Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Wolf Hunt

After Dracula and his vampire companions departed from Lillywood, the silence of death grew even deeper. The darkness of night was now swallowing Lillywood in its most terrifying form, and the smoke rising from the burning homes formed a terrifying, ghostly figure in the sky. Amidst this horrifying scene, Marcus, who had lost his family and village, fled, consumed by the fire of revenge and deep pain within him. His heart was screaming in agony, but only one thought occupied his mind – to survive.

The last breaths of his family still swam before his eyes, and the burning streets of Lillywood had become a horrifying image in his memories. Marcus didn't know where he was going; he just wanted to escape this hell. His feet were covered in blood, and his body ached all over, but the will to exist pushed him forward. He ran without stopping, towards the dense forests where the night's darkness was even more profound.

As Marcus ventured deeper into the forest, he began to feel a strange uneasiness. A new scent permeated the air, familiar yet now terrifying. It was the scent of wolves. The people of Lillywood were familiar with wolves; they often encountered them in the forest while hunting. But tonight, this scent was different – stronger, more aggressive. Then he heard the distant howls of wolves. These were no ordinary wolves; their voices held a strange hunger and cruelty that terrified Marcus.

His feet were shackled, and he was running for his life. He felt the glowing eyes of the wolves approaching from behind him in the darkness. Marcus knew he couldn't face them in this state. All he wanted was to find a safe place where he could hide. As he ran, his gaze fell upon an old, massive cave. This cave, which seemed centuries old, was hidden in the densest part of the forest. As he entered it, Marcus felt a slight sense of relief, but that feeling vanished in an instant.

The wolves followed him into the cave. They weren't alone; they were a large pack, almost half a dozen in number. Their eyes were now completely red, and foam was frothing from their mouths. They seemed larger and more aggressive than normal wolves. As Marcus went a little deeper into the cave, he noticed a strange dark energy within the cave that made the wolves even more ferocious.

Marcus used his last strength to try and fight them. He tried to defend himself with stones and broken branches, but the wolves were too fast and cruel. They attacked him one after another, their sharp teeth tearing at his body. Marcus cried out in pain, but he did not give up. He wanted to live for his family, to live for his revenge. But the body has its limits. Slowly, his strength began to fail.

The wolves continued to gnaw at his body, and Marcus's blood spread across the cave floor. His breaths grew shallow, and the scene of Lillywood once again played before his eyes. He remembered Leena's laughter, his mother's loving face, and his father's strong grip. With his last breath, Marcus repeated his vow of revenge, but now his voice could not be heard by anyone.

Finally, his eyes closed forever. Marcus's life, which had just begun, ended with the tragic demise of Lillywood. There was no movement left in his body.

The largest wolf of the pack, whose eyes were the reddest, slowly approached Marcus's lifeless body. It tore open Marcus's chest and took his heart into its mouth. This was not the end of a normal hunt. It was an ancient and terrifying ritual, performed only by the most powerful wolves. As the wolf ate Marcus's heart, a strange echo resonated in the cave, and a deep, dark energy spread through the air.

The wolf pack was now silent. They had eaten their prey, but this time something was different. Marcus's lifeless body lay there, and the wolves slowly began to exit the cave. They weren't consuming their prey entirely, but only taking its heart, as if absorbing some greater power.

Silence descended upon the cave. Only Marcus's lifeless body and the bloodstains remained. But was this truly the end of Marcus? Was this ancient ritual of the wolves merely a cruel act, or was there a deeper secret hidden behind it that could change the fate of Alaria?
