As the light from the sun shone through the unknown lands, Adam woke up to Lyra's face looking at him. "Glad you had a good rest, Adam," Lyra spoke softly.
Adam got up from Lyra's lap and sat next to her. "I'm sorry for yesterday. I'm just overwhelmed by everything. Seeing Emily unable to recognize me and feeling helpless was the last straw," Adam said calmly.
"It's fine, Adam. I'm here to be your place of comfort. Remember before, that we spent our time here? I have known everything about you from your past memories to what you were feeling being alone in the unknown lands. I was here with you then, and I will always be here with you till the end. You don't need to be sorry for your feelings; I have learned and grown as a human. I can now understand what you're going through," Lyra said.
Adam smiled, looking at Lyra. He was not just impressed by her growth as a human but reminiscent of the time they were together even before she got her own body. "I'm ashamed of myself for being weak. I don't feel like I can show this in front of everyone. Their image of me being dependable would shatter if they saw me like this. You're the one that I can truly be myself with. Thank you for being by my side," Adam said as he put his finger, interlocking it with Lyra's.
"I'll be here for you. Whenever you're ready to return, just let me know," Lyra replied.
"You're becoming more human than me is an understatement now," Adam said, joking about their past.
"I'm glad you didn't lose your humanity and turn into a robot," Lyra remarked as she smiled and giggled.
Adam laughed, hearing the joke coming from Lyra. "You've come a long way from an AI to being human. You got your personality, and I really like it," Adam said.
"I learned some things while you were away; I can make jokes too," Lyra stated.
"I'm ready now. You've cheered me up. It's time to face my current reality," Adam said.
"Anytime you're ready, Adam," Lyra replied.
Adam instantly teleported them in front of the house. As Adam pushed the door open, noise from the dining room could be heard; everyone was there for breakfast. Adam and Lyra walked toward the dining room, and Adam saw Emily sitting with her parents.
"Come join us for breakfast!" Emily's parents called for both Adam and Lyra. Emily did not react hysterically as Adam walked in with Lyra. Both took the empty seats and looked around as everyone tried to cheer up the mood. Alyssa was covering Alynna's mouth, preventing her from saying unnecessary triggers. Leon put the food on the table for both Adam and Lyra.
"Our family united after a long while, I would like to propose a toast for Adam's and Emily's return and welcoming Emily's family into our house," Albert spoke as the head of the house. "Cheers to our reunion and our new family!" Everyone toasted together.
"Next up, Arthur will be leaving today to the demon territory for business. We will wish him luck on his journey," Albert spoke again for another toast. "Cheers to Arthur!" Everyone shouted.
"Thank you, everyone, for your support. I'll bring back good news when I'm back," Arthur spoke confidently. Everyone clapped and cheered him on, boosting his confidence.
As the laughter of everyone talking with each other filled the room, Adam glanced at Emily, seeing her smile and laugh. Even though Emily didn't take notice of Adam, seeing her smile sent a feeling of ease through him.
Emily's parents saw Adam looking and smiled, nodding to assure Adam that Emily was stable. Emily's mom whispered, mouthing the word "Patience. She needs more time." Adam looked and understood what she was trying to convey. Adam started talking with the family as they shared stories from the time Adam and Emily were away.
