Ruby Hill was clearly startled by my actions. "William, what are you doing?"
"Ms. Hill, don't worry. My grandfather used to be a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, and I learned a bit from him when I was young."
I lied.
But Ruby Hill didn't seem as nervous anymore.
Taking off her shoe, I saw numerous scars on her foot, and her toes were bent to varying degrees.
The veins on the top of her foot were densely visible, like a map of veins. 'Were these varicose veins?' I thought.
I never expected Ruby Hill's foot to be like this. It wasn't beautiful, but even somewhat terrifying.
This was the price she paid for dancing.
Seeing my frown, Ruby Hill seemed uneasy. "It's okay, William. It's an old injury."
She seemed reluctant to let others see her feet.
"You said it's okay, but you have such severe varicose veins and your heel is swollen! With your condition, how can you continue to teach dancing?"
