The exercise was to see what all of you are capable of, but attempted murder of your peers—that can't be overlooked. Everyone, call the medic!
Alysa and Licht were taken away, and their wounds were too harsh to heal just with magic. It was as if their bodies were rejecting the healing magic. Even Liebe's dark magic wasn't working. The rest of the classes were cancelled for the day, and Liebe rushed them to the infirmary. He stayed on the seat beside their bed.
While Alysa wasn't wounded too badly, Licht was a different story. His body was scarred, and he was slashed in the location where his lungs were. He lost blood and was bleeding internally.
Eventually, after about seven hours, Alysa gained consciousness. As she sat up, she saw Liebe sitting beside their bed.
Alysa said, "Liebe, what are you doing here?"
Liebe said, "Thank god you are okay, I was so worried."
Alysa said, "Yeah, I'm fine. But I wouldn't be as lucky if it wasn't for Licht. I wouldn't have been able to survive. When I said I wanted to be the Ace Unit, he agreed. But then, after a few moments, he said he had a bad feeling—that it would be best if he fought as the Ace Unit and I was the Commander Unit. It's the same reason he fought M. And in a few seconds, I saw flashes of light. Then I saw a huge flash of light, and Licht was defeated. Then the huge light engulfed me, and it was over before I could even know what happened. That light… it was something else."
Liebe said, "I can understand you losing, but how did he deal with Licht in seconds? Something doesn't add up. There has to be a trick. Lemme see what I can find in the remains of the battlefield."
Alysa said, "Ok. And what about Licht?"
Liebe said, "I don't understand. How could he be defeated so quickly and easily? Maybe there is a possibility that he was distracted, or that she played dirty. Even according to the knights, Licht's skills are top-notch. I'm sure we are missing something. Inform me the moment Licht gains consciousness. I'm heading back to Gremory Island."
Then he returned to Gremory Island. As he examined the soils, it was seen that certain parts were burned, and it was as if the first few attacks were just to examine Licht, and the final strike was to end it.
Then someone from behind said, "If you dig too deep, you might just not be able to dig out."
Liebe said, "M Grinberryal… or should I say Mavia Grinberryal. Here to kill me or ask something?"
M said, "You are the son of Lilith Faust, are you not?"
Liebe said, "Yes, I am. And I'm guessing you used your holy relic for that attack. Otherwise, defeating Licht doesn't seem that easy. So, what do you want?"
M said, "A duel."
Liebe said, "Ok then, let's begin."
Liebe equipped his dual blades, and M equipped her blade—a longsword.
Liebe said, "A longsword? Now that's unique. Is that your holy relic?"
M said, "No," and charged toward him.
Liebe said, "Dark Magic: Dark Shield!"
M said, "Holy Light Magic: Divine Slashes!"
Liebe said, "Dark Magic: Gradient Slash!"
As the slashes clashed, thunder raged as it started to rain.
During this fight, Liebe couldn't understand how this level of strength even compared to Licht, more or less defeated him. Could it be possible that someone else fought Licht? Or maybe her magic was dependent on the time of day?
Then he dismissed these thoughts, since the magic signature and amount he felt was the same. Devil power was also dismissed, since using devil power would definitely affect that magic signature. So all he saw today were still part of M's magic attribute.
So the real question became: what, and how much, does she know about their attributes?
To test the theory, Liebe let M strike him and turned his body partially into smoke. When her attack went through the smoke and he was unharmed, it proved that even she didn't know most of the properties.
And then Liebe decided to end the battle.
