Chapter 5751: Sentiments
"You must be here to save them, right?" Qiao Lin gestured towards the scattered group lying on the ground. She glanced at Mo Yu with a small look, "Then I won't delay your business. I'm leaving!"
The fellow started to walk away, but Mo Yu grabbed her arm. "Where are you going?"
"None of your business."
"How is it not my business? If I don't keep an eye on you, how will I find where Big Brother and Sister-in-law are?"
"Why don't you tell me now where Big Brother and Sister-in-law are, and I'll send people to pick them up?"
Qiao Lin angrily shook off his hand. "Don't tug at me, I'm warning you! Aiya!" Qiao Lin felt her body lighten, pulled forward by the man. If she hadn't stabilized herself at the last moment, she would have crashed right into his arms. That detestable guy! After years apart, he's only gotten worse.
Qiao Lin glared at him fiercely. "What do you want?"
"If you don't tell me where Big Brother and Sister-in-law are, I won't let you go."
"Childish."
"You're the childish one," Mo Yu snorted, holding her wrist tightly without letting go. "You're heading to Xijiu City, so you're definitely entering the city. We're going the same way, let's go together."
"Who wants to go with you! You're busy with something, aren't you! I..."
"Your Highness." A personal guard, unable to bear the sight any longer, quickly approached and interrupted, "The Second Princess of Tundong is unconscious now. We don't know if she's injured."
Mo Yu gave the guard a sideways glance, his tone very impolite. "If she's injured, go back to the city and find a physician. This prince is not a doctor; what help can I be?"
The guard was a bit speechless, nodding repeatedly. He quickly turned and waved his hand, taking a few other guards to carry the unconscious Second Princess of Tundong, who was on horseback, to the side.
"Your Highness. The Second Princess is completely unconscious now. Should we find a carriage...?"
Mo Yu ignored him completely, directly pulling Qiao Lin and walking back. "Does this prince need to order such a small matter? Handle it yourselves." The guard opened his mouth, forced a faint smile, and then hurried after Mo Yu for a few steps. "Your Highness, the, the Pearl Princess of Tundong, she's... she's still Consort Li's niece. Shouldn't she be treated with...?"
Mo Yu took a deep breath, turned his head, and stared coldly at the guard. "Is your name Chen Yan? I heard you were promoted to Deputy Captain of the Dragon River Guards yesterday?"
"You're climbing quite fast."
Chen Yan immediately lowered his head, giving an awkward laugh. "Your Highness is joking."
"Do I look like I'm joking with you?" Mo Yu sneered, glancing at him. "Do you know Zheng Ru?"
"Before, Consort Zheng was even more favored than the current Consort Li."
"Do you know what happened to her in the end?"
Chen Yan dared not look up, nor did he dare meet the cold gaze of the Crown Prince.
"This prince does not need anyone to teach him how to do things." He coldly lifted his chin, uttering a single word from his lips: "Scram."
Chen Yan quickly retreated a few steps, immediately daring not to say anything else that would displease this high and mighty person.
"Consorts should stay properly within the inner quarters of the palace and manage their own affairs, big or small," Mo Yu coldly added. "A woman who tries to meddle in court affairs will die."
Qiao Lin felt uncomfortable hearing this. She immediately reached out and threw off his hand. Mo Yu turned to see the young girl staring at him with two round, angry eyes.
"What?" He raised an eyebrow nonchalantly, then grunted and pulled her hand back into his grasp.
"Your tone of voice is asking for a beating, you know that?" Qiao Lin yelled, exasperated. "What's wrong with women? Look at your attitude! How much do you despise us women?!"
The Prince's Decision
"Stop fussing." Mo Yu dragged the young girl a few steps, then directly pulled her onto his horse.
"Who, who's fussing with you! What are you doing?" Qiao Lin glared at him, furious. "How dare you tie me up? I'm telling you! If my sister comes, she'll flatten your big head."
"Let her come and try," Mo Yu shot her a glance, hooking his lips in amusement.
"Oh, so you're not taking my sister seriously now, are you?" Qiao Lin turned to look at him. As she looked up, her head nearly hit his chin.
Mo Yu pressed her small head down with a finger and directly galloped towards Xijiu City. Behind them, a group of guards rushed to follow.
Chen Yan bit his lip in hidden resentment, quickly ordering the remaining guards to lift the unconscious Second Princess of Tundong onto a horse. He personally led the horse, taking care of her along the way. Fortunately, this place was not far from Xijiu City. Leading the Second Princess's horse and riding back to Xijiu City with a group of young guards would probably only take half an hour.
However, the Crown Prince's attitude towards the Second Princess was truly infuriating. He actually disregarded the beautiful and elegant Second Princess so completely. How could anyone bear it?
Chen Yan carefully escorted the Second Princess back to Xijiu City. Upon entering the city, he heard a guard report, "His Highness said to arrange for the Second Princess to rest at the post station."
"And where is His Highness?" Chen Yan couldn't help but feel a surge of anger. Wasn't the Crown Prince's mission to pick up the Second Princess? How could he disappear as soon as he picked her up?
"His Highness said his affairs don't need others to manage. As guards, we only need to protect our master; we shouldn't do anything extra."
Chen Yan gritted his teeth. "His Highness promised the King that he would safely bring the Second Princess back to the capital."
"Given the current situation, as everyone has seen, if Likou were to recklessly bring people to snatch her, without His Highness personally protecting the Second Princess, this matter could turn out badly."
The young guard didn't let him finish, simply leaving him and running off. "His Highness ordered it this way; you take the people and guard the Second Princess well."
Guard? Chen Yan was so angry his nose nearly twisted. What guard! Is the Second Princess of Tundong a criminal? What kind of guarding is this?!Didn't they say 'protect'? How did it completely change?
Meanwhile, Mo Yu followed closely behind Qiao Lin, returning with her to the Qiao residence in Lihua Alley. The Qiao residence had been continuously cleaned and looked after by someone for all these years. So when Qiao Lin returned, the furnishings were all the same as they had been years ago, completely unchanged. She was suddenly filled with emotion.
Their first stop after leaving Qiaotou Village that year was to settle in Xijiu City. It was also after entering Xijiu City that their family's life gradually began to improve. In those turbulent years, compared to some displaced people, having a stable city like Xijiu City to rest and settle in was quite fortunate.
