Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Influence

At the same time, somewhere across town, inside a cozy little coffee shop, Emily Frost sat at a table near the window. She was trying to recruit new talents for the Tower Demolition Team Guild. Today's target was none other than Alexis Lane, one of the rare S-Rank Talents in the entire university!

Alexis wasn't just strong—she was stunningly beautiful too. Known as the new campus goddess of Kyoto University, her name had quickly become famous among all major guilds. And now, every big-name organization was sending her offers and pulling strings to recruit her.

Over the past two days, Alexis had been swamped with offers. Some promised top-tier resources, others promised fame or money. It was only after multiple attempts that Emily managed to convince her to meet for a short conversation.

But even now, as they sat face to face, Alexis remained distant. Her responses were cold, polite, and uninterested—like someone simply fulfilling a duty. Emily had expected this. She knew very well that their guild, only at Level 6, couldn't compare to the larger and richer ones.

Even if they promised decent benefits, the Tower Demolition Team Guild just didn't carry the same prestige. Besides, Alexis's background made things even harder. Her father used to be a core member of the powerful Prosperity Guild. If nothing unexpected happened, Alexis would probably follow in his footsteps and join the same guild.

In fact, Emily had received word that the Prosperity Guild had already reached out to Alexis. And not just anyone—they'd sent Logan Barrett, one of their top representatives, to invite her personally. That alone said everything.

Still, Emily didn't give up. She had prepared a list of compelling reasons to join, even rehearsed them last night, but as expected, they didn't seem to work. Alexis remained unmoved.

Unless Emily had the authority of the Guild President and could offer a top executive position, she doubted anything she said would change Alexis's mind.

Unfortunately, she didn't have that kind of authority. She was just a senior manager. She couldn't promise leadership titles, no matter how much she wanted to.

As she sighed internally, already preparing to give up, something unexpected happened.

A bright notification suddenly popped up on her personal career panel.

> "Important Guild Announcement: Lucas has been officially promoted to Vice President of the Tower Demolition Team Guild."

Emily's eyes widened. What?! Lucas joined the guild? And was already made Vice President?!

She almost burst out laughing right there in the café.

This was huge!

Not only did they manage to recruit Lucas—a rising star with mysterious strength and a hidden combat profession (Shadow Assassin)—but that also meant something even more important:

Amelia Su was sure to follow.

Emily's thoughts raced. Wait! That means our guild now has two SS-level talents! Lucas and Amelia!

And not just that. Lucas, despite being officially rated as S-rank, had shown strength that didn't match his rank—his combat potential was through the roof. Once he and Amelia reached Level 100, they'd become what could only be described as the future Big Three of the guild.

The guild president's long-held dream—to create a top-level strategy team—was finally coming together.

Excited beyond measure, Emily felt her earlier disappointment vanish. She needed to get back to headquarters and celebrate with her team!

But then—

"Miss Emily?" Alexis asked gently, noticing the change in her expression. "Did something good happen?"

Emily blinked. She had gotten so excited, she forgot she was still mid-conversation. Though she'd already accepted that Alexis wouldn't join, it was still rude to suddenly zone out.

"Oh! I'm so sorry," Emily said quickly, bowing slightly. "I just received some really important news. I didn't mean to be disrespectful."

Alexis raised an eyebrow, curious now. "Important news? About the guild?"

Emily nodded. "Yes, actually. One of this year's SS-level freshman geniuses has officially joined our guild."

Alexis's eyes widened. "Wait—are you talking about... Amelia?"

Emily smiled. "Exactly."

Alexis looked shocked. She and Amelia were close friends and roommates. And while she knew Amelia had been weighing her options, she had never officially told anyone which guild she'd join.

But now, hearing this from Emily...

"Last night, she seemed unusually cheerful," Alexis muttered to herself. "She was humming, of all things... I thought she just had a good day."

She looked at Emily again. "So... she really joined your guild?"

"Well," Emily said, choosing her words carefully, "Lucas joined us officially today as Vice President. Since Amelia is closely tied to him and they'd agreed to join the same guild, it's practically confirmed."

Alexis's jaw dropped.

"Lucas too? And as Vice President?!"

"That's right." Emily leaned forward slightly. "With his joining, Amelia's decision was practically sealed."

She paused, then added casually, "You and Lucas are friends, right?"

Alexis nodded slowly. "Yes… we fought together once during the Secret Realm event."

"Exactly. You even helped defend him when others questioned his strength," Emily added. "So, given your connection to both Lucas and Amelia… I was thinking—maybe you'd want to join them?"

Alexis hesitated.

The thought had never crossed her mind before. She had always assumed she'd go to Prosperity Guild like her father. But now…

Lucas had joined a small guild. Amelia was following.

And they weren't just joining—they were becoming its core.

Suddenly, the Tower Demolition Team Guild wasn't just "some average group."

It was the future.

Emily, sensing her hesitation, pushed gently, "You can contact Amelia and ask. She'll confirm everything. I'm not here to mislead you."

Alexis bit her lip. She wasn't the type to act on rumors, but Emily's confidence was hard to ignore. She could see the excitement wasn't fake.

"…Alright," Alexis finally said. "I'll call her now."

She pulled out her phone and began dialing.

Emily leaned back with a satisfied smile. Her recruitment mission wasn't over yet. Not by a long shot.
