A few minutes ago,
Momo tried to catch her breath, hiding behind a massive boulder.
Next to her, Jiro and Hagakure fell into the shallow ditch against the same boulder as well.
Students jumped over them, roaring, firing attacks indiscriminately. If it weren't for the darkness that lingered over this side of the stadium, they would have already lost, getting kicked out of the Exam.
However, surviving the minor group that had been chasing them thus far didn't change their situation.
It would only get worse, Momo knew.
Especially now, with 2-A's trump card — Tokoyami's Dark Dragon — gone.
"Can you not just… you know…" Jiro made eyes at Momo.
"… What?" Momo asked, taking deep breaths.
Hagakure, buck naked, squeezed closer to the two girls to listen.
"You know how you took out Luke's ass…" Jiro said, the corner of her mouth twitching.
"Yeah…" Hagakure snorted out a laugh as well. "I saw it later. That was fun… We should definitely kick his ass again…"
Momo rolled her eyes. "Annnnd?"
"Just turn into that walking bucket of guns and rifles and do some damage!" Jiro shouted in a hushed voice. "Toru and I will back you up if you need time…"
Momo shook her head.
"What? Why?!" Jiro almost let her voice out. "Don't tell me you think it's not right…"
"It has nothing to do with being right or wrong," Momo explained. "I… I don't know how I did that. I have never created half the things before, you know. And, at that time, I didn't just create half the things, but I used them as if they were complete before… uncreating them. Since then, not a day has passed that I haven't tried to do it again. But I couldn't…"
Jiro and Hagakure frowned.
Now that Momo mentioned it, they both realized why she had spent all her time leading up to the Provisional Hero License Exam with Pro Hero Snipe, instead of working on her Quirk.
"Still… if you could do that…" Jiro said, slumping against the boulder in disappointment.
Momo knew what her friend meant.
She knew exactly how broken it would be if she could create half the things.
It wasn't just about saving time, as, by uncreating those half-created objects, she could refuel her lipid reserves.
The day she mastered her Quirk, taking it in that direction, she could probably stop worrying about overeating herself to death.
But that was something she couldn't afford to think about now.
"What about a machine gun?" Hagakure suggested.
"No, the terrain is too broken," Momo said, shaking her head. "I can take advantage of the darkness and hit a few, but that will give away our position. A machine gun won't save us from so many people… We need… Wait!"
Momo's eyes widened, making Jiro and Hagakure twitch.
"… Wha…" Jiro stopped as she saw Momo biting her nails, seemingly in deep thought.
After a while, Momo subtly nodded to herself. "Check for the beacons and let me know where everyone is," she said.
Jiro narrowed her eyes. "I doubt in this chaos I can pick up those signals, but… I can try…"
With a thud, she plunged both her ear-jacks into the earth in two opposite directions.
Momo waited patiently.
The beacons were nothing but small Piezo Buzzers, barely half a finger long. With a continuous power supply, they could emit a tone. As long as the power supply was stable, the loudness remained fairly constant as well.
After Tokoyami had unleashed Dark Dragon, and with Aoyama, Shoji, and Sero missing, Momo had been worried about 2-A getting separated into even smaller groups.
So, knowing that over a hundred students might be taking a roundabout path, avoiding Dark Dragon, to come after the rest of them, she had hastily decided to tackle that troubling thought first.
The act of taking off her jacket hadn't been to create sophisticated weapons.
It was to create these beacons en masse and give a bunch of them to everyone.
In that way, once the battery of one of those beacons ran out, they could turn on the other one, continuously emitting the sound. Using them, as long as the students weren't separated to the very opposite, bright side of the stadium, they could all group up with the help of Jiro's Quirk. The only drawback was that the beacons wouldn't let them know exactly who was at that location.
The same happened presently, too.
Jiro unplugged her ear-jacks with excitement and hurriedly filled Momo and Hagakure in on her findings.
Momo held her chin.
"Uraraka and Sero-kun must be together… I hope," she guessed out loud, whispering. "That was the plan. Tokoyami-kun was taken out by that meat-guy, I think. So, the three closest to them… Tenya-kun, Mineta-kun, and Mina… must be trying to save him as they had already been running in that direction. That leaves us… Sato-kun, Shoji-kun, Ojiro-kun, Aoyama-kun, and Tsu-chan."
"What are you thinking?" Jiro asked. "We don't have much time…"
Momo, instead, looked at Hagakure. "It will be dangerous…"
"That's my middle name," Hagakure replied.
"…"
"…"
"Cough… Luke's words…" Hagakure cleared her throat. "Tell me."
"Jiro and I will go to the others one by one and fill them in on this, but you…" Momo said before pausing mid-sentence. Then, she took a deep breath. "… but you need to do the opposite. Go to as many students as you can… and attach these to their costumes…"
Momo lifted her hand, creating an object on her palm.
And the moment the two girls' eyes landed on it, their brows shot up, their eyes widening to the extreme.
"Aren't they…" Hagakure began.
Jiro, meanwhile, looked up into the darkness. "That idiot… if not before, then he will surely become an idiot after this…"
The object in Momo's hand was red and round, slightly modified to get stuck on a surface.
There was only one person in 2-A who carried such an object these days, especially after the Battle Royale. In fact, he had gone to the Development Studio to have Pro Hero Power Loader and Mei Hatsume upgrade his costume.
"Pointers from Kaminari-kun's Sharpshooting Gear," Momo said, slightly… smiling. "Our way to the next stage…"
Then, as the two girls watched Momo…
… she let her Quirk go wild, creating nearly a hundred more!
