As they all sat for dinner:
Tenebris said, "Liebe, you should be careful, OK?"
Liebe said, "OK, Daddy."
Alysa said, "So what did you do today after you vanished from Gelda's explanation of the law?"
Liebe whispered in her ear, "I went to the forest, and Mommy and I were riding a tiger. Let's ride the tiger together next time."
Alysa said, "Deal."
Licht said, "Nice. You should have told me."
Liebe said, "I did. You were asleep."
Gelda said, "You three done scheming for tonight, or is there more?"
Liebe said, "Nope. That's all of it."
Licht said, "Yup. Everything in our entire lives."
Alysa said, "Exactly. We aren't planning to sneak out tomorrow as well. Nope."
Liebe said, "Not at all."
As Gelda was feeding mushed carrots to Elizabeth, she sighed and said, "You three really are a lot of trouble, I swear. Now I'm just hoping Elizabeth isn't as bad as you three."
Liebe said, "We aren't that bad."
Elizabeth said, "Mommy, candy!"
Gelda said, "Great. You three spoiled this one too. Wait a minute, dear, after the carrots, OK?"
Liebe said, "I will get some from my stash."
Alysa said, "She can have mine."
Licht said, "I guess one from mine is good too."
Gelda said, "You see? The three of you are spoiling her rotten. And when you aren't, you are just running off to cause more trouble. And Liebe, as the leader and blah blah team leader, you should be more responsible than fighting every tiger you see out there."
Domr said, "Come on, Gelda. Let the kiddos have some fun. It is the magic of youth."
Lilith said, "Yup, exactly."
Tenebris said, "Umm, I don't think you should give Miss Gelda so much trouble."
Gelda said, "Thank you for knowing how much work these three are. Not to mention, my own one is now being spoiled by these three."
Tenebris said, "I hear you, and I'm sorry."
Gelda said, "It's OK. You really are too good for this little dumbass."
Lilith said, "I'm sitting right here."
Gelda said, "Shut up, dumbass. You are the one who keeps giving your kid stupid, stupider ideas."
Domr said, "But how? Riding a tiger seems fun. Why would it be stupid? I used to do it all the time back when I was a kid. It was pretty fun. By the way, Liebe, today is September 13th. You know what that means?"
Liebe said, "Umm, what?"
Domr said, "Your birthday is next month. And on December is Alysa's birthday, and January is your mother's birthday and your parents' wedding anniversary. Four celebrations in three months."
Liebe said, "Yeahhh!"
Domr said, "So what do you want for your birthday? Ask Grandpa for anything you want."
Liebe said, "Let me think."
Gelda said, "Captain, stop supporting the idiot. Not to mention, because you taught the kid teleportation, he keeps sneaking away from me."
Domr said, "But I did that in case he was in danger and needed to escape."
Gelda said, "And now I'm the bad guy, huh?"
Liebe said, "I got it. What I want."
Domr said, "What is that, little Liebe?"
Lilith said, "Remember to ask big, OK? Grandpa is the strongest man in the world."
Tenebris said, "Lilith, stop doing that."
Liebe said, "I want a dragon. A giant alpha dragon. I want a black one. I want it this big—no, this big—no, no, this big! I want it black, and I want it to fly and breathe fire."
Lilith said, "But why wish bigger? You can fly too."
Liebe said, "But, Mommy, dragons are cool."
Alysa said, "Super cool."
Licht said, "The coolest."
Elizabeth said, "The goodest."
Tenebris said, "Ummm, OK, son. Sooooo, I don't think—"
Domr said, "OK. A giant tyrant black dragon it is."
Liebe said, "Yeahhh!"
As Gelda slammed her fist on the table:
Gelda said, "Do that, Captain, and I will punch you next."
Domr said, "Stop worrying. What's the worst that will happen? And if he raises it himself, it will be his loyal friend."
Tenebris said, "Sir, I don't think he is ready enough for that kind of responsibility yet."
Domr said, "Nonsense. He is ready. Right, Liebe?"
Liebe said, "Yup."
Gelda said, "Captain, do that and I will chop your balls next."
Domr said, "Alright, fine. Then maybe when you are 17."
Liebe said, "17? I will practically be dead by then."
Gelda said, "Thank you."
Alysa said, "There, there. Cheer up. Till then, we can play and wait or go on other missions."
Domr said, "So what else do you want, Liebe?"
Liebe said, "To be a prince. I want a cool giant castle for my pet dragon when I get him."
Domr said, "Umm—"
Gelda said, "No castles."
Tenebris said, "How about we try something simpler?"
Domr said, "What is wrong with you? Let the kid wish big. And when I get it, I will be the favourite grandparent."
Gelda said, "You are literally the only grandparent. You don't have any competition."
Domr said, "Oh yeah, that."
Liebe said, "What? People have more than one grandparent?"
Alysa said, "Yup."
Licht said, "Yes. Usually 4 of them."
Liebe said, "Why was I missing out all my life? I need to find the other three."
Gelda whispered to Lilith, "How do I tell him the other three are dead?"
Lilith said, "I don't know."
Tenebris said, "I think it's best if he doesn't know right now."
Domr said, "Well then, Liebe, after dinner, come to my office as the leader of Team Liebe, OK? We have work to do."
Liebe said, "Got it, Grandpa."
Lilith said, "Just him, not me? Captain, something seems suspicious."
Liebe said, "Nope, Mommy. Nothing is suspicious at all."
Gelda said, "Nothing at all."
Alysa said, "Nothing at all."
Licht said, "None."
Domr said, "Now, Liebe, what do you wanna be when you grow up?"
Liebe said, "I wanna be a cool knight who kicks bandit butt. Team Liebe will be called the coolest—no, the most vilest order of knights ever produced in the history of Eldoria."
Alysa said, "Cool. What will our titles be?"
Liebe said, "It will be: Elizabeth the Babbiest Knight of them all. Alysa the Most Adorable Knight of them all. Licht the Sleepiest Knight of them all. And as the leader, Liebe Faust the Strongest in the World."
As Gelda, Lilith, Tenebris, and Domr laugh a little:
Domr said, "Is that truly what you want?"
Liebe said, "Yes, Grandpa."
Liebe said, "Wait, Alysa, your cheeks are so squishy." As he pulled them. Liebe said, "It's so soft and squishy. Can I play with them a bit more?"
Alysa said, "OK."
Gelda said, "Don't hurt her, OK."
