Chapter 5681: Mutual Destruction, Part 2
"What are you doing?" Feng Changqing, being closer, frowned and yelled when he saw what was happening.
The Eastern Overlord turned and gave them an eerie smile. He had always seemed so refined and reasonable before, so this sudden, bizarre change truly startled everyone.
With a sudden "creak," the Eastern Overlord raised his hand and pressed a mechanism on the wall.
At the same time, a series of rumbling sounds echoed in everyone's ears, accompanied by the rustling of falling sand and stone.
"The hall doors are all closed!" several people exclaimed, looking around with terror in their expressions.
Qiaomu looked at the Eastern Overlord, her voice remarkably calm. "You want to perish with everyone here."
"Madam Mo, my apologies," the Eastern Overlord said politely, nodding to her with a gentle smile. "I had no other choice. Although most of you are innocent, my capabilities are limited. If I don't sacrifice you, I won't be able to properly exact my revenge." He sighed, a look of deep concern on his face.
Several cultivators from the Eastern Domain, who had just emerged from their cultivation states, were stunned by the Eastern Overlord's words.
What did the Overlord mean just now? What did he mean by "no revenge without sacrificing them"? How exactly did he plan to get revenge?
As he spoke, above the main hall, the formerly dim, carved wooden beams suddenly burst forth with red light.
Numerous wooden boxes floated silently there.
Many people were still immersed in their cultivation states, unable to withdraw. Others were still trying to extract treasures from the boxes by permeating them with their sacred power.
Though they knew some danger had seemingly occurred outside, they were trapped in their meditative state and couldn't immediately break free. Despite their inner anxiety, they were helpless.
Qiaomu coldly eyed him, her face showing no change, but her chilling tone was bone-piercing. "So, you sought me out before just to use me? Everything you told me was nonsense, not a single word true?"
"No. What I said about my wife, and about me entering the Divine Palace to find Fuxia, are all true."
"You joined our team to leverage the strength of our entire group to help you reach the main hall as quickly as possible, right?" Qiaomu said coldly.
"My apologies, Madam Mo. As I said, this was merely a last resort." The Eastern Overlord sighed, then suddenly raised his hand. A surge of sacred power instantly struck a box above his head.
The wooden box shattered with a "boom," and a dazzling light flashed before everyone's eyes.
A pure silver dagger leaped out from it, whistling in the air, spinning once, and then, with a "whoosh," flew back into the Eastern Overlord's hand.
"Pfft." Due to the force of the impact, many cultivators who had been sitting quietly in meditation suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, all opening their eyes in horror.
All the wooden boxes above seemed to be startled awake, simultaneously emitting resonant hums.
After several "whoosh" sounds, a few boxes suddenly assaulted the crowd.
The cultivators were startled at first, then quickly deployed their defensive shields, jointly unleashing several powerful qi attacks that struck the wooden boxes.
The wooden boxes exploded in mid-air, dropping nothing, but instead swirling into a powerful airflow that suddenly counterattacked.
Qiaomu raised a hand, and dozens of attacking talismans teleported to the front of the airflow array.
With a deafening roar, everyone below prostrated themselves on the ground, their expressions slightly frozen.
