(Later, Mew is helping Ellen lead the Mareep while Pikachu and Eevee each ride on one.)
(The little Mareep likes to be close to Jen for some reason, not that she, Snubbull, and Amaura mind.)
(Soon enough, Pikachu and Raichu lead the stragglers back to the herd.)
(Mew calls out.)
Mew: "Don't let them wander off, Pikachu!"
(Meanwhile, Brock and Ellen observe the static charge of one of the Mareep.)
(The group soon get to brushing the Mareeps' wool.)
(Mary is brushing Flappy's while the littlest Mareep allows Jen to brush.)
(Mary turns to Jen.)
Mary: "That little Mareep really likes you. This one is usually shy."
Jen: "Really?"
(Jen asks.)
(The little Mareep turns to Jen and baa in reply.)
(Unknown to the group, Team Rocket is watching from afar.)
(James counts each Mareep.)
James: "One Mareep, Two Mareep, Three Mareep, Four Mareep, Five Mareep..."
(And soon falls asleep.)
Meowth: "Hey, wake up!"
(Meowth shouts.)
(But Jessie says.)
Jessie: "Forget him. If we can figure out a way to catch all those Mareep and sell all their wool, think of all the money we'll make."
Meowth: "I'm tinkin'"
(Meowth says.)
Meowth: "Anyting made of Mareep wool costs a fortune. It's super expensive!"
James: "When I was a boy, practically every stitch of clothing I owned, sweaters, socks, unmentionables, everything was made of Mareep wool."
(James says.)
(Jessie and Meowth are surprised.)
(Then James explains.)
James: "It was... like heaven. I had snug, little Mareep wool shorts, cute, little Mareep wool mittens, a scarf, of course, and the most adorable Mareep wool stocking cap you've ever seen. My school-mates were so envious they beat me nearly every day!"
(This makes Jessie and Meowth angry.)
James: "You weren't so fortunate, were you?"
Jessie and Meowth: "NO!"
(Jessie and Meowth say.)
(Then Jessie says.)
Jessie: "Let's figure out how to fleece those Mareep!"
James and Meowth: "Yeah!"
(James and Meowth agree.)
(Later in the evening, Mary is practicing some battling techniques.)
(Mary calls out.)
Mary: "Fluffy, Thunder Shock!"
(Fluffy launches the attack and hits the target.)
(Mary is so happy.)
Mary: "Wow! That was a real good one!"
Mew: "Hey. Your Mareep's Thunder Shock is pretty powerful."
(Mew says.)
Mew: "Did it learn that attack all by itself?"
Mary: "No. We've been practicing."
(Mary says, blushing.)
Mew: "Well, it shows."
(Mew says.)
(Then looks at the Mareep.)
Mew: "I have to guess you call this one, Fluffy? That's a cute name."
Mary: "That's right."
(Mary says.)
Mary: "I raised Fluffy ever since it was a tiny Mareep, and we've been training for a long time, haven't we, Fluffy?"
(Fluffy nods.)
Mew: "Well, all of your training paid off. You should both be really proud,"
(Mew says, and pets Fluffy.)
(Then Mary asks.)
Mary: "Mew, I... Could I ask you a favor?"
Mew: "Sure, go ahead."
(Mew answers.)
(Then Mary asks.)
Mary: "Would you have a battle with me?"
(causing Mew to be surprised.)
(Then Mary says.)
Mary: "I want my Fluffy to battle your Pikachu. You see, Fluffy and I were never in a Pokémon battle before. Please, Mew."
(Mew turns to Pikachu.)
Mew: "What do you say, Pikachu?"
Pikachu: "Pika." (Okay!)
Mew: "Alright, we accept your challenge."
(Mew says.)
(Mary happily says.)
Mary: "Oh, thank you!"
(Soon, Mary and Fluffy, Mew and Pikachu are standing on opposite sides, ready for battle.)
Mew: "Okay! We're ready whenever you are!"
(Mew says.)
Mary: "Are you ready to go, Fluffy?"
(Mary asks her friend.)
(Fluffy baas in reply.)
(Then Mary calls out.)
Mary: "I choose Fluffy!"
(Fluffy dashes into the battle.)
Mew: "Let's give em a battle, Pikachu!"
(Mew says, and Pikachu charges in.)
(Mary calls out.)
Mary: "Fluffy, use Headbutt!"
(Mew calls you.)
Mew: "Watch out, Pikachu!"
(However, Fluffy manages to hit Pikachu.)
Mary: "Good work, Fluffy!"
(Mary says.)
Mary: "Now use your Growl attack!"
(Fluffy uses Growl attack, sending Pikach back.)
(Mew calls out.)
Mew: "Pikachu!"
(Flappy continues to use the Growl Attack, hurting Pikachu's ears.)
(Then Mary calls out.)
Mary: "Fluffy, use Swift attack!"
(Fluffy performs Swift Attack.)
Mew: "Look out, Pikachu!"
(Mew calls out.)
(But Fluffy's attack lands.)
(Mew calls out.)
Mew: "Pikachu!"
(Then Mary calls out.)
Mary: "Fluffy, Thunder Shock attack!"
(Fluffy then launches the attack.)
(Then Mew calls out.)
Mew: "Pikachu, you use your Thunder Shock, too!"
(Pikachu then launches the attack.)
(Soon, both attacks collide, resulting into a standoff.)
Mary: "Come on! Don't give up, Fluffy!"
(Mary calls out.)
(Soon enough, Pikachu begins to show signs of exhaustion.)
(Mew notices it and calls out.)
Mew: "Pikachu, stop Thunder Shock!"
(Pikachu does so and goes on the evasive defense.)
Mary: "Great! Just keep it up, Fluffy! We're winning!"
(Mary says.)
(Then Pikachu continues to dodge the attack.)
Mary: "Fluffy, stronger now! Turn up the power!"
(Mary says.)
(Fluffy does so, however, something's wrong.)
(Mew notices it.)
Mew: "Mary, no!"
(Soon, Fluffy collapses from exhaustion.)
Mary: "Fluffy!"
(Mary calls out.)
(Everyone rushes over to check on Fluffy.)
Mary: "What happened? Fluffy, you have to get back up!"
(Mary asks, concerned.)
(Mew looks at Fluffy's face and says.)
Mew: "Fluffy used up all its energy attacking."
Mary: "It did?"
(Mary asks.)
Mew: "Don't worry, it'll be fine if you give it a nice rest."
(Mew says.)
Mary: "That's good."
(Mary says in relief.)
(She then realizes something and asks.)
Mary: "I don't understand something."
(and thinks back when Mew tells Pikachu to stop using the attack.)
Mary: "Why did you stop Pikachu?"
Mew: "Oh, cause Pikachu was getting all worn out."
(Mew answers, and thinks of earlier in the afternoon.)
Mew: "He was using its energy all afternoon watching the Mareep. If I had kept up with that electric attack, Pikachu would get exhausted, and I didn't want that to happen to one of my buddies."
Pikachu: "Pikachu. (Exactly.)
(Pikachu says.)
Mary: "I never thought of that."
(Mary says, then looks at Fluffy.)
Mary: "I only thought about winning. Fluffy was doing such a great job, and it looked like we were ahead. I wanted to win the battle so much that I forgot about Fluffy. I thought I was just being tough, like a Pokemon trainer should be."
(Then looks at Fluffy with teary eyes.)
Mary: "Poor Fluffy."
(and hugs Fluffy.)
Mary: "I'm sorry."
(Then Mew says.)
Mew: "You know, I think the important thing for a trainer to remember is why a Pokemon battles."
Mary: "I thought attacks are important."
(Mary replies.)
Mary: "They are."
(Mary says.)
Mary: "But a Pokemon loves to battle because it loves to win for its trainer. They think of us so we should always think of them. You're right. You know everything!"
Mew: "Trust me, even though I have some hiccups, I'm still learning and that's one of the things to do is learn from your mistakes and do better."
(Mew says.)
(Pikachu and Eevee agree.)
Mew: "Come on, let's go wash up for dinner."
(Mew says.)
Mary: "Okay."
(Mary says.)
(Later in the night, dinner is ready and everyone is about to eat.)
Ellen: "Well, everything's ready. Time to dig in."
(Ellen says.)
Tomo: "Wow! This smells great!"
(Tomo says.)
Misty: "It all looks so perfect it's almost a shame to eat it."
(Misty says.)
Ellen: "Thank you, Misty. But food's meant to be eaten, not watched."
(Ellen says.)
Mew: "Yeah. Let's eat."
(Mew says.)
(And soon everyone begins to eat, and Brock says.)
Brock: "Pass those potatoes, please."
(As everyone has dinner, Ellen heads upstairs to Mary's room.)
(Ellen calls out.)
Ellen: "Come on, Mary! Dinner's on the table and everybody..."
(But notices Mary is not in her bed.)
(She soon turns her head to her right to hear Mary's voice.)
Mary: "I'm real sorry, Fluffy."
(Petting Fluffy, Mary says.)
Mary: "I made you battle too hard today. You see, I thought we were both ready to be in the festival battle, but now I know I was just dreaming."
(Fluffy baas in reply.)
(Then Mary says.)
Mary: "Oh, I know you're ready, Fluffy, I'm the one who's not ready to battle in the festival yet. Battling with Mew showed me I have a lot to learn as a trainer."
(Fluffy lays her head on Mary's lap.)
(Then Mary says.)
Mary: "From now on, I'm gonna think about your feelings first, and make sure I don't make you battle too hard. Maybe we'll battle next year."
