Chapter 61 - The Night Before the Wedding

The night before the wedding, Gelda knocked on the door to Liebe's room.

"Lord, are you there?" Gelda asked.

"Come in," Liebe replied.

Gelda entered and said, "Lord, all preparations are done for tomorrow."

"Did you double the security of the premises?" Liebe asked.

"That has been taken care of," Gelda said. "Guests can only enter after showing their invitations."

"Good. And what about those on patrol right now?" Liebe asked.

"Sujibur reported that his team is patrolling the venue. Since it's an open field, everything is clear—no unusual activities as of right now," Gelda answered.

"Mind if I ask a question?" Gelda added.

"Go ahead," Liebe said.

"Lord, you're still an intern in Black Rose. Why did the captain make you in charge of security?"

"I would like to say it's because Ma'am believes in my tactical prowess and efficiency in controlling the defensive line," Liebe replied. "But unfortunately, the reality is just that my mother—the captain—isn't fond of the idea of my presence existing during the wedding, regardless of the situation."

"But shouldn't the maid of honor be busy with preparations?" Liebe asked.

"Unfortunately, I declined. So, there will be no maid of honor," Gelda said.

"I was kinda hoping for the bouquet toss," Liebe said, "and thought that the maid of honor might actually catch it."

"That would be depressing, considering I'm married," Gelda replied.

"You really are a killjoy," Liebe said.

"Lord, as your personal guard, it's my job to protect you—regardless of being called a killjoy or anything else," Gelda said.

"Quite unfortunately… but oh well," Liebe sighed.

"By the way, the reason I'm here," Gelda continued, "I wanted to let you know, Lord, that it's okay to feel anxious. After all, tomorrow is your mother's wedding."

"Thank you for the condolences," Liebe said.

"Lord, you may be the only one in the world who can consider reassurance as condolences," Gelda remarked.

"Well, today is my last night as the heir to the House of Faust," Liebe said quietly.

"Regardless of what happens tomorrow, your mother will always have a place for you in her heart—as her son, her firstborn, and the strongest," Gelda said.

"Thank you for stating that. Soon there will be a second born," Liebe muttered.

"Not as of right now," Gelda replied.

"Drop it," Liebe said flatly.

"Understood," Gelda answered. "And by the way, former Vice Captain Jewel and his family are here to see you."
