📖 **CHAPTER FOUR — "Roses in Blood"**

### 💌 Author Note — From Aish L'Inarrestabile:

> *"Ciao, miei cuori tormentati (hello, my tormented hearts)... What's more dangerous than a mafia king falling in love? A mafia king sending black roses with blood on the stems. If he can't touch her heart yet—he'll haunt her soul."*

> — *Aish L'Inarrestabile*

### 🔄 **Recap from Chapter 3 — "The Devil in the Lecture Hall":**

Aira tried to return to her normal life.

But Yuvraj followed her into it—into her lecture hall.

Wearing a suit. A stare. And a promise: *"You're not safe anymore."*

He handed her a security card. She dropped it.

But that night, a call warned her: *Stay away from him… or die.*

And a figure smiled into her security camera before disappearing.

---

**AIRA**

The roses arrived just after sunrise.

Twenty-four of them.

Black. Velvet-soft. Wrapped in a box carved with gold.

But what made me freeze wasn't the beauty.

It was the note tied to the stems.

Blood-stained. Fresh.

> *"A gift for the girl who walks like sin and breathes like trouble."*

>

> *'They' sent you a warning. This is mine."*

>

> *—Y.M.*

I stared at the crimson-smeared paper for a full minute.

Then I threw the box across the room.

The roses scattered. Some landed at my feet like bodies.

I couldn't breathe.

Because it wasn't fear that shook me.

It was **knowing**.

Knowing he was watching.

Knowing he'd kill for me.

And that somewhere inside me…

I didn't hate the thought.

---

**YUVRAJ**

They thought they could scare her.

A phone call in the dark. A masked face. Empty threats.

Pathetic.

They forgot who she belonged to now.

And no—she hadn't accepted that yet.

But her fate already had.

I sat in the backseat of my car, eyes on her building's live feed.

She opened the roses. Read the note.

She didn't smile.

Didn't cry.

She threw them.

But she didn't throw **me**.

And that was enough.

> "She'll come to me, eventually," I said aloud.

>

> Ayaan, in the driver's seat, smirked. "You're sure?"

>

> I didn't blink. "She already has. She just doesn't know it yet."

---

**AIRA**

I tried to act normal.

Walked into campus like nothing had happened.

But something had changed.

Every shadow felt sharper. Every whisper felt loaded.

And then I saw him.

Not Yuvraj.

The man from the security footage.

Watching me from across the courtyard. Dressed in black. Scar on his neck.

I froze.

He reached into his coat.

I didn't think.

I **ran.**

Raced through the hallway. Up the stairs. Into the girls' common lounge.

Locked the door. Heart thundering.

Until a knock came.

Not hard. Not soft.

And a voice followed:

> "It's me, Aira. Open the door."

My chest locked.

It was him.

Yuvraj.

---

**YUVRAJ**

She ran.

That bastard showed his face on her campus like he didn't value life.

My men had eyes on him—but I had eyes on **her**.

She ran like she'd finally realized how real this was.

And that made me angrier than anything.

Because she shouldn't be running alone.

She should've been **in my home.**

**In my arms.**

I knocked once. "Aira."

She opened the door.

Just a crack.

Her eyes were fire and fear.

> "You brought this danger to me."

> "No," I said. "I'm the only one keeping it off you."

> "You're obsessed."

> "Correct."

> "You're crazy."

> "Still correct."

She tried to close the door.

I stopped it with my hand.

> "You can hate me, piccola. But you don't get to face this alone."

> "You're not mine."

> "Not yet."

> "Never."

> "Liar."

Her breath caught.

> "Get out."

> "You'll call me back."

I stepped away. Gave her that much.

But she didn't see the guards I left on the rooftop.

She didn't know the man who followed her?

He wouldn't live to see nightfall.

---

**AIRA**

I watched him walk away like he hadn't just shaken my whole world with six sentences.

> "Liar," he'd said.

And worst of all?

He wasn't wrong.

Because deep down, in some twisted, blood-soaked way—

Part of me wanted him to come back.

---

**That night, Aira got a text. From an unknown number.**

> "Check your garden."

She stepped outside.

There, in the middle of the lawn—

**A man's body.**

Face-down. Unmoving.

A single black rose stabbed through his back.
