Chapter 22 - You Are Going To Fire Me?

10:30 am.

Brentley arrived at Jacques Bistro Restaurant in a taxi. Although it wasn't mealtime, the front of Jacques was already lined with luxury cars, and stylish, eye-catching young people were coming and going.

Even though Brentley was wearing his best clothes today, he still felt out of place compared to the people frequenting the Restaurant.

After paying the fare, Brentley walked straight towards the entrance of the Restaurant. The security guard at the door was momentarily surprised by Brentley's attire. He quickly extended his hand to stop him and frowned, asking, "Young man, are you here for a job interview? If so, use the back entrance!"

"I'm here to eat!" Brentley replied, looking up at the guard with a blank expression.

"You're here to eat?" The guard's eyes flashed with doubt but didn't say much more. He lowered his hand and allowed Brentley to enter.

While most of the people who dined at Jacques Bistro were wealthy, there were occasionally some ordinary folks who came to try their luck. So, the guard didn't think too much about it.

Once inside the Restaurant, Brentley was immediately struck by the sight before him.

The restaurant wasn't very large, but it was elegantly decorated. As Brentley stepped inside, it felt as though he had traveled back to Renaissance Europe. The walls were adorned with paintings, and ancient decorations were everywhere, highlighting the restaurant's unique charm.

Above, crystal chandeliers emitted a warm yellow glow, making the entire restaurant feel cozy. The pristine wool carpet underfoot was incredibly comfortable.

If it weren't for Mr. Griffin reserving this restaurant for him, Brentley might never have set foot in such a place in his lifetime.

This might be the difference between the wealthy and the ordinary folks.

To regular people, Prosperity Hotel is already quite impressive, but when compared to Jacques Bistro Restaurant, It's on a whole other level.

Brentley took out his phone to call Mr. Griffin and ask about the location of the private room they had reserved. However, just as he pulled out his phone, he felt a sudden stomachache and decided to head to the restroom first.

It had to be said, the restroom at the Restaurant was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, making it feel nothing like a typical restroom.

Meanwhile, in the private room, Erica checked her phone and noticed it was almost eleven o'clock. She couldn't help but frown slightly and asked, "Cousin, who exactly is this fiance of yours? We agreed to meet at 10:30am, and now it's already eleven, and he still hasn't shown up!"

The elegant beauty beside her also frowned slightly upon hearing this but didn't say much. Being late for a first date was indeed quite off-putting.

"I think just because he dared to be late today, you shouldn't marry him, cousin. Do you know how many outstanding young men in Sunshire City would love to take you out? And this guy dares to be late!" Wynter exclaimed indignantly.

"Maybe he has an emergency," the elegant beauty replied softly.

"Even if there's an emergency, he shouldn't be late!" Erica shouted, her big, watery eyes glaring. She then stood up and said, "Cousin, I'm going to the restroom. When that jerk finally shows up, I'll give him a piece of my mind!"

"Go ahead!"

The elegant woman said calmly.

Erica, with a graceful stride in her high heels, made her way out of the private room.

A few minutes later, Erica found the restroom. Just as she was about to enter, she noticed a very familiar figure standing by the sink.

Erica paused, her curiosity piqued, and she stopped to observe Brentley washing his hands.

"Why does he look so familiar?" Erica muttered softly to herself.

The next second, Brentley turned around and instinctively shook the water off his hands.

Unaware that someone was standing behind him, the water splashed directly onto Erica's face.

"Ah!"

Erica yelped, quickly stepping back a couple of steps. With wide eyes, she shouted, "Are you blind? Can't you see...." Before she could finish her sentence, both she and Brentley froze in place.

"What a coincidence!"

Brentley said, forcing an awkward smile as he looked at Wynter.

The girl standing in front of him was none other than the one he had accidentally knocked over at Sunshire City University the previous day.

"You again, you pervert?" Erica exclaimed in disbelief.

"I am not a pervert!" Brentley responded with a hint of exasperation.

"If you're not a pervert, then what are you?" Erica crossed her arms and let out a cold laugh.

Last night, Erica had been plotting how to get back at Brentley. After all, he was the first man to ever touch her chest without permission. And with everything Elton had said, her dislike for Brentley had only grown.

Back at Sunshire City University, Erica couldn't say anything about Brentley's actions because there were too many people around. But now, things were different. There was no one here who knew her.

She started to calculate in her mind how she could get her revenge on Brentley.

"I don't have time to discuss this with you right now. What happened earlier was an accident, I'm sorry!" Brentley apologized for accidentally splashing water on Erica's face and then began to walk away. It was already eleven o'clock, and he was in a hurry to meet his fiancee.

Even though Brentley didn't particularly like his fiancee, whom he had never met, it was their first meeting, and being too late would be bad.

"Stop right there!"

Erica shouted as she saw Brentley trying to leave.

"Do you have anything else to say?" Brentley turned his head with a sigh, looking at her.

"You splashed water on my face just now. Do you think you can just say sorry and leave?" Erica's eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief as she spoke softly to Brentley.

"What else do you want?" Brentley asked, frowning.

"What do I want?" Erica couldn't help but let out a cold laugh at Brentley's question. She took a step closer, sizing him up, and said softly, "I want you to kneel down and apologize to me right now. If you do, I'll forgive you today. Otherwise, I'll go to the restaurant manager and complain that you harassed me, and have you fired!"

"You want to get me fired?" Brentley looked at Erica in front of him, momentarily speechless, unsure of what to say.
