"It just doesn't make sense!" Renee said. The movie was almost over.
"What doesn't make sense?" Jimmy asked. Opinions on the movie were divided.
"Spiderman suddenly has a much younger aunt and a completely different costume and why would the Avengers fight their fellow teammates, it just gives villains a bigger chance to become the boss?" Jeremy shrugged.
"Renee has a point there," Scarlet said.
"It's just a movie," Nikki said. She clearly didn't understand how we could get so worked up about a movie.
"But a movie?!?" Auriana defended. She jumped up.
"It's the best movie ever made!" I said, jumping up too. Like Auriana, I'm a huge Marvel fan. They're not just movies, they're a universe of their own.
"Can we just keep watching?" Skylar asked softly. She didn't feel like arguing.
"I agree with Skylar," Emma said.
"Brooke, those chocolate chip cookies are amazing!" Auriana said as she grabbed another one. She was standing by the table.
"Pass us one too," I said, more teasing than serious. I stuck my hand out for Auriana to toss me the cookie.
"Give me a cupcake," Brooke said. Scarlet wanted one too, which left Auriana with her hands full.
"You guys are annoying," Auriana laughed. We had to laugh.
"We love you too!"
"Brooke, you know what you should do?" Jimmy said. Brooke shook her head.
"Take over the bakery." Brooke kissed him on the cheek.
"Aww, thanks." Renee turned her attention back to the movie.
"Movies like this are actually pretty stupid," she said, "you know they have a happy ending." The credits started to roll.
"And then those endless credits," Nikki said. We chuckled and watched the credits so we wouldn't miss the mid-credits and post-credits scenes.
"Okay, time for Truth or Dare. Emma, you go first," Brooke announced. Emma looked around the group.
"Okay, Auriana, Truth or Dare?" She raised her eyebrows in challenge.
"I'm not scared…Dare!" This was exactly what Emma was hoping for.
"Kiss Jake!" she said with a laugh. Auriana stopped laughing.
"Do I have a say in this?" I asked. The last thing I wanted was for things to get even more awkward between us.
"No!" eight voices said at once. Auriana hesitated.
"You chose Dare," Emma said. Auriana sighed and stood up and walked over to me.
"Rules are rules," Renee said when Auriana tried to stall. She kissed me on the cheek.
"You didn't specify what kind of kiss," Nikki said. Auriana looked at her gratefully.
"Sky, Truth or Dare?" Auriana asked.
"I choose Truth." It didn't really come as a surprise to Auriana. Skylar was always very careful with these kinds of games.
"If you had to choose between a night in jail or a night with tigers, what would you choose?" She thought for a moment.
"The...the tigers, I'm good with animals." We looked at each other approvingly. That was also a real Skylar answer. She would keep the tigers busy all night by playing some kind of game with them.
"Jake, Truth or Dare?" Skylar asked. They all looked at me expectantly.
"Truth, come on with that question."
"Do you like Auriana?" I looked away from the others. That she had to ask this question. Maybe I can get away with a lie?
"The truth," Jimmy said. Shit, he knows me too well. I looked up at Auriana who was looking at me curiously.
"Yeah," I said softly, my eyes holding Auriana's. Emma and Skylar exchanged a knowing look.
"Jake, can Skylar and I talk to you in the hallway?" Skylar, Emma, and I walked into the hallway. Emma closed the door behind her so the people inside couldn't listen in.
"What's wrong?" I asked, looking at them questioningly. The girls exchanged glances. They seemed to be discussing who should speak.
"You´ve got to make Auriana jealous," Emma explained. I couldn't believe my ears and looked at them as if they were crazy.
"What?! Why?" I asked confused. It was not at all clear to me what those two were after.
"Because she likes you too, and if you make her jealous then she´ll definitely wants you!" Skylar said. Now I knew for sure that they were crazy.
"You guys are crazy!" I wanted to walk away but stopped when Emma defended their idea.
"Crazy enough to come up with such a crazy plan like that, that it just might work." Those words made me turn around. She had a point there.
"But how?"
"Hannah! She's madly in love with you!" Isn't it a bit cruel to use another girl to make the other jealous when I know she has feelings for me? Then again, Hannah falls in love pretty easily…
"I'll text her later." We walked back inside.
"Okay, Jimmy Truth or Dare?" I asked, sitting down next to Jeremy again.
"Dare." He's so predictable.
"Kiss Brooke."
"No problem," he laughed. Jimmy leaned over to Brooke and gave her a long kiss.
"Okay, okay, that's enough." Brooke and Jimmy burst out laughing.
"Renee, Truth or Dare?" We were all surprised that Renee chose Truth.
"Who do you think is the cutest boy in our class?" Renee's cheeks turned a little red.
"Bobby," Renee replied. She turned her head away so no one could see her red cheeks.
"He's ugly," Jimmy said. Brooke gave him a look.
"He's the hottest boy in the class!"
"Hey!" Jimmy, Jeremy and I said offended. The girls burst out laughing. Renee turned to Nikki.
"Truth or Dare?" Nikki thought for a moment before answering.
"Dare." Renee thought for a moment, looking for a good Dare.
"Eat a cupcake without using your hands." Emma stood up, got one and placed it in front of Nikki. Nikki put her hands behind her back and started eating.
"Not a single crumb on her face!" Jeremy said in amazement. While he watched with his mouth open.
"Okay, Scarlet, Truth or Dare?" Nikki asked.
"I think I'll go with Dare." Nikki got a wicked smile on her face.
"Pull off a prank call." Scarlet picked up the home phone and dialed a random number.
"Howdy partner, this is CJ Goldenheart and I'm proud to announce that you've won a brand new car, all you have to do is pick it up at Sweet and Sour Apple Acres, yeeeehaw!" Scarlet hung up.
"Wow," Nikki said. She was amazed at how quickly Scarlet had come up with that.
"Jeremy, Truth or Dare?"
"Dare," he laughed. The smile disappeared like snow in the sun when he heard that he had to change clothes with Nikki for his Dare.
"But she's wearing a skirt!" he protested. The look on his face made us laugh.
"You chose Dare," Jimmy laughed. Nikki and Jeremy walked away and came back into the room a moment later.
"That skirt is nice and airy. Brooke Truth or Dare?" Brooke knew better now and chose the safe option.
"Truth."
"Does this skirt look good on me?" Jeremy asked as he put a hand on his hip and his foot forward. Everyone in the room except Jeremy burst out laughing.
"Yeah, actually it does," Brooke said between laughs. It took a few minutes for the laughter to finally die down.
"Renee, Truth or Dare?" Brooke asked. As expected, Renee chose Dare.
"Kiss my brother on the mouth."
"What?! No way!" Renee crossed her arms in protest.
"So you're chickening out?" Brooke asked defiantly, knowing Renee never chickened out. She sighed and shook her head.
"Chase!" Chase entered the room.
"What's up Brooke?" Renee sighed deeply again and walked over to Chase.
"What's up Renee?" he asked unsuspectingly. Renee took a deep breath and quickly kissed him.
"You like me?!" Chase asked in disgust. She shook her head wildly.
"No! It was for a Dare." Chase rolled his eyes.
"Brooke's idea, right?" We all nodded our heads. Chase grabbed a cupcake before Brooke could stop him and ran back to his room. This was my chance, I grabbed my phone from the table and started a new conversation.
Jake: Hey Hannah.
Hannah: Hey, why are you texting? Not that I mind…
Jake: Come to school tomorrow afternoon.
Hannah: We have tomorrow off?
Jake: Okay, I'll put it this way… will you be my girlfriend?
I didn't have to wait long for an answer, the response came almost immediately. As if she had her answer ready.
Hannah: Yes! <3
Jake: Okay, I'll see you tomorrow at the party.
I put my phone away and saw the rest of them looking at me. It seemed like they all wanted to know who I was texting.
"Finally done?" Auriana asked bored. I rolled my eyes and threw a pillow at her head.
"Oh shut up Auri."
"It's on!" Auriana said as she threw the pillow back. Brooke threw a pillow at Renee. And soon a big pillow fight started.
