"Good morning," Mariana whispered into my ear, and I smiled.
Her voice sounded like a beautiful melody every morning.
I giggled, wrapping my arm around her and pulling her closer.
We were still naked beneath the sheets.
"You know what day it is?" she whispered.
I finally opened my eyes and looked at her beautiful face.
Honestly, just looking at her made me feel as though every wish I'd ever had had come true.
No one in this world was more beautiful than she was.
And truthfully, there wasn't anyone else left in the North anyway.
"Yes. We're going back home," I said as I pulled her head down and kissed her forehead.
"People are ready," she replied.
The past seven years had been incredibly hard on us.
We had worked day and night.
The first year had been especially lonely.
It was just the two of us, doing our best to feed the medicine to as many monsters as possible.
Mariana had changed completely from the way she used to be.
She was no longer a brat.
