"Well, Ms. Zakhrov, what brings you here?" asked Fr. Abel, as Mikaela entered his office.
"Religion. More specifically, my lack of one," said Mikaela sitting down opposite him.
"Well, not following a specific religion is pretty common these days, not having one doesn't mean you are missing out on something," said Fr. Abel.
"I learned today, that my name is derived from an angel. So it appears that my parents either had, or still have Catholic beliefs, and chose not to pass them to me," said Mikaela, her voice shaking.
"Parents sometimes do make such choices, especially if they don't agree on religion themselves. As you have learned in world history, religious wars can be brutal, and such conflicts still happen," said Fr. Abel, coming around his desk and hugging Mikaela, as she started to cry.
"Can you ask my father to come here? I want to ask him about it," said Mikaela, pulling away and drying her tears.
