Sefirah Castle,
Figures began appearing one by one in the chairs, the gray fog stirring around the empty head chair.
After they had all appeared, Miss Justice stood up and gave a curtsy to Mr. Fool's chair.
Then, together, their heads shifted toward another chair next to Mr. Star — the seat of the newest member of the Tarot Club — Mr. Devil.
It was an involuntary reaction, as they already knew he couldn't come here. Not in the same way they could, at least.
"What's the need for this urgent meeting, Miss Justice?" The Hanged Man asked.
Audrey nodded. "I will let Miss Magician explain it," she said, making all heads turn toward Fors.
Taking a deep breath and trying to calm her nerves, Fors flicked her wrists.
A set of three letters appeared in front of everyone. "These letters are from Mr. Devil," she said. "Please give them a read."
The first letter was what Luke had sent to her right after becoming an Astrologer.
In this, he had detailed the strange vision he had experienced. The creaking of doors. The whacking of windows. The door on the Moon. And thin, wrinkly fingers, whispering madness from the other side.
It also mentioned how Mr. Fool had sent an Angel to help him in the end.
As the Tarot Club members kept reading it, other than Miss Magician, Miss Judgment, and Miss Justice, who had already read them, they all shifted on their seats unnervingly.
"… This… is impossible," Mr. Star mumbled in disbelief. "Didn't He…"
The Hanged Man composed himself, letting the letter vanish, and looked at Miss Magician. "… There's no mention of pleadings for help," he pointed out.
Miss Hermit nodded in agreement. "He did hear the whispers, but they weren't clear," Cattleya mentioned. "Something seemed to have blocked away the madness…"
Meanwhile, The Sun—Derrick Berg and The Moon—Emlyn White looked at each other as if asking — Were they the only ones who didn't know what was going on?!
Miss Justice, sensing their puzzlement, explained it to them. "Miss Magician used to get these kinds of visions because of her Pathway during the Full Moons. In reality, it was the Abraham family's ancestor who was constantly pleading for help to return to the real world. He was a King of Angels and went by the name… Mr. Door."
Mr. Moon and Mr. Sun suddenly sat straight, finally sensing the gravity of the issue.
"He was corrupted," Miss Magician said, picking up where Audrey left off. "Medici and Amon tricked Him while bringing Him back to the real world via a ritual. To not let the corruption He carried contaminate the planet, He willingly gave up His life. I don't know the entire details, as Mr. Fool warned me that just knowing more will bring corruption."
That sent a chill running down Derrick and Emlyn's spines.
Leonard, who knew a touch more, added, "Actually, it was Amon who stole Mr. Door's apotheosis ritual right after He returned to the planet. It was the same day… when Amon became a Sequence 0 God — Error."
A silence lingered in the Sefirah Castle, the gray fog stirring in their surroundings.
The matter of Mr. Door, a corrupted King of Angels, was already enough to make them stand on their feet. Add Amon to the picture, and it was enough to make them lose sleep over it.
Nothing good had ever come from something associating itself with the God of Mischief, they knew.
And even Mr. Moon and Mr. Sun were astute enough to finally grasp the significance of Mr. Devil's first letter.
"Is Mr. Devil hearing dead Mr. Door's ravings?!" Derrick asked, getting worried about the newest member of the Tarot Club. After hearing his past and the way Mr. Devil acted, Derrick had been remembering his past self when he had just joined the Club as well. Also, Mr. Devil, despite the tarot card he picked, seemed to be quite a nice and humble guy.
The Hanged Man held his chin against Mr. Sun's question. "If Amon consumed a part of the corrupted King of Angels, then it seems unlikely that Mr. Devil heard His ravings," he said. "Also, didn't we confirm last time that the corruption in Mr. Devil comes directly from Mr. Fool?"
"That's what I concluded, too," Miss Justice said. "I think it's time we read the second and third letters now."
Narrowing their eyes, the members began reading the rest of the letters.
The second letter briefly explained the matter of the LA Villains Detention Center, including the Sealed Artifact that he received from Mr. Fool.
"… Wait!" Miss Hermit suddenly said, almost standing. "What… What's this?! — I saw a scene in the Crystal Ball that I didn't divine for. A lack of experience, perhaps? It showed a bearded man wearing glasses. He held the right side of the glasses, pressed it against his eyes, and then continued his work…"
Heads lifted, carrying shaky stares.
As the second letter didn't mention anything remarkable other than Mushroom and Mr. Devil's failure, they hurriedly went for the third letter.
"… It's the most recent letter," Miss Magician said. "I contacted Miss Justice right after getting it, and we decided to arrange an urgent meeting."
Luke had sent the third letter after his meeting with Yoichi Shigaraki, the first user of the One For All, and, supposedly, the First Radiant of Singularity — The Radiant of Hope.
But it wasn't that what attracted the Tarot Club members' gazes, speeding up their heartbeats the most. It was the part of Singularity's pre-recorded message that Mr. Devil had heard from the blue hole.
"… The Boundary has been breached…" The Hanged Man said, his calm disposition melting away.
None had forgotten the fact that Mr. Fool had failed to gaze beyond this Boundary, either. Sure, He hadn't gone there by Himself. But preventing His gaze was enough to show how ridiculous a phenomenon The Boundary was.
Now… it was breached.
And when they combined the first and third letters' contents, the second letter finally began taking the shape of the true horror.
A horror whose name was — Amon!
