AYLA'S POV
Silence stole the atmosphere, now all was in fear, heat of the unknown, the unseen wars. It had not been easy for me as a Luna.
The Frostfangs were quiet again. Too quiet.
Snow stretched in every direction, broken only by jagged black stone and the faint trail of blood we left behind after burning the thralls. My wolf's paws sank into drifts that reached my chest, and every breath stung like glass in my lungs.
Kael's black wolf moved beside me, a living shadow against the white, golden eyes sharp and watchful. The bond hummed hot in my chest, steady and grounding.
"You're shaking," his voice rumbled through the tether.
Keal will always look out for me, his tender care and loving mind keeps me moving each day. I know what I feel is love and what he feels for me is love. I wonder and ask, is this love real? What if I don't really love him that much? Will it last forever?
"It's the cold," I answered, though my wolf's ears twitched. "Or maybe it's the quiet."
