Hailee's POV
When we got back to my bed, I couldn't calm down. My heart was pounding, my mind running wild with worry. I kept glancing toward the door, wishing I could get up and run to the emergency room.
"I need to be with my boys," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I need to make sure they're okay."
The nurse who was adjusting my IV turned to me with a gentle smile. "They're still unconscious, ma'am," she said softly. "But once they wake up, we'll let you know right away."
She gave me a reassuring nod before leaving the room, quietly closing the door behind her.
The silence that followed was heavy, too heavy. I looked up at Frederick, who stood beside the bed, his hands in his pockets, watching me with that same calm expression he always wore when I was breaking apart inside.
"Frederick," I said, my voice cracking. "You have to help me. They'll take my sons away. I can't let that happen."
