During the ancient era of the Dou Qi Continent, myriad races coexisted, and aside from the alchemist system, there existed another equally formidable profession—Weapon Forgers. As the name implied, these individuals specialized in the forging of weapons and had their own ranking system. Weapons at the highest level were known as divine artifacts, equivalent in value and rarity to Emperor-grade pills.
Yet, beyond divine artifacts, there existed a far more terrifying category of weapons known as Ancient Demonic Arms. These were either remnants from beyond the heavens or strange creations born of natural phenomena—each carried immense, unmatched destructive power. Some were so potent that they could rival the existence of a Dou Di. They were instruments of ultimate destruction.
However, with the passage of time, the ancient Dou Qi Continent was plunged into a catastrophic war. The godbeasts and fierce beasts were nearly wiped out, and the divine and demonic arms were all shattered. The continent's weapon forging system was likewise obliterated in the conflict.
Later generations could only piece together fragments of that bygone era through ancient texts. Using these tattered legacies, they gradually rebuilt a rudimentary forging system, giving rise to the magical core weapons of modern times. But compared to the weapons crafted during the ancient era, these were still a far cry from true masterpieces.
After learning this piece of history in his previous life, Xiao Yan journeyed across the ruins of countless ancient battlefields. He spent nearly a hundred years gathering the bones and blood essence of myriad fierce beasts, inscribing the runes of ancient demonic arms upon them. By fusing what he had learned from body-forging Dou Techniques, he simplified and perfected the concept. Eventually, he created one of his most fearsome original techniques—the Infinite Void Demon Body.
Once mastered, this technique allowed the user to unleash power equal to that of an ancient demonic weapon with a single palm strike. Furthermore, it could manifest physical demonic patterns across the body, allowing the user to emulate the shapes and powers of those weapons. However, it came with significant risk. The demonic patterns brought with them a bloodthirsty and violent urge that could overwhelm one's mind. Without immense willpower, one could easily lose control and fall into madness.
In his past life, Xiao Yan only ever took one disciple—and he never taught that student any of his original techniques. Not out of selfishness, but simply because none of them were safe or suitable for others. His techniques were all refined through battles at the edge of life and death.
The Infinite Void Demon Body was one of the Nine Wrathful Arts, and even Xiao Yan himself had never fully mastered it. The technique's difficulty was far beyond his expectations.
By his own estimation, the strength of this Dou Technique depended entirely on how many demonic patterns the user could refine. At its peak, one might engrave tens of thousands of patterns. However, even at the pinnacle of the Dou Sheng realm in his past life, Xiao Yan had only managed to condense a little over a hundred. The true potential of the technique lay far beyond that. Perhaps, only after breaking into the Dou Di realm could one truly unleash its full power.
Even so, its strength was overwhelming. In his past life, Xiao Yan was only able to subdue the fierce Purifying Lotus Demonic Flame because of the enhanced physical strength granted by the Infinite Void Demon Body. Otherwise, he might have been blown apart by its violent energy.
Now, in this life, he had no illusions about mastering it anytime soon. With his current strength at the initial stage of the Dou Zun level, simply reaching the introductory level of the technique would be a huge success. But even at that level, the defense it offered could allow him to withstand full-power attacks from peak Dou Zuns—as long as they weren't powered by Heavenly Rank Dou Techniques. If he managed to form even a single demonic pattern, he might even survive a blow from a Half-Saint.
Of course, he understood the odds were against him. But as the technique's creator, he naturally knew the optimal way to cultivate it. Fortunately, he already had a foundation thanks to his prior cultivation of the Minor Glazed Body; otherwise, it would have been even more difficult to begin this path.
"Looks like I need to gather materials again…" Xiao Yan sighed. In the past, he would've simply had Qing Lin handle this, but lately she'd been caught up in petty squabbles with the other girls. He'd have to find someone else to help. If only Hai Bodong were here in the Black-Corner Region—it would've saved him the headache.
"Wait!" Xiao Yan's eyes lit up. He suddenly remembered that the Miteer Family, where Hai Bodong came from, had a branch in Wu Tan City. He wasn't expecting them to have the rare materials he needed, but they could at least relay a message to Hai Bodong to collect them.
With a casual wave of his hand, a small spatial portal opened in front of him. A step later, he arrived inside the Miteer Auction House in Wu Tan City. But this time, the signboard above the entrance had a new emblem: the symbol of the Xiao Sect.
The maid standing at the entrance was about to inquire about his identity, but then Xiao Yan pulled out a jade token. The moment she saw it, her expression shifted to one of deep respect—and so did the guards nearby. This token was designed by Qing Lin to represent rank within the Xiao Sect, and Xiao Yan's token was, naturally, the highest-ranking one—the exclusive token of the Sect Master.
Led respectfully by the maids, Xiao Yan was ushered into the guest reception room. After a brief wait, the sound of hurried footsteps approached, and a beautiful woman in a crimson robe stepped through the door—it was Ya Fei, the chief auctioneer of the Miteer Auction House in Wu Tan City.
Though Ya Fei's strength wasn't particularly high, her reputation rivaled that of any clan leader in the city. Aside from her status as the head auctioneer, her beauty was unmatched throughout the Jia Ma Empire. That mature, seductive allure had brought many proud men to their knees.
But Xiao Yan was not among them.
He spared her only a brief glance before turning his gaze away. He already had his hands full back home—bringing in another one would be pure madness. He wasn't the type to fall for every pretty face he saw.
Ya Fei seemed slightly surprised when she saw him. One part was because of his age, and the other was his indifferent demeanor. She was confident in her charm; in Wu Tan City, few could resist her allure. But in front of this youth, it seemed to have no effect at all.
Of course, Xiao Yan wasn't hiding his identity today. So, Ya Fei quickly realized who he was. In addition to her auction responsibilities, she also managed intelligence gathering in the area. She had long since seen portraits of this "genius youth" who had been traveling for years. What she hadn't expected was that this young master of the Xiao Family now seemed to have deep ties to the Xiao Sect.
