Chapter 110 - The Heart Doesn’t Know

After crashing into the ground, Licht said, "So, how was your little trip?"

Lucifer replied, "It was amazing! I saw it—I finally saw the magic power I was feeling for so long. It was truly amazing."

Licht asked, "What exactly did you see?"

Lucifer answered, "Exactly what I wanted. And by the way, did you find your familia?"

Licht nodded. "Yeah, and it's pretty cool."

Lucifer asked, "What is it?"

Licht said, "Look," and showed a glowing orb.

Lucifer asked, "And what might that be?"

Licht proudly replied, "A Tiamyss egg."

Lucifer's eyes widened. "Whoa, congrats! How did you find it?"

Licht explained, "I was on Isla Island for… reasons you know."

Lucifer smirked. "Yes, I know. And personally, knowing about those reasons seems more interesting—but keep going."

Licht continued, "I sensed something underwater, about 13 km away from the shores of the beach. I saw some underwater ruins, and I felt like something was calling me. This sea Livyaton called out to me. As I reached my hand, I felt it asking me why. My soul resonated—it fed on my mana, asking to join me. Despite being a mythical sea monster, I wanted it to become my familia. I understood why—it's my love for the deep ocean and its serene beauty that made us choose each other. Now I just have to wait for it to hatch."

Lucifer nodded. "Nice. But I heard they can take up to 900 years to mature, and right now the egg is just 5 cm in radius."

Licht said, "I'll help it grow with my mana."

Lucifer replied, "Good luck, then."

At that moment, Alysa walked up to them and said, "Lucifer, what happened? Why did you crash, and why is your uniform so dirty?"

Lucifer answered, "Long story. But I finally saw my familia—I know for sure now."

Alysa smiled. "And here's my familia. Look at her."

Lucifer whistled. "Damn, that's cool."

Alysa explained, "I don't know why, but this Death Gripper came to Isla Island despite the fact Valhala Island is over 17 km away. She was injured, and when I tried to walk up to her, she used her stinger… and well, I guess that wasn't a good idea. Then I gave her some berries, and eventually she let me get close. I healed her as best I could, and she let me fly on her back. Now she's my familia. She even has my crest engraved on her neck."

Lucifer said, "Nice. And I guess she's the one who caused that acid burn on your right arm?"

Alysa admitted, "Kinda."

Lucifer said, "Let me take a look. Dark Magic: Darkest Heal." But instead of healing, it seemed to make the wound worse.

Lucifer frowned. "Is it getting worse?"

Alysa quickly replied, "It's nothing."

Lucifer said, "Since my magic isn't working, let's let Licht try."

Licht nodded. "Light Magic: Gentle Light."

As the light particles touched Alysa's forearm, the wound healed—this time faster than ever before.

Lucifer said, "I checked, and your Death Gripper is quite strong—5 meters tall and 7 meters long. She's… well, fully mature."

The Death Gripper hissed at Lucifer.

Alysa said, "Look here, she likes being rubbed under the chin."

Lucifer chuckled. "I can see that."

The Death Gripper licked Alysa, who groaned. "Stop, stop! You're getting my uniform dirty!"

Then Alysa said, "Licht, why don't you go on ahead? Lucifer and I have something to discuss."

Licht said, "Alright then. Good luck."

As Licht left, Alysa and Lucifer began to talk while walking.

Lucifer said, "Well, Licht sure seems more talkative than before."

Alysa smiled. "Yeah, and I know why. It changed him—maybe for the better."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "Okay then, answer me this—who is she?"

Alysa blinked. "Who?"

Lucifer smirked. "What, how, when—girl. You said you know, right? I've never seen him like this before. It's obvious he has love sickness. And for some reason, he wanted to go to Isla Island with you instead of Valhala Island, which would have been fun."

Alysa hesitated. "Wellllll… it's… it's…"

Lucifer pressed, "Just tell me. As long as she doesn't sleep in class, or bite her nails, and can cook, and looks okay—and actually looks at him."

Alysa crossed her arms. "Well… Licht made me promise not to tell you."

Lucifer sighed. "Okay, so listen here. Whenever I walked by your class, I saw him staring at three people. I feel like it's one of these three girls. Firstly—Elina, mostly because she's one of the most beautiful in your class. Secondly—Olivia, because she's smart and actually enjoys research, same as Licht. And finally, Licia—because she has beauty, brains, and she actually tried to talk to him. But for a bonus guess—and I don't even know why I'm thinking this—it's just my instinct, but I feel like it's Iris Solace."

Alysa said, "Good guess. But I won't say if she's one of them."

Lucifer frowned. "Sad."

Alysa thought to herself: It's for the best if Lucifer doesn't know. Licht wanted to tell him, but he just gets nervous, thinking if Lucifer will actually approve or not. Probably for the best if he doesn't know—for now, at least.

Then Alysa asked, "Hey Lucifer, I wanted to ask something. How do you feel about this, now that Licht has fallen for someone?"

Lucifer said honestly, "It's great. I'm happy that he'll finally have someone to depend on. But… I wish I could know."

Alysa asked, "And how do you feel about love generally?"

Lucifer shrugged. "I feel it's awkward, and I'm not really a fan of getting a partner. To me, it's just a waste of time."

Alysa coldly replied, "Is that so? I never knew."

The Death Gripper hissed at Lucifer.

Lucifer frowned. "Why's that?"

Alysa lowered her voice. "Because… I also fell for someone a long time ago. And without knowing, I always hang onto his every word. I wish he just knew how I felt."

Lucifer said, "Maybe he will. And maybe he won't."

Alysa suddenly said, "I have something to do." She smiled faintly and ran away.

Lucifer called out, "Okay then, see you later."

While running, Alysa bit her lip until it bled as tears welled up. After a while, she summoned her Death Gripper and flew back to the dorms. She thought to herself: I wish… if only he knew.
