The man standing before them was well built with arms that looked as if they could be as thick as logs. His buzzed hair and scarred face shone with light from the burning wreck of the Ferret and the campfire. His smile disturbed them all the most. An evil smile of a soulless man who had just murdered two of their crewmates.
Migs aimed his large rifle at the huge figure and fired. Nothing happened. The man's eyes met with Migs'. He then lunged towards him with frightening speed and verocity, blade in hand. A fortunate clash of sparks disrupted his attack as his blades were interlocked with two glowing crosses on the arms of John. The Londrun then followed the block with a thrusting kick into the man's stomach, winding him and throwing him back.
Several more vehicles surround the crew with guns from multiple bandits aiming towards them. Some of the bandits stepped closer with large blades in hand.
The man stood up again, appearing unaffected by John's kick.
"That was worse than the hammer," He scoffed. "Thought all of you would have blows as mighty as that girl."
The man's smile then dropped. His face now had a blank expression. His eyes were an almost wispy white. He pointed at the group and gave the command to his henchmen.
"Kill them."
With a quick flick of his arm, John threw up a bright yellow ball into the air which slowed to stall.
"Close your eyes!" He shouts as the ball then bursts into a bright, blinding light.
The bandits then began firing wildly at the air and the ground. Some of them even shooting each other in the madness. Hugo and Migs then quickly commandeer a truck with a mounted machine gun, throwing the blinded bandits off their feet and onto the sand. Migs steps on the accelerator flat, launching the vehicle towards their crewmate's murderer. The rest of the crew jump on as the man collides with the bull bars of the truck, still blinded by the flash of god.
As they sped away into the night, they could still hear the gunfire of the bandits, still desperately trying to eliminate them.
"Swap with me John," Migs wheezed. "Those fucking cunts killed them. They killed our mates. FUCK!"
"It was the same group who ambushed us before," gasped Ehma as she recalls the emblem of the light vehicle.
"They shot at us first! Fuckers don't know when to quit!" Shouted Migs.
Hugo shed a tear for his fallen comrades. He never expected to see a friends die so soon.
"Where can we go from here now? We can't last long in the wastelands with no tank." Ehma asked worryingly."
"The Cat people's territory should be the closest from here. If we keep following the highway, we'll eventually find dirt paths leading to cat villages." Explained John. His heart grew evermore heavy as he recalls the moments he first met the two engineers in a tavern on the coast of Dog Town.
Midra and Malcolm are now dead. Blood from the crew of the Ferret has been spilt for the first time.
The crew quietly mourned together as the truck continued along the highway.
