrow alleyways behind the mansion. Their breaths came out in ragged gasps, hearts pounding from the fight and the fear of what would come next.

"We can't keep running," Jade whispered, clutching Kelz's arm tightly. "They'll hunt us like animals."

Kelz's jaw tightened. "We don't have a choice. Not until we figure out who inside the family we can trust."

Jade glanced over at him, the moonlight revealing the haunted shadows under his eyes. "You really want to take them all on? Your own blood?"

He looked away, voice low and bitter. "They killed my mother. They'll pay for that."

A sudden sound — footsteps — made them freeze. A figure emerged from the darkness: a woman, sharp-eyed and dressed in black leather.

"You're not safe here," she said. "I'm Mira. I'm... a friend. But even friends have enemies."

Jade and Kelz exchanged wary glances, unsure if Mira was another ally or a trap.

But as the distant sirens began to wail, they knew there was no turning back.

The game of vengeance had only just begun.
