The Gods reach through the shadows, unpredictable motion and in the darkest hour when no one would think of it. The Gods know how to trade someone's destiny to their own benefit, not minding how you feel or think, nor plan. But I must fight my way out, I am made to shine like a star in the sky.
The cold sank into my bones like knives.
Black roots coiled around my wrists and throat, pulsing with Veylor's heartbeat. His presence crawled through my veins, slick and suffocating, whispering in the cracks of my mind.

My wolf snarled inside me, but the bond trembled under the weight of his voice. I felt Kael—hot, molten, furious—through the tether, his wolf pressing against mine like a wall of fire.
