Harry nudged Dudley's shoulder and whispered, "See? I told you Professor Quirrell was fine. It's Professor Snape who's the problem."
Dudley: "..."
He hadn't listened to a word of Quirrell's stuttering lecture. He was recalling last night's events.
Was his reporting approach wrong? Or had he failed to explain the key issues? Why would Professor Dumbledore remain indifferent?
He could understand not taking action last night to avoid alerting the enemy, but today Quirrell was still here teaching unharmed, without even a change in expression. This didn't make sense.
If this were that world, after he reported last night, Quirrell would probably have been arrested by now. They would even have figured out whether the evil spirit inside Quirrell was male or female, what it had done, and what pathway it belonged to.
Yet at Hogwarts, his report was useless?
At this moment, Dudley couldn't help but doubt this traditional skill from the Tarot Club.
The muddled class ended just like that, with Dudley basically not listening to anything.
"Did you hear? This afternoon's Potions class is canceled. Professor Snape seems to have something to do," Neville suddenly ran over and said loudly.
"Really? That's great," Seamus said happily. He often made his cauldron explode, and Snape would happily deduct points from him each time, which made him hate Snape's Potions class.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione exchanged glances and couldn't help but nod simultaneously.
"Dudley, what do you think? Should we go report Snape to Professor Dumbledore?" Harry asked in a low voice.
"It's useless," Dudley said.
Dumbledore hadn't dealt with Quirrell, who clearly had problems, let alone Snape. Although this person was annoying, he hadn't done anything to harm the school or students. At most, he brought the previous generation's grudges to their younger generation, using them as punching bags.
"But if Snape gets the Philosopher's Stone, he might be able to resurrect Vol... You-Know-Who," Harry originally wanted to say Voldemort, but thinking of Ron beside him, he changed his words.
"Let's wait and see. The situation at Hogwarts is quite complicated right now. We shouldn't cause trouble for the time being," Dudley said after pondering for a moment.
Perhaps Professor Dumbledore was waiting for the right moment. Regarding the wizarding world, Dudley obviously didn't understand it as well as Professor Dumbledore. In such circumstances, his judgment might not necessarily be correct.
"Then let's observe the situation. At least for now, Snape should still have no way to get past that three-headed dog," Ron said.
"Thank goodness for Fluffy," Harry also said.
"Fluffy? That three-headed dog has a name?" Hermione said in surprise.
"Uh... it's Hagrid's pet," Ron explained.
"Oh my," Hermione exclaimed.
In the following period, Hogwarts returned to tranquility. The Halloween incident seemed to be just a small episode, quickly forgotten by everyone.
Dudley, however, kept waiting for the results of his report. But what he didn't expect was that half a month had passed, and Quirrell was still teaching at Hogwarts perfectly fine, as if nothing had happened.
"Something's wrong! Did I miss something?" Dudley was puzzled.
He didn't understand why Professor Dumbledore hadn't acted against Quirrell. Was he wary of Quirrell's strength, or was there some other reason?
"From what's recorded in books, even during Voldemort's strongest period, Dumbledore was fearless, leading the banner of resistance against Voldemort. There's no reason he'd be afraid now."
"Could it be that he's afraid of causing disaster in the school?" Dudley thought.
"Dudley, what are you thinking about?" Ron patted Dudley's shoulder.
"Nothing," Dudley shook his head.
"Are you worried about Quidditch? Don't worry, you and Harry both fly very well. You'll definitely have a chance," Ron said.
Recently, Gryffindor's Quidditch team was looking for a new Seeker. Originally, first-year students weren't included, but unfortunately, they couldn't find a suitable Seeker after searching, so they had to turn their attention to first-year students.
Of course, they weren't planning to put first-year students on the field right away. They just wanted to see if there were any promising prospects first. For this matter, they had specifically approached Professor McGonagall.
During this afternoon's flying lesson, Gryffindor Quidditch captain Oliver Wood would also come to see if there were any suitable candidates among these first-year students.
"We've all heard about it. Good luck this afternoon, we're rooting for you," Fred and George said as they passed by Dudley and Harry.
"Hey, can't you two root for your own brother?" Ron said, dissatisfied, to his two brothers.
"Wow, our brother actually came to Hogwarts."
"If you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have noticed."
Fred and George said in surprise.
Ron rolled his eyes and stopped paying attention to his brothers.
"I feel like I definitely won't be selected," Harry's face was somewhat pale, looking nervous.
"You fly very well. Trust me, you just haven't found your confidence yet," Hermione handed Harry a cup of pumpkin juice, trying to comfort his emotions.
"I hope there will be a good result," Harry said, then looked at Dudley beside him: "Dudley, what about you? Do you want to play Quidditch?"
"Me?" After thinking for a moment, Dudley said, "Forget it, I'm not very interested in Quidditch."
He really wasn't interested in this kind of sport. If he had to choose, he'd rather find a punching bag to practice boxing.
"You're actually not interested in Quidditch?" Ron was shocked.
"Everyone has their preferences," Dudley smiled.
"You seem to have something on your mind?" Hermione keenly sensed something.
"I'm thinking about some problems," Dudley said simply.
"If I may say so, if you can't figure it out, you could ask someone who knows, like the professors. They have much more experience than us and might be able to answer your questions," Hermione said.
"That's indeed a solution." Dudley nodded.
Perhaps he really could directly ask Professor Dumbledore what the situation was. If Dumbledore really didn't plan to take any action, then Dudley would have to take some action himself.
Ever since Quirrell tried to kill him last time, he had been wanting to get rid of him as soon as possible. Whether for his own safety or to eliminate Voldemort, he didn't want this person to continue appearing at Hogwarts.
Since reporting was useless, he could only use his own methods.
