Moyu had no awareness of the unwavering resolve brewing inside a certain pineapple-headed lunatic, and truthfully, even if he had known, it would've made no difference to him. At the current pace his power was evolving, Moyu was certain that by the time he crossed paths with Szayel Aporro again, the Espada wouldn't even retain a full body to fight with, let alone pose a threat—on that point, his confidence was absolute and unwavering.
Yet despite Moyu's personal convictions, the sudden news of an Espada manifesting in the Human World had sent Urahara Kisuke into high-alert mode once more. The presence of an entity with power equal to—or perhaps surpassing—a captain of the Gotei 13 within the Human World was nothing short of a pending catastrophe, the kind that had the potential to unravel balance on a terrifying scale.
Had Moyu not detected the threat as early as he did—and utterly crushed Szayel Aporro beneath the sheer weight of his Reiatsu—then Karakura Town might already have become nothing more than a desolate graveyard. The spiritual pressure radiating from an Espada-class Arrancar wasn't something that the average soul could even endure, much less survive.
What troubled Urahara more than anything else, however, was the complete lack of information regarding Szayel's motives, goals, or greater intentions. And while he had walked away with more questions than answers, he had at least obtained something valuable—a clearer understanding of Moyu's growing strength. After all, to utterly overwhelm an Espada using only Kidō was a feat far beyond the reach of most seasoned captains, and certainly not something to take lightly.

Karakura Town – Underground Storehouse
Moyu lay sprawled across the length of the sofa like a sun-dried salted fish, arms dangling lazily as he stared vacantly up at the ceiling. To any outsider who might have stumbled upon the scene, he would've looked like someone shamelessly slacking off without a care in the world, but that couldn't have been further from the truth.
Inside his mind, he was meticulously replaying every moment of the recent battle. The sudden arrival of Szayel Aporro—both in terms of timing and method—was just too unusual to overlook. The incident had taken place not long after Moyu had officially taken up his post in Karakura Town, and what disturbed him most was that the entire event had somehow slipped past the surveillance systems of the Technology Development Bureau, which was supposedly infallible.
If Mikami Saiki hadn't been out patrolling on a routine Hollow sweep at that exact moment, the entire town might have been erased in a matter of minutes. And if Moyu didn't get to the bottom of the anomaly, then he'd likely find himself forced to clean up similar disasters every other week—an outcome he had no intention of tolerating.
Shifting upright with sudden resolve, he muttered to himself that he needed to trace the source of the problem and then made up his mind to consult Urahara Kisuke about any research findings the man might've compiled. However, before he could even step toward the door, a familiar noise erupted down the hall as a large figure burst in with more enthusiasm than grace.
"Master Moyu! Master Moyu!" Mikami Saiki shouted, panting as he barreled into the room without the slightest hesitation.
Moyu winced at the intrusion, the corner of his eye twitching as a vein throbbed near his temple. Here we go again, he thought grimly. Ever since witnessing Moyu's battle against Szayel Aporro, Mikami Saiki had begun treating him with the obsessive reverence of a disciple kneeling before a god, which, while perhaps flattering to some, was nothing but a migraine to Moyu.
With a long-suffering sigh, he raised a hand and said, "If you've got something to say, just say it already, Saiki—there's no need to freak out every time. You've got to learn from me: even if the sky falls, I won't blink."
Those words seemed to snap Saiki back to his senses, and after taking a few long, deep breaths to collect himself, he managed to calm down enough for Moyu to speak again in a composed tone, "So? What happened?"
Scratching the back of his head with a sheepish grin, Saiki finally replied that it wasn't anything too serious—just that the Technology Development Bureau had received the report concerning the Menos Grande attack and had responded with a development Moyu absolutely did not expect.
"Captain of Squad 12, Kurotsuchi Mayuri, is coming to the Human World to conduct his own investigation," Saiki announced.
Moyu froze mid-step.
That lunatic… is coming here?
Kurotsuchi Mayuri was the last person Moyu wanted to deal with, and at this rate, they might as well just rename Karakura Town to Seireitei-2, considering that with the Visoreds included, there were already six captain-level beings lingering around. Now, with Kurotsuchi's arrival added to the mix, half the Gotei 13 had essentially relocated unofficially to the same zip code.
Frowning deeply, Moyu couldn't help but wonder what that maniac actually wanted, because he had never liked dealing with Kurotsuchi Mayuri. The man was chaos incarnate wrapped in a lab coat, a walking disaster whose interests always left collateral damage in their wake. Yet now that the man was here, ignoring him was no longer an option.
"…Got it," Moyu said after a tense pause, turning his attention back to Saiki.
"You're in charge of monitoring daily activity in Karakura Town. Keep your senses sharp and don't make any unnecessary moves."
"Yes, sir!" Saiki barked out with military precision, standing at full attention.
But before the echo of his words could fully settle into the air, Moyu had already vanished, having detected something far more pressing than anything Saiki had said. Without warning, a spiritual pressure had descended—a suffocating, twisted Reiatsu that reeked of calculated madness and unrelenting ambition.
A captain-level presence had arrived in Karakura Town, and clearly, Kurotsuchi Mayuri had no intention of suppressing his spiritual pressure. Instead, he had allowed just enough of it to seep into the surrounding air to serve as a warning—a metaphorical flag planted in enemy territory, daring anyone to approach.
Mikami Saiki may have taken a few moments to register what had just happened, but for Moyu, the sensation was immediate and unmistakable.
There was a deliberate malice in that Reiatsu—a controlled frenzy, like a venomous intellect that had once been caged in the Maggot's Nest but now walked free with no leash in sight.

Northern Suburbs of Karakura Town
Without sound or ceremony, a dimensional gate opened in the sky, the fabric of space parting to reveal a solitary figure stepping through its threshold. Draped in the stark white haori of a Gotei 13 captain layered over the traditional black shihakushō, the man's silhouette was unmistakable—his collar flaring up in a flamboyant violet arc that added to his unsettling presence.
His face was obscured behind a black-and-white mask, its design reminiscent of a deranged theatrical prop, while his yellow pupils burned with equal parts intelligence and madness—gleaming with the cold gleam of a mind that dissected everything and felt nothing.
He was the Captain of Squad 12.
The Mad Scientist of the Gotei 13.
Kurotsuchi Mayuri.
Hovering above the city, he glanced down at the quiet landscape of Karakura Town, and with pale, spindly fingers tapping rhythmically against his temple—producing a wet, almost insect-like sound—he murmured with clinical curiosity, "Sa… So this is the city where the Menos Grande made its appearance?"
