Chapter 474 - Chapter 474: The Gameboard of Fate

Even while in his Heart Demon state, Xiao Yan couldn't help but feel a touch of helplessness at the sight before him. He had schemed meticulously and managed to bring Liu Feng down with great difficulty. He had thought that he could now focus on dealing with Lin Dong and the others. Yet, unbelievably, this guy had a resurrection ability—rendering all of his earlier efforts practically meaningless.

And after suffering such a lesson, Liu Feng would definitely not fall for the same trick again. Thinking about trying to take him down in one move, as before, was now utterly impossible. Worse, Xiao Yan was about to face the full-force counterattack of five sovereign-level beings, each more terrifying than even the Nine-Eyed Evil God.

Just as Xiao Yan braced himself to face the encirclement, two spatial cracks suddenly appeared in the surrounding void. From within them slowly stepped out Zhou Yuan and Li Luo. Upon seeing the calm expressions on their faces, Xiao Yan's heart gradually sank—for he realized he had lost contact with the two clones he had sent to delay them. That could only mean one thing: they had both been defeated.

Although Xiao Yan hadn't expected his clones to defeat Zhou Yuan and Li Luo, he had hoped they could at least stall them. But the speed at which they were overwhelmed still caught him off guard. It seemed these two were no weaker than Lin Dong and Mu Chen.

The defeat of his clones meant that Xiao Yan was now alone, facing the combined might of five peerless experts. Any one of them could rival, or even surpass, the Heavenly Evil God at his peak. Even someone as confident as Xiao Yan couldn't help but feel a sliver of despair creeping in.

"You've made it this far... that's truly impressive, Xiao Yan," the Heavenly Evil God said, walking up beside the five figures. He gazed at the grim-faced Xiao Yan with a faint smile. "But no matter how much you struggle, the outcome is already written. You cannot defeat them."

"How would you know if I don't try?" Xiao Yan took a deep breath, a hint of madness flickering in his eyes. He looked up toward the figure that appeared in the form of the Heavenly Evil God—the will of the world itself—and suddenly asked, "I'm guessing... you're not just the World Will of the Great Thousand World, are you?"

"What do you mean by that?" the Heavenly Evil God's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Your power... is simply too unnatural," Xiao Yan said after a brief silence. "I've dealt with the real World Will of the Great Thousand World before. That thing was deeply troubled by the Heavenly Evil God. But the power you're displaying now… you could obliterate the real Heavenly Evil God countless times over."

"I used to wonder if you were something else entirely. But you clearly possess world power. That must mean you are indeed a world will… but not a normal one. If I'm not mistaken, the one I encountered before was merely a fragment of you, wasn't it?"

Normally, unless one had inscribed their true name on the so-called Sky Rankings, even the most powerful Sovereign couldn't sense world power. But Xiao Yan's body now contained a portion of the Plane Spirit Body, which allowed him to perceive these elusive energies—since plane power is essentially a derivative of world power.

Thus, Xiao Yan was able to sense that this version of the Heavenly Evil God had indeed manipulated world power. That alone proved he was a true World Will—but his strength far exceeded the usual limit.

And when he considered that the Extraterritorial Evil Beings had originated from outside the Great Thousand World, Xiao Yan boldly speculated that this Heavenly Evil God could very well be the will of the greater universe itself, encompassing countless worlds. Otherwise, there was no way he could summon such powerful projections and give them strength equal to or greater than their original selves.

"You're clever. But cleverness won't save your life," the Heavenly Evil God said with a smile, not denying Xiao Yan's guess—effectively confirming it. His acknowledgment only made Xiao Yan's expression grow more solemn.

Xiao Yan stared at the figures standing across from him and suddenly had an even bolder guess. He asked, "So... all those things in my past life… were you involved in that too?"

Hearing this, the Heavenly Evil God's brows lifted in slight surprise. "You even sensed that? Not bad. That's right—I was the one who altered your destiny. I wanted to see if, without all those 'fortuitous encounters,' you could still grow into who you were meant to be. As it turns out, only you made it to the end."

"You said you all?" Xiao Yan latched onto that word sharply. So this wasn't just about him. Could he be referring to Qing Tan? No... Xiao Yan's gaze shifted to Liu Feng and the others—his pupils suddenly shrinking. Could it be… these people aren't just projections?

"Correct," the Heavenly Evil God said, placing a hand on Liu Feng's shoulder. "Just like you, they are all products of altered destinies. But in the end, they failed. You were the only one who escaped my control. That's what interests me—how did you do it?"

"You want to know?" Xiao Yan's eyes grew colder as he stared at the one who had caused so much of his past life's suffering. "Then let me tell you—I relied on no one but myself. I don't care if you're the World Will or the Cosmic Will. If you've wronged me… I'll make you pay the price!"

"I just worry that you don't have the strength." The Heavenly Evil God chuckled softly, then looked toward the five figures beside him. "Do it. Don't waste any more time."

As his command fell, the five figures all began preparing their ultimate attacks. Though they had yet to release them, the sheer force of energy surging around them already rivaled the dazzling flame lotus Xiao Yan had summoned earlier. Clearly, they were about to unleash their most terrifying strikes to end him once and for all.

Sensing the pressure from their combined might, Xiao Yan exhaled slowly. He knew this would be the deciding moment of the entire battle. Facing the full power of five peerless Sovereigns was an almost impossible task for any one person.

But he had no choice now—he had to go all in.

Besides, he wasn't entirely out of cards.

Because he still had one final trump card…
