Haiden:
I woke up before sunrise. I don't know when I fell asleep, but I went to bed thinking my friends had my back.
The mansion was unusually quiet, yet there was a strange murmur drifting through it.
Today was the day.
The fight that had been building inside me was finally going to happen.
The crown that was supposed to be mine was finally going to become mine, rightfully.
After getting dressed, I quietly stepped into the hallway.
Soft voices drifted from the sitting room. I knew who it was. Fauna.
I could recognize her voice from miles away.
I approached her and saw her kneeling beside her mother, Hilda.
Their eyes were closed, and their hands were clasped together.
They were praying.
I didn't interrupt them, but I knew they were praying for me and for my victory.
I simply stood there for a few minutes, watching the two women whisper silent prayers.
Then they began praying for my victory, and my heart softened.
